  1. I didn't watch this but was interested in the main event, and from what I read, the best thing about this PPV was according to COOHH's, Thesz won the WHC on Raw bout 50 years ago. Fantastic stuff. Really.
  2. That's 19M more than Mr. Perry deserves.
  3. I can't believe there's people out there who decided to fork over their hard earned cash for A Madea Christmas.
  4. I loathe to make this comparison, but if WWE can pull off 5 hours of rasslin' a week, there's no reason why UFC can't do the same.
  5. Not when you compare them to what they did on FX just 6 months ago. Hell, the next fight night with Bigfoot vs. Hunt did just over 700,000. It is a sad world when more people saw Pena vs. Rakoczy than the HW FOTY. Their incessant "start and rebuild" over the 18 month period has just confused viewers. I don't think it's fair to compare the numbers from an established network like FX to one that's not even 6 months old. Again, UFC numbers routinely do better than almost every thing else on FS1. That's not a sign of UFCs weakness, but for the network. (And it's not as if Hunt/Bigfoot was a screaming FOTY candidate pre-show) TUF on FX was down from Spike except for the Chael/Jones season. The huge drop occurred with the move to FS1. I hate to play this card, but it's possible that a portion of the drop-off is due to women coaching. As entertaining as Rhonda has been.
  6. Prime-time numbers, FS1 was averaged 457,000 in November, 215,000 in October, and 246,000 in September, and it's highest ever viewership was 2.18M. So even if Fight Nights draw as low as mid-500,000 that's still a significant amount above their average viewership. And apparently TUF and its prelims and drew 1.13 million and 938,000 viewers, respectively. That's more than twice the FS1 monthly average. Ratings for the entire FS1 network aren't great, but it seems that UFC broadcasts are pulling their weight.
  7. GSP probably is their biggest draw, but it's not as if he was ever going to fight on free TV. Are TUF ratings down since the move to FS1, or since they left Spike? And what would be the plan if they got rid of the Fight Night cards? Just TUF, UFC on FOX, and PPVs?
  8. What have the numbers been? While the ratings may be low, I think in the long run, being on a legitimate sports channel (as opposed to Spike or even FX) will help the sport image-wise more than anything else.
  9. I was only 12 or 13 when 98 Godzilla came out, and up until that point every movie theater trip had been a wonderful experience. G98 changed all that, first film I ever watched that halfway through I realized I had been scammed out of time and money. Even Phantom Menance took two viewings to catch the snake oil.
  10. Are you auditioning for Slate? I'm already ghost writing Spitzer's columns.
  11. Knew it was really creepy. Anyone else want to proclaim the heroic greatness that is irrelevant, pedophiliac Indy?
  12. Pretty sure I saw Temple first too. I'm guessing it's because between the 3, it's the only one that was regularly in stock at Blockbuster. My observation about it's lack of quality is due to the fact that I saw it recently, and without Ford, it's not really good. Ridiculous, outlandish, bizarre? Yes. But not good.
  13. My guess? Goblin is the full fledged villain in ASM3 and is defeated, then recruits Sinister Six in ASM4, where they're only defeated once Spidey bonds with the symbiote, which sets Venom up for ASM5, and then his spin off.
  14. Well that explains why they flashed the Vulture and Doc Ock costumes in ASM2 trailer. Nice to know I was right about the Venom movie. So I guess its safe to assume neither Electro nor Rhino die at the end of this one.
  15. Although I like it more than you seem to, I think that's pretty much the consensus opinion. Temple is definitely the weakest of the three Indiana Jones movies. SO glad you said "three." Glenn~~! It's on a whole 'nother level of ridiculous. My suspicion is that if both the words "Indiana Jones" were removed from the title and Ford from the film, it would be a lot less favorably received. I too remember the money brains scene, a definite WTF moment for me way back when. Was she actually 14? I always assumed she was 16 or 17. Which isn't that much better, but still. I'd say between 14-16? Been a while since I watched it (Saw Temple just last year), but I remember it being a distinctively, uh, creepy number. 17 for the 1920s wouldn't have been so terrible, all things considered.
  16. It be easier to read if we didn't have to constantly check your footnotes* *Which are as distracting to posts as kids are to movies.** ** See? THAT'S thematically the same.
  17. I'm sure to lose some people with this statement, but Temple of Doom isn't that good. Really, Raiders (despite its massive flaw) and Last Crusade (so awesome) are the crux of the series.
  18. Do you remember at what point in the movie? Was it when Indy revealed to have fucked a 14 year old while doing his thesis? I probably would've walked out too.
  19. Yes! Wow forgot about the Voltron ones. No wonder I didn't get laid until college. Didn't have the heart to bring my Battra toy into the dorm.
