  1. As soon as I heard the sound, I was waiting for someone to make that joke. Pretty well done.
  2. Unfortunately paywalled, but there seems to be more about the electronic sign-stealing going on over the last couple years. Story has to do with the 2017 HOU team. https://theathletic.com/1363451/2019/11/12/the-astros-stole-signs-electronically-in-2017-part-of-a-much-broader-issue-for-major-league-baseball/ EDIT - Here's a non-paywalled link to another piece of the story, plus a tweet with a statement from Danny Farquhar with a video included for you to check out how they were signaling to hitters. You can see just before the glove comes up to cover his mouth, he is saying something about "I think they are". If the video embed doesn't take you there, jump to 2:58:30. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/astros-used-electronic-sign-stealing-method-during-title-winning-2017-season-report-says/
  3. How silly of me to assume. If he ends up going this route, I'm placing an order!!
  4. Customs like apartment wrestling videos? Is there a non-pornographic market for such a thing?
  5. I don't have a whole lot of "holy grail" type merch, but a motherfucking Wrestle And Romance shirt I think just worked its way onto that list.
  6. While I appreciate the idea of this post, I am saddened by the rule of "title mention", because it disqualifies one of my favorite movie themes in "Holiday Road" by Lindsey Buckingham. Since @Execproducer beat me to the one that jumped to the forefront of my mind I'll mention a couple others that I enjoy. John Parr - St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion) - It's got fuck all to do with the film it is the theme for, but it's a pretty decent pop tune. The video makes the connection with the cast of the film, but that doesn't change the fact that Parr and a partner wrote it about Rick Hansen and his "Man In Motion World Tour" while sort of quasi-alluding to the themes set forth in the film. Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder - Together In Electric Dreams - Great song, much more well regarded and a bigger hit that the film ever was, but how could it not be with those two responsible for its writing and performance? Irene Cara would get my vote for the theme from "Fame", and since I just watched "Xanadu" the other day, that one is fresh in my brain as well. Footloose is another winner, but I almost feel like that's cheating, since Kenny Loggins was the king of the movie theme. In looking at this list, it sort of throws away the one-hit wonder vibe a little bit as well. John Parr is the closest, but he had another #1 with "Naughty Naughty" so he's a two hitter, and Irene Cara had "What A Feeling" and "Breakdance" as chart hits as well.
  7. Yo, that video is a fucking masterwork. He so effortlessly goes back and forth between full kayfabe and making real statements about their position so far. He is so very easily the right choice to be the guy at the focal point of this company right now. It's really cool how he just runs down the list and puts everyone over about how special this is for us to be watching it unfold. Then just right back into "Chris Jericho, the reason you're all here." Excellent vid, thanks for posting it.
  8. The road alt is pretty saucy. Well, I think it is the alt. I guess there's no telling yet, I just assume the dark brown top is the standard road uni. The road pinstripes is fucking banging.
  9. Why would it? Are they a couple? And is her sudden appearance on their TV because they are a package deal? I have enjoyed her stuff way more than his. If I had to make a snap choice about who was the bigger deal was right this second, I think I choose the bright spot in a relatively lacking women's division over a boring hardcore guy. Granted, I am making that statement without having seen his run in PROGRESS that basically everyone raves about, so take my horseshit opinion as exactly that. I can't possibly know his true value having only seen his CZW and MLW stuff plus this little bit now.
  10. I'm even more surprised by it after reading in here about just how many empty seats there were all over the venue. That place was fucking MOLTEN in a handful of spots, and really, really loud all night long.
  11. That's a piece of merch from Stash Pages, not official NJPW goods.
  12. That was a fucking A+ 2 hours of wrestling. There is something about Trent? that I just dig, man. I don't know what the deal was with the two count on Black Arrow, Trent? didn't move a fucking muscle. Best Friends and Orange Cassidy are the TRUTH. I thought the women's match was well structured in that it gave the three ladies in it that weren't already the champ the vast majority of the shine and let them do their thing. I like Sakura trying to face it up with the stomp/clap while her partner was motherfucking everyone and being a double bad guy. I think Jamie Hayter is my new favorite wrestler. Throws bombs like she means it, and fun to watch her really try to get completely unlikable. Plus, if I'm being completely honest, I think she's super pretty, so there's that. I liked the Brandi segment, especially if she is getting out of in-ring work and just acting as a mouthpiece, she's becoming a really good promo, but although it was well delivered, it was kind of rambling and nonsensical. Who is calling her a clown? I don't know. Whatever. Awesome Kong come in to fuck fools up at Brandi's bidding? I can dig it. Cutler is a sacrificial lamb, but they need somebody to lose, and I liked his work while doing it. I thought Spears was good, and I think they are using him pretty well. I loved that shirt he was wearing. If that is an official piece of merch and is blank on the back, I'm all over it. I love the Dark Order, and I was hoping they'd get the W, but no go. Private Party seem too rehearsed and not good enough at the transition side of things for my liking. They do great shit, but it doesn't have enough of the linking work to be anything more than impressive athletically. Brawl to close it out after a really fun tag match with lots of Hager fuckery was awesome. Loved the finish being moved along by the nut shot, but if I'm honest, I figured Page and Omega to not gel quite as well because of the dissension stuff they've been seeding. Really good way to go into PPV. I didn't think anything dragged, and all the stories progressed nicely. I keep hoping that they will work out the timing with commercials not interrupting matches, but I'm sure that is something that is an area of concern to the production crew.
