  1. Yes to KENTA/Morishima. I really really enjoyed it, pretty much for the reasons Kevin outlined. Both guys were smart and played to their strengths, there were some darn fine strike exchanges and KENTA flew around the ring while Morishima swatted at him in a most agreeable fashion. I didn't find it awkward at all, I thought everything seemed purposeful and mostly was executed well. I guess the finish could have had more drama, but I'd rather it was the way it was than it be overblown and outstay its welcome. I thought it pretty much made the show.
  2. I thought Morishima-KENTA was excellent, my favourite match of 2014 so far for the tiny amount that's worth. Big man swats at little man matches are my favourite matches. The rest I could take or leave, though Haste/Nicholls vs. Okabayashi/Ishikawa was a lot of fun.
  3. I have no idea why Kaz Hayashi decided to take that amount of punishment on WCW Worldwide of all the shows, but I'm absolutely delighted that he did.
  4. I think Richards brings out the worst in Edwards. Without him, I think Eddie's a pretty solid wrestler, a little bland, but less prone to the ridiculous excesses of Davey, and far more likeable outside the ring as well.
  5. I used to think Davey was great around 2008-09. He had a match with Kenta in ROH that loads of people, including me, liked a lot, but my tastes in wrestling have changed since then and I don't know whether I'd enjoy it as much now. I do know that around 2011 I started to notice him doing spots like the GIF posted above, and now I think his matches are pretty much the definition of wank- self indulgent and meaningless. He also sounds pretty unbearable outside of the ring as well. I'm not a supporter.
  6. Matches Roddy Piper vs. Greg Valentine, Dog Collar The Rockers vs. The Orient Express, Royal Rumble 1991 Bret Hart vs.. Owen Hart, Wrestlemania X Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon, Ladder Match II Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind, IYH Mind Games Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon, Street Fight Eddie Guerrero vs. Brock Lesnar, No Way Out 2004 Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle, Wrestlemania XX Book- Probably the first Foley one, though Chris Jericho's first wouldn't be a bad shout. Event- Money in the Bank 2011 DVD- The first Rey Mysterio three disc set. I could watch sprightly WCW Rey bounce all around the ring for my entire life without touching all the other stuff.
  7. I think I'll use my first ever post on this esteemed wrestling board to talk about literature! Hooray! I'm juggling a lot of books at the moment. I'm totally in love with Bright Lights, Big City by Jay McInerney, due to my short attention span I don't really get through books all that quickly but I'm so addicted to it. The 2nd person narration doesn't stick out like I feared it might and, actually, improves the book. The plot's got a great, fast pace to it. Often pretty funny as well, while still packing an emotional punch when it needs to I'm really getting a taste for the Brat Pack writers of the eighties, they're completely unpretentious, very easy to read and have bundles of sleazy, quirky plots that contrast very appealingly with my safe, geeky, middle class existence. Elsewhere I'm inching through a couple of soccer books and I've just started the Severed Alliance, which I could go either way on. I've almost finished my re-read of the Hitchhiker's Guide series but I've got stuck on the sixth which is nowhere near as good as I remembered it being. Still, on the whole, summer reading is going well.
