  1. BTS was great this week, as usual. I especially love when smaller promotions get talked about.
  2. I love the couple really old promos of his on Youtube.
  3. Embry all day, every day.
  4. Bronco Lubich? Holy crap. I'd only ever seen him as the old man ref.
  5. This is Ron Wright, correct? I believe so, yeah. Match was Ron/Don Wright against Kevin Sullivan/Whitey Caldwell. Thanks. Off topic, but has Kevin Sullivan ever discussed those days anywhere? Caldwell was supposedly a white hot babyface and all the Ron Wright heel stories I've ever heard are amazing.
  6. Isn't the the ownership of who actually owns the Memphis footage in great debate? Lawler and Jarrett did sell the promotion under all kinds of carny shady stuff, then they sold it again. There is some real legal issues there.
  7. Is this the Grahams? Jerry and one of his kayfabe brothers, or am I totally lost?
  8. "lol I'll just pretend you said penis" Haha! You win the thread!
  9. Didn't they do an angle where a photo of the two in a compromising position was circulating? I just saw the little segment they did about this. Rod Price said he was just cracking Tatums back. Ha.
  10. Ha I caught that promo. It was pretty terrible. Johnson and Hudson were trying to lead him through, but he couldn't put a sentence together. In all, these GWF episodes have a large percentage of unwatchable workers. On the bright side, I have new found respect for Gary Young and John Tatum. They have been solid.
  11. I DVR'd a bunch more of this and just saw a Billy Black & Joel Deaton tag match. They are as awesome as I remembered. Also, I've really liked John Tatum in every match I've seen of him on this TV loop.
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong. But these guys were the 1st big gaijin stars, right?
  13. I'm still sad Cornette didn't turn on them to manage a new team called the Galagas. The Space Invaders was right there. RIGHT THERE. Especially if they came out to the "dun. dun. dun. dun." music. I can see someone making that gimmick work in the territories. Downtown Bruno leads his newest acquisitions to the ring, two masked giants named Atari and Vector (loved that game), They beat up two jobbers, then Bruno cuts a promo. One of the jobbers has to be George South. It's not southern wrestling unless someone beats up George South at least once. Back on topic, this GWF marathon reminds me how little Eric Embry's babyface act works for me. Not that I dislike Embry, exactly. He always struck me as perfect for a chickenshit heel role. Instead, he's wrestling Akbar as babyface hero. Ugh. I might be in the minority, but I loved Embry as a babyface in WCCW. I like him as a heel also, especially the stuff from Memphis I've seen.
  14. I'm forwarding threw my DVR and catching up on todays Global... Bull Pain is in a squash vs Ben Jordan. He looks like a million bucks here. Much better than the match I saw earlier. His offense looks nasty and he comes across menacing like you'd expect. Craig Johnson > every other GWF announcer by a lot. Skandor Akbar seems to have no heat by this point. He'd probably just been around Dallas way too long by now. Scott Anthony just did a Vanilla Ice style rap promo. OMG. All joking aside, he oozes charisma and is clearly a better heel than almost every other person on the roster. Lightning Kid is awesome. We have a Scott Putski sighting, and an Al Perez sighting. My day is made. The GWF looooved ref bumps for finishes. Cactus Jack was a beast in his match vs Terry Gordy.
  15. I watched a little bit off and on today. The Gilbert vs Daniels match with the fireball was the best. I saw a guy I had never heard of before, named Calvin Knapp. He had a good look and did some pretty athletic stuff. A google search shows GWF is really the only notable place he ever worked. Rod Price and John Tatum as a team were pretty decent. Tatum was such a good crybaby heel. I think Bull Pain got better with age. The match I saw today was pretty underwhelming. Some of his offense looked like he didn't give a shit. Later when I saw him in IWA-MS, he was such a killer bad ass heel. Jerry Lynn's finishing move was the sleeper. Seriously. Not surprisingly, Eddie Giilbert was the best I saw all day by a country mile. Sam Houston looked so terrible in the match I saw. He had to be drunk or worse.