  13. You have to stop with the Kinnikuman merch. I can't take it anymore. I have very few dollars that can be spent on things not called "my wife and kids" and you are making it very hard for me to continue justifying those expenditures. All I want to do is run away and spent every last goddamn dime I have on all this great shit. That is Ataru Kinniku on the left, I think? What a fucking swank figure.
  14. I was thinking more along the lines of the comic strip version of Steve The Tramp.
  15. Am I being super rude if I say that Bea Priestley is giving me kind of a Dick Tracy villain vibe in that photo? I feel like an asshole bringing it up, but I can't shake it. Or alternatively, maybe Patty Mullen in Frankenhooker? I don't think that is much nicer, but it's all I can see with her glowering at me like that.
  16. For sure it was. That's the Chyna door slam match. Wait a minute! Non-hokey? Am I in the minority in thinking that the blue cage is the superior cage? I fucking HATE the cyclone fence version. I like its use for HIAC, but I always thought the 80's WWF cage is the best of the bunch. Snuka -Muraco, Snuka - Backlund, and Sammartino - Zbyszko are the only matches of the era that jump off the top of my head that were in a cage, and all three in cages made of chain link fence. It changed to the blue bars for Bundy - Hogan WM2 and stayed that way until Valentine's Day Massacre. After that show, the cage went back to the chain link. I bet that blue cage was a motherfucker to bump into, though. Good for the workers that have to be in it that the new (old) style is much more giving, but I dig the visual of the other so much more.
  17. Now I want to see Orange Cassidy fuck up like 18 hamburgers and a chocolate malted on BTE. Or alternatively, have it turn out that he is a time traveler from the 29th century sent back to make sure that the history we know is kept in line by whatever actions he takes.
  18. $$$$$$$$$$ Michaels came right out and said it, and I believe Foley has alluded to it. The money that they throw at them to work these Saudi shows is too ridiculous to turn down. As far as why wrestlers never quit, I have always looked at it as a simple equation. The kind of folks that go into pro wrestling are broken in a way that has created a hole in them somewhere. That hole is filled by popping a crowd, or even just being in the spotlight for however long. That makes them complete for a few moments, then immediately recedes, so they need to keep going and going and going. Obviously, I'm just trying to put my own understanding on a situation that I don't have any experience in, at least at that level. But having been in a thousand locker rooms on indie shows with "names", the vibe I got from talking to them is that the pro wres is the one constant in their lives that makes them feel valued as a human being. So why would they ever want to give that beautiful feeling up?
  19. Oh fuuuuuuck you. Here I was, totally convinced that this turn was picture perfect, and then you go ahead and come up with an AMAZING way it could have played out. Goddamn, that would have been hella boss.
  20. Better see Jake Atlas in your local VFW or HS gym while you can. http://socaluncensored.com/2019/10/20/jake-atlas-signs-with-wwe/ I'll make goddamn sure I get to APW to see him before he finishes up. I wonder who will end up taking the belt from him? Fatu or Cobb are the last two champs, but both seem like they maybe won't be around much anymore because of their other engagements.
  21. Do umps count? There is a political slant here, so if this is a no go, delete the post or replace it with a picture of a cute ferret. https://deadspin.com/mlb-umpire-rob-drake-is-prepared-to-shoot-people-in-def-1839307670/
  22. She really seems to have the knack for being a big old dick down pat. She comes on TV and I immediately start doing something else. Is she still boring and botchy and not real well-timed in the ring, or has she gotten better?
  23. I'm assuming this is in reference to her v. Meiko in the MYC? If not, I would love to know of a match she had better than that last year. It was fucking great.
  24. And that then speaks to how BTE is maybe not the best thing as their primary storytelling device thus far because of the divide it puts in viewers who did / did not watch. Because they did a little bit of that on BTE, but if my first exposure to AEW us Dynamite, I don't know that happened, and like you say, am then forced to accept him. Cool for them to blast right out of the gate with this, but you are spot on. Probably an issue that they see and will use their TV time and Dark to maybe interweave some of that. At least that's the hope that I have for them going forward.
  25. I neglected to mention how fucking BOSS Pentagon's PDM slashes mask was as well, so I just wanted to throw that out there.
