  1. And Goins goes to the DL with a forearm issue. He said it's no big deal, but being done as a precautionary measure to make sure nothing serious went wrong.
  2. Not Cobb or Rose? 1400 more hits than Ruth in his career for Rose, even if they were all 150 foot dying quails, that's a whole lot of footage when you multiply by 1400. Goddamn, now I want to know career total distances for hits. Thanks guys!!
  3. I love all the new shit showing up over the last few years, exit velocity, MPH on throws from fielders, RPM on pitched balls, launch angle. It won't be for a few years down the road that we start to figure out what to pay attention to and what can be disregarded, but it's pretty goddamn nifty to see it start to come around.
  4. Bud Norris to LAD for two pitching prospects. One of them was at A, the other at AA. Norris would be on regular rest to go tomorrow to replace Kershaw, who hit the DL after taking the needle for his back.
  5. I get that he's got some pop, but he's not any great shakes at the plate beyond that. He's hitting like .175 and has 17 K in 40 AB. Seems about right for a pitcher. Letting him hit seems silly. But, Posey will be behind the plate for him, so it's not as if they could use Buster in the DH spot. I'm always salty about anything that has to do with SFG, but I would think this was dumb even if it was a Dodger pitcher. Unless it was Drysdale. Big D was the man.
  6. I don't particularly like it on its own either, but I do dig the Midnight Hour.
  7. The greatest thing to me about Cameron's game is that he and Boone went back to back twice in the same inning. What a ridiculous thing.
  8. You should be goddamn proud of this photo. Really excellent shot.
  9. Milano is in my top ten guys for exactly that reason. Fuck, I loved all the weird subs. Such a badass meld of styles.
  10. The Screwdriver is my favorite impact move of all time, so brutal. Also, is my brain hella weird, or was it also called the Square Driver? That's what registers in my head when I think about it, but I don't know if it was ever actually referred to that way. I think the Texas Cloverleaf is my favorite submission finish, easy to apply and it looks super painful.
  11. That was a rough go for Taylor last night. I love the weirdness of baseball. Three nights ago, gets the only XBH in a game against Kershaw, last night 5K and that E to end it. Looks like Puig's hamstring is feeling alright, he was motoring to get all the way around.
  12. So, we pulled the trigger on a PS4 in advance of No Man's Sky coming out. I picked up a bundle with the Uncharted Collection and Uncharted 4. With those 4 plus NMS and MLB 16, I figure I will have my hands full for a while, but I also have to take into account my soon to be 7 year old. I am looking for suggestions for the young man to play. He is into puzzle games and platformers for the most part, but has pretty wide open tastes with other genres. I know that there is an Abe's Oddysee remake, so I thought I might try to get him into that, but having been a 360 house for so long, I haven't really kept up with many of the PS4 releases over the last couple years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Trey Griffey got drafted as well, but it's not as if he's going to play in the M's system at all. Also, Walt Weiss' son went in the 29th round to NYY.
  14. Hell of a fucking game in SF tonight, Kershaw - Cueto. LAD gets 2 T1 on a balk and an RBI 1B, SFG gets 1 back on a Duffy HR B1. It stays 2-1 unti B6, when Posey doubles in the tying run. Cueto was tremendous, kept LAD on their heels all night, comes out after 8 and Justin Turner promptly unties it with a solo job T9 off Casilla. Jansen comes in, gets two quick outs from Duffy and Posey, gives up a 2B to Belt, walks Blanco, then K's Crawford to end it. Kershaw's line - 8 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 13 K, 0 BB Cueto - 8 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 8 K, 0 BB Top flight pitching is fucking a-ok by me. Fun game to watch, and the result I wanted.
  15. As if I needed another reason to love Adam Jones. I don't keep up with the O's much, is Machado still kind of an asshole, or has he turned it around? Even if he's still a tool, Ventura is King Dick, so Manny can get a free pass for taking a crack at him.
  16. Is it just me, or does it seem like he's having a hard time keeping it together? I keep thinking I am hearing his voice crack and waver like right before emotion shuts your body down and takes over. I'm a little behind, I keep having to pause it to take phone calls at my desk. My heart is breaking for this guy. EDIT - Oh man, he just broke down. I want to give him a hug.
  17. Crawford was the deal that needed to be taken on in order to secure Adrian Gonzalez. Carl is okay in my book, but there is some pretty fantastically amped up hatred among Dodger fans about him. No happy thoughts left over from his good work in the postseason in both series in 2013 and the one in 2014. At 34 years old and with a diminishing skill set, I don't know that he is going to catch on anywhere. It wouldn't surprise me to see him stay home, especially with all the money owed him.
  18. According to BBREF, career earnings of $85,456,945 for Park. Plus his wife is filthy rich as well, so that joke doesn't really have legs.
  19. Fuck, knowing that a Fernando Tatis Jr. is old enough to be in a big league organization makes me feel old as hell. I have a ball signed by his old man sitting on my shelf, and I remember the 2 slams in one inning off Chan Ho Park like it was yesterday.
  20. Hunter Pence to the DL, gone at least 8 weeks. He tore his hamstring completely off the bone and will likely have surgery to repair it. Even with all my hatred of SFG, there is no denying how much fun Pence makes watching baseball. Big blow for them, for sure. For a guy that was so durable for so long to get clipped by injury in two consecutive years is pretty shitty.
  21. And since we were just talking about how awful they are and always have been, the Padres go out and prove it tonight. Up 12-2 on SEA after 5, the M's got 5 in the 6th and 9 in the 7th and end up winning it 16-13. Mariners got SEVEN consecutive 2 out singles in the 7th!!
  22. Extra points for her doing the "MaeKen Dance" before she steps on the rubber.
  23. Absolutely true. In existence since 1969, winning records in only 14 of those seasons. A bigger group of sad sacks would be hard to find. Tony Gwynn deserved better than the Padres.
  24. He even made reference to Kroc getting on the PA and berating the team in his interview. At least he is familiar with the guy that blazed a trail for him to air out his club in public. "The performance by our team (Tuesday), I can understand how (former owner Ray) Kroc would have grabbed the microphone. It's that frustrating."
  25. Ron Fowler, executive chairman of the San Diego Padres is not happy. He apparently went on the radio and shredded the team for being "miserable failures". He mentioned Shields by name and basically said that they don't have the right guys in place to compete. Pretty wild. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/san-diego-padres-exec-calls-team-miserable-failures-060116
