  1. Thanks, but I got enough of that Oedipus-like shit my senior year of high school.
  2. If that's the case, you're watching the wrong stuff.
  3. Can't believe Maggie's actress actually cried on Talking Dead. God I hate Hollywood sometimes.
  4. I give this a year before they drop it.
  5. Called the Governor's death sequence halfway through the episode. Otherwise solid stuff all around, though now with the prison destroyed, sort of negates the first 5 episodes. And if anything, not enough babies have been eaten so far. I'll bite: what was with the zombie vagina in the wall that Tyrese found? Had no idea what that was supposed to be.
  6. I considered that joke, but since he apparently was letting someone else drive his car for a charity event, I felt a Tokyo Drift reference was dark enough as is.
  7. Looks like we'll be getting a Tokyo Drift sequel after all.
  8. Why not a lieutenant? Who are you to judge the pay grade scale?
  9. MoS was as good as a Superman movie could possibly be. My main issue with it was Zod, the highest ranking general on a whole planet who is supposed to be the villain for the entire movie, is bitched out by the protagonist's pencil-pushing pocket protector-wearing father 15 minutes into the film. So. Fucking. Stupid.
  10. ASM was decent, I wasn't blown away by it like I was the first one (Although that enthusiasm has waned in years), and I saw little reason to reboot the entire series.
  11. A Maximum Carnage movie would do ridiculous numbers. I see it happening sooner than later.
  12. The last movie had The Lizard so what do you mean by realistic? If a giant mutant lizard is their idea of realism then I think there's quite a few possibilities for the Goblin. The transformation into a lizard makes "sense" (and I use this word in the context of a comic book movie...) because Connors was experimenting with lizard DNA on himself. Why does Norman wear a fucking Goblin mask? Oscorp isn't in competition with Party City, it's not as if the Goblin costume provides him with any tactical advantages, Goblins aren't known to operate "gliding-type" machinery, he doesn't own a sports team named the Goblins, and he doesn't have any particular affinity towards Halloween. Why dress up as a Goblin and not, say, an Elf? Sméagol? At least if he takes a super-formula that physically alters his appearance as a side effect, you can say "Oh, THAT'S why he's the Green Goblin!"
  13. Point. I;m not sure what the conversation is since we established Batman won the rogues debate, but this feels off topic again. People were talking about how the regular movie going audience didn't care about Sandman, as if that would have any bearing on whether or not people actually saw the movie. 1) Both the first and second one had much more well-known villains than Sandman. 2) Not saying 3 wouldn't have done great numbers (1 did $820M, 2 did $780, 3 did $890, ASM did $750M) no matter who the bad guy was. But to say that it would've done those numbers with JUST Harry/Sandman, or rather, that the black suit wasn't the main reason why it's made the most out of all 4 so far, is just wrong. Again, despite the enormous success of the first two, there's a reason why Sony forced Raimi to include Venom against his wishes: Because that's what the people wanted. Depending on how big a role Goblin has in ASM2, will be interesting to see its numbers with Rhino and Electro.
  14. The people who like Venom/Carnage are the ones who grew up with FOX Spiderman/X-men cartoons and playing Separation Anxiety/Maximum Carnage all afternoon. That's the vast majority of the movie-paying audience for these types of films. You think Sony suits give two shits about what some 45 year old thinks about Sandman's character development since 1972?
  15. Green Goblin looked stupid, but I'm not sure how you don't make him look stupid unless you use his Ultimate version. I thought Doc Ock was fine for the second one (even if I'm indifferent to him in the comics), and the Lizard in ASM was about as hackneyed as a villain as it gets. Venom hates Spidey for ruining his life, and Carnage likes to kill shit because, hey, it's fun (Carnage's M.O. Always reminded me of The Joker's). What's good as a character is that Venom's motives don't necessarily make him BAD, it's just personal for him.
  16. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. The majority of my friends who love comic book movies (which I'm confident are a good representation of the general moviegoing audience) have never read a comic in their life, they know this shit from the FOX saturday morning cartoons and Genesis/SNES games. NO ONE who was excited about SM3 that didn't read the comics was pumped about the fucking Sandman. You're way deep in geekdom if you don't think Venom puts asses in seats. Why else would Sony have been so insistent on Raimi including Venom, when he said so long as he was making Spidey films there would be no Venom/Carnage, espcially considering how successful the first two films were? Cos their research showed that no one was excited to see Flint fucking Marko, EVERYONE (who isn't a comic book nerd) wanted Venom; hence why the suits let Sam keep Sandman while including Venom.
  17. I think FSW was behind Venom as an actual character, not his SM3 incarnation.
