  1. Thanks a lot everyone. I'm doing my best. I got through Thursday thanks to my work buddies, and I had to babysit my niece yesterday, so I've been keeping distracted. But, it started hitting me last night. An old memory just popped into my head and I was simultaneously laughing and crying. I'm about to head in to work for my PT gig, and I'm honestly afriad that it's going to hit me in the middle of my shift when we're slammed. In addtion I've also slept like absolute shit the last two nights, and I realized at about 6 PM last night that all I'd eaten for the entire day were two cups of coffee that morning. Just for the hell of it, I stepped on the scale. I typically walk around in the 240-250 range, and I'm trying to get down to 225. Apparently, grief agrees with my weight loss, I tipped the scales at 227!
  2. My Aunt, who I was very close with, passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday at the ripe old age of 56. As you can imagine, we're all taking it really hard, although I'm not trying to pretend that it's impacting me the same way as it is her husband and children. For me, it hasn't really sunk in yet. I can honestly say I have a great support system, even being across the country. My wife and sister in law both are checking in with me, and my buddies at work made it their goal yesterday to keep me smiling and laughing as much as possible.
  3. My wife, who doesn't give two flying shits about football, was even getting into things as two games were winding down. My bro in law in a SF fan, and during the third quarter last night, we had to find out whether or not he was teaching our six month old niece any new colorful words (he was!).
  4. If Suh gets another shot at him, Stafford is getting dropped.
  5. George Kittle is admitted fan of Chicago Bears. Jimmy G. is from Arlington, IL. Robbie Gould is a Bears legend. Moral of the story is Chicago owns Rodgers.
  6. I started Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan earlier this week, which is the basis for the 2010 Bel Affleck film "The Town."
  7. I feel like letting it stand was the right call, if only because they realized they screwed up and decided to not penalize a team that hadn't done anything wrong. And, with now bad the Raiders defense was in the red zone, it's not exactly a longshot to think that if they replayed the down, that they couldn't have scored a first and/or TD anyway.
  8. The only explicit part I'm recalling is Aphrodite telling Hesphestos that there's a better chance of an orgy taking place between some of the gods/goddesses before she gets with him.
  9. Bears on fans on Twitter all day yesterday: Today is the day that Matt Nagy gets fired! Me: I highly doubt it, since Chicago has never fired a coach during the regular season. Bears fans: Today is the day, just wait! Matt Nagy: Yes I'll be coaching the last two games of the season.
  10. My wife and I finished the main story of "Immortals Fenyx Rising" last night. It's very challenging, but in the fun way that makes you really proud of yourself when you figure out the puzzle or what to do to get over that seemingly impossibly high wall to the next section of the game. It's not exactly child friendly with some of the dialogue. At one point you rescue Ares after he was turned into a chicken, and Aphrodite asks him if he has any chicken left, he says no, and she says "Some fantasies are best left unfulfilled"
  11. I got a t-shirt from my older daughter that says "I Just Want To Drink Beer And Pet My Dog" (completely accurate!), my younger daughter gave me a coffee mug with Pigpen on it, and my wife got me two storage boxes for my tons of loose wrestling DVDs that I have laying around, and two of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon books. No crazed political talk, but we did have a close one. My sister in law back in NY came down with covid, so she's kinda freaking out since she was around so many people, including her dying Grandmother. Her best friend was telling her "It's not a big deal, it's probably just a cold and you're overreacting." my wife and I were half expecting to hear that she thinks all the covid tests are rigged to come up positive too.
  12. 2021 had its ups and downs for me and my family, and here's to hoping that 2022 brings higher highs and lesser lows!
  13. My wife loves her work. We hit up a used bookstore in Texas a few months ago and she grabbed five or six of her books. Ironically enough, the night before she passed we had an extra audible credit to use, and after hemming and hawing about what to get, she chose an Anne Rice book.
  14. They play the injury ravanged Vikings on Thursday Night, don't bring in the priest for Last Rites just yet...
  15. Stafford should be used to it. He's been picked apart in Lambeau plenty of times.
  16. The crack potatoes were a big hit with the baby. Her mom would give her a little spoonful and when she wasn't ready with another one, the baby would start waving her hand and then look at her father like "Can we hurry this along?"
  17. How great of a city is Chicago? During the commerical breaks and lulls between matches, there were chants of "Fire Nagy!"
  18. AEW opens up their TV show with a 20 minute promo segment. And it freaking RULES! It's not the kind of thing that I want to see from them every week, but in capable hands like Punk and MJF, it worked perfectly.
  19. We are making the turkey and green been casserole (?). My mother in law is making her mashed potatoes. Or, as my sister in law and I call them, her crack potatoes. I'm not sure what my sister in law is making, but she's bringing my neice (five months old today) so she's really making the biggest contribution.
  20. Until two weeks ago my wife was an assistant school librarian. She had to leave the position because the full time librarian was making her life a living hell. To the point that she wouldn't even talk to her directly, but would instead fire out nasty emails with the principal copied to them. My wife told the principal that it's not working out and as much she loves the library (she's actually taking classes to get her librarian license) and wants to be there full time, this is going to make her hate it. The principal has her working with Special Ed (her job before the library) and doing any other misc duties that they need, and she's been assured that when it's available that the next librarian is going to be her. The librarian's last name is Mitchell, so we've taken to calling her "Bitchell" and playing the Cartman song about Kyle's mom.
  21. One of my work buddies and I were watching a video of a dude ranking all of Stephen King/Richard Bachman's novels, mostly for him to decide what he wanted to read next. He wound up choosing "The Stand." More than a year ago we listened to the audible version of "IT" (narrated by Stephen Weber, and made us laugh our asses off), and he hasn't read anything since that has really stuck with him. During that video, I saw a book that I'd never heard of called "Mr. Mercedes" which I'm currently reading and absolutely loving. I've always been a big fan of murder mystery and private eye stories anyway, so this is a match made in heaven for me. I understand that this is actually the first part of a trilogy, but I'm gonna wait a bit before I dive into the second book, just because I'm loving this one so much and really want to take it all in.
  22. Tony Romo said it best. They were an absolutely stout defense for fifty-eight minutes!
  23. The coach who actually went onto the field in order to stop a Ravens kickoff return for TD is in favor of cleaning up the game.
  24. The penalties absolutely hurt us, especially that taunting one after the sack. But holy shit did the refs screw Chicago over tonight. That TD coming back was criminal, and the cheap shot on Fields after that was just adding insult.
  25. I honestly was. Just so the brass could tell Rodgers “no thanks” whenever he’s ready to come back.
