  1. I've moved on from Live and Let Die, and am now about a third of the way through Moonraker. And, it includes the most ironic quote. When M is asking Bond what he knows about Drax, Bond comments that "He's a something of a lonsdale figure."
  2. I've always thought For Your Eyes Only was generally considered the best Moore film. I've heard that Moore himself objected to the scene where he stomps the car off the cliff, he wanted to drop the dove pin and have that cause the car to fall. I personally think Octopussy is underappreciated. Some of the scenes in India are bad, like the Tarzan yell, but the auction scene and the whole atomic bomb storyline come off really well.
  3. Read Fleming's original novel. A few pages in and there's mentions of the Japs, Chinamen, and Negroes (and Mr. Big's car being driven by a Negroess). The novel is still pretty bad ass though, way better than anything in the film.
  4. In the first few pages he's referencing the Japs, Chinamen, Negroes, and a Negroess. Live and Let Die is generally considered one of the better Moore films, but, the original novel kills it in every aspect.
  5. A friend on mine on FB has been going through and re-watching all of the James Bond films, and it's motivated me to go back and re-read the novels. I finished Live and Let Die last night, and it only makes me hate the Roger Moore era of comedy and bad puns that much more. It's also amusing to read today, because if this were written exactly how Fleming wrote it in 1952, he'd be branded a racist and there would probably be protests and calls for boycotts.
  6. I loved the original Ghost Recon for Xbox, so when Microsoft had a sale a couple of weeks back I downloaded Ghost Recon Wildlands. It's a mad fun game, once I figured out how to play. That was my main problem, after the first mission, I was left to my own devices and I had no fucking clue what to do. I only figured things out thanks to watching a YouTube tutorial.
  7. No man, apparently the entire series was her book. She made references to not knowing what really happened to Artie but "in my book, I sent him to outer space." Jackie was really a lesbian, Becky was with David and Darlene was with Mark. Off topic, sort of. But, on Sunday night my eight year old was going out of her way to be as big a pain in the ass as possible. At one point I got up and cleared out the kitchen sink, hoping she'd follow me in the kitchen to see what I was doing.
  8. Well, I'm only an hour into my shift, and I'm already thrououghly amused for the day. I got an email lecture from my supervisor, telling me that he was disapointed in my productivity from the weekend. Basically, I only did my work, and I should have also done someone else's work too. The someone else is the CEO's son. Who has always been a nice guy to me, but he's a lazy fuck. And, due to being a lazy fuck, he's gone through several different job descriptions, because he never gets anything done. From mid Febuary to mid March, the office was insanely busy. I was expected to not only do my own work, but also help the rest of the office out any way that I could, because there was so much to do, and so few people to do it. The only person not asked to help out? The Prince! He got to work his eight hours with weekends off, while I (and everyone else) put in tons of extra time and hours to keep up with the madness. So, now that I'm finally past all that, I'm expected to do my work *AND* do his work too.
  9. Not necessarily. The whole series was apparently Roseanne's writing. In the original finale, she'd said that she changed some things around from how they really happened, such as Becky being with David and Mark being with Darlene. So, Harris could have been born a few years later, and she just wrote about her as being born in '97.
  10. Since I can't find anything like it down here, my best friend is sending me a can of Sam Adams New England IPA and a Sloop Brewing Juice Bomb, which is apparently a double dry hopped special edition.
  11. Between this the rumors that Gronk may not return. My best friend is freaking out right now.
  12. The wife and I were big fans of the original series. After the first episode we both wished they'd left it alone, the second episode was much better. I'm hoping that they leave the politics in the first episode, because that's the thing that mostly dragged it down for me. ABC has this nasty habit of letting politics get in the way of their shows. Does anyone remember that episode of Last Man Standing where Eve wasn't sure who to vote for?
  13. The Punisher logo. Punisher has always been my favorite comics character.
  14. I've had SBJ and Misfit Red. I liked the Misfit Red a whole lot better, just for not having that nasty aftertaste that I always got from Killians or Sam Adams Irish Reds.
  15. Oh man, one thing I seriously miss about living in NY is STBC. I never had the Thick Mint, but I loved the Chokolat, Chokolat Oranj, and Creme Brulee. I didn't care much for Sweet Baby Jesus. I think it's a porter thing, most of them seem to have this watery taste to them that I can't get past. The only ones I'm recalling liking offhand are Founders porter and Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald.
  16. I got a case of Sam '76 for my brother-in-law and I to drink tomorrow. I couldn't wait two days and cracked one open last night. At first I thought it was just a mild regular beer, and nothing really special. But, after a few sips I found myself really appreciating just how good and how well-made it is, for being just a mild regular beer.
  17. I was one proud papa yesterday. My kids' school does nine-week award ceremonies. Basically recognizing academic and personal achievments that kids accomplish every quarter. My kindergartener always gets a bunch of them for her progress in reading and math. Well, they each got a very special one yesterday. My 2nd grader got a "Most Improved" award for all the progress she's made socially. She's very shy and has terrible social anxiety. But, she has really blossomed a lot this year. When she started at the school in October, it was a struggle for her to get anything out without a lot of prompting. But, now she participates regulary in class discussions and always has a lot to say. My Kindergartener got her usual truckload, but also got what they call a "Character Award" (basically for being a good person) and was the only one in her grade to get it.
  18. My best friend got me "Unbelievable" by Katy Tur, its her account of her time following Trump during the election. Once I started reading, I coudln't put it down. No matter what your political views are, it's an interesting read just to see what kind of crazy life she had to live for all those months. Living in and out of hotels and suitcases, preparing to do on-camera updates with only minutes notice, having to deal with Trump and his people directly.
  19. Since I moved to NM, the only Founders I can find is Backwoods Bastard. I had to shell out damn near an arm and a leg to get a bottle of CBS shipped to me. It looks like I'll be doing that again when KBS become available in 4 packs.
  20. KBS is one of my all time favorites. A couple of years ago, a local craft beer market held a stout competition, Founders KBS vs. Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout, and KBS won in a landslide.
  21. Sounds promising RID, I'm crossing all of the above for you!
  22. The school my girls go to has thing called "Talent Tuesday" basically a mini talent show during lunch period. My kindergartender decided she wanted to sing a song for Talent Tuesday. What song? Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) by Motley Crue. Her principal now thinks she's the coolest kid in Kindergarten.
  23. We've had a couple of high wind warnings, which always been to be on the days that we want to do yardwork. Which basically just means the temperature is in the sixties or seventies, but with some strong wind. We much prefer it to winter storm warnings, lake effect snow warnings, flash flood warnings, etc. The problem with being satellite employees is that we get harrassed about working extra hours, because of all the call outs in the office due to the weather.
  24. Brady is now listed as questionable for Sunday because of his thumb. My best friend ( a diehard Pats fan) suggests it's Fake News!
