In what must have been Rob Manfred's wet dream - the Cleveland/Boston game took 1 hour, 49 minutes to complete

It is the fastest 9 inning game since June 2010 (which was ironically Armando Galarraga's near-perfect game)

Tanner Houck threw Boston's first complete game shutout at Fenway in seven years

Not just a CG, but a Maddux CG.

Oh lord, that game.  Every character had the same body and wore long tights and no shirt, regardless of how they looked IRL.  The only difference was the heads.  What I did like, though, was how you could choose your moveset before starting.

Possibly Michael Hayes vs Mike Rotunda.  Could also be Big John Studd vs TAKA Michinoku.

This was also my first wrestling game on the NES.  In Japan, this was Super Star Pro Wrestling, and had a nice lineup of folks.  It also explains why some finishers for the WCW guys made no sense.

The Famicom version had Abby, Maeda, Andre (NPC), Road Warriors, Inoki, Brody, Tenryu, Baba, Jumbo, Choshu, Hansen and Vader

Jordan Montgomery to the D-backs on a one year deal with a vesting option for a second year

The option is $20 million if he makes 10 starts. $25 million if he makes 23 starts

I saw one person describe Scott Boras offseason as basically the equivalent of striking out 4 times in a game (aka the Golden Sombrero)

One of the few offseasons where Boras has taken a major L.

Why teams hadn't got wise to his act years ago boggles my mind, but he knows how to get his clients (and himself) paid.

The Lions have Hendon Hooker as their lone backup quarterback. Trubisky might suck but he's at least played.

There are better FA options for backups than Trubisky though.

Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew to name a couple.

Devin hester sticks out like a sore thumb in that group. Will they put Tasker in now that special teams in a position?

I'd have to think that now opens the door for Tasker to finally get the call, as well as Matthew Slater when his clock starts.

I feel like I ask this every year but how is Julius Peppers a HOF.  He is definitely in the Hall of very good I admit

4th all time in career sacks

9x Pro Bowl (meaningless to most people, but still  a measurable)

    3x 1st Team All Pro

    10x - 10 or more sacks in a season

And not that similar players is a definitive measurement on PFR, but for his career,  most of the people he matches up with are in the HOF.

He's more than a deserving choice.

  7. Is the 3rd time the charm for Buffalo to finally defeat KC in the playoffs (in the past 4 seasons)?  Mahomes 1st road playoff game, and I'm sure it's going to be a raucous crowd.

Should be a fun weekend of football.

Not only are the Jets finally benching Zach Wilson but they demoted him to third string

Tim Boyle will start. Trevor Siemian will be the backup

Another Jets 1st Round QB bites the dust.  2nd year in a row he's demoted to 3rd string QB.

Is he salvageable?  Someone is going to take a flyer on him given he's a 2nd overall pick.

    For the 1st Ballot Guys:

Beltre has to get in on his 1st shot, right?  3000+ hits, 5 gold gloves amongst other accomplishments.

Mauer may not be a 1st ballot guy to some, but he's probably getting in at some point.

    Others:

If it took Larry Walker 10 cycles to get in, I'm guessing it takes that long for Todd Helton to get the call?

So, does Bill bring him back to New England this week, or wait until the off-season?

Bill O'Brien is the OC & QB coach.  If Josh came back to NE, maybe he can take the QB coach title?   It'd be quite the downgrade from HC and OC, but Mac did have his best success his rookie year with Josh as OC.

Also the deadline passed for the NFL to flex the Jets/Raiders out of the Week 10 Sunday Night game

Oh my that is dreadful.  Now, watch it be some sort of shootout, ending 44-40 or something like that.

Would be hilarious if the Commanders do a defense fire sale and keep the one guy that should be gone in Chase Young

It's almost as if Dan Snyder and his front office cronies never left.  Their wretched spirits linger.

  13. Kyle Van Noy is coming back to the Patriots on a 2 year deal.

They still have approx 26MM left in cap space (per the fantastic analysis of @patscap on Twitter), but he is still waiting on the impact of the contracts for Trent Brown, Justin Bethel and Ted Karras as well as Patrick Chung's retirement.

  14. Oh, the Bengals were very bad b/w Sam Wyche and Marvin Lewis, no question.  But at some point, you have to move on from a guy who hasn't won a playoff game in his 15 year tenure.  But Mike Brown is content with mediocrity and having a coach who won't rock the boat, while he makes money hand over fist.
