  1. things I remember from this week's edition of Dynamite

I don't watch with a high volume and it had been a few weeks since I watched and I didn't know the lineup beforehand so I thought the Young Bucks beat the Hardys in the open until I checked and realized it was the Gunns and not the Bucks. Which would explain the heeling. When did the Hardys get so fucked up that they dropped doing backbumps for the Twist of Fate?. Huge schmozz postmatch, Hardys disappear, and CM Punk shows up

The Concession Stand Brawl ends in the ring, naturally. Some fun spots.

I had to doublecheck to see if/why Jericho's teaming with Minoru Suzuki. Sting and Jericho in the same ring

MJF and Cole are teaming up?

CM Punk just had his PPV match announced in a graphic?

Some fun spots in the OC tag match

Statlander/Tara had some fun spots to go with the one sloppy apron spot

MJF had never been on Rampage before? We're still doing special things for Rampage?

Our main event is Eddie Kingston addressing his enemies talking. Here comes Moxley through the crowd. Moxley/KIngston is the sort of fight you'd see in a shitty bar about the conduct in a pool game. We got a brawl with the BCC and Kingston and friends. Naturally a 10 man tag must be built up by having a brawl like it's Survivor Series season. Okada just towers over Danielson. Danielson accidentally takes out Yuta and the Bull of da woods Kaz Okada stands tall at the end of the night.

See ya on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday!

  2. extra Reddit-related post, what would be the most unusual subreddit to steal spots from and why would it involve stealing from videos of randos fighting on /r/fightporn?

(okay, to clarify, most unusual safe for work subreddit, because it would be weirder to steal spots from UltimateSurrender videos, if you don't know what that is, don't worry)

  3. 13 minutes in and the Borne episode is brought to you by Brian Blair implying that Matt Borne was on angeldust (or some other drug) trying to fight him

also, what is Jim Duggan's accent now? he's a native of Upstate NY but he's lived in the south for years, so..

edit: shocking 90s USWA cameo from a Matt Borne girlfriend

    Spoiler

the police report makes it sound like the former USWA Nurse Krachet did a Death of Stalin (or Walt with Jane in Breaking Bad) to Matt Borne

I wish I loved anything as much as old school southern wrestilng fetishists love overlooking that like 99% of old school southern wrestlers are the absolute worst dirtbags.

not to be confused with old school non-southern wrestlers who are also dirtbags

  5. Super-niche storyline idea for one of these prodigy young wrestlers: back in the 1960s, Major League Baseball had a bonus rule requiring anybody signed for more than (x) to remain on a major league roster for 2 seasons. Well, in that spirit, a storyline where some new wrestler signed for "so much" that they have to stick around the main shows instead of getting seasoned on the shows that weren't actually on TV.

Basically, "take your lumps up here instead of being put in ROH". On paper, it's a dumb idea (so was the bonus rule) but maybe it could build an underdog, or it might accidentally make the guy seem like a jobber from the start. I think the inverse version would be "making someone seem like Action Andretti by giving them a huge win in their debut and then not doing much with them after that"

Anyways... congrats to Nick Wayne on his upcoming "Wild Boys" tag team with Hook.

  6. One upside to R/SC is rb_reigns posts

His latest post from tonight: “The Usos are going to get the beating of their life sometime soon by Roman Reigns. This will be the last time they are relevant because if not for Roman Reigns, no one would've been talking about the Usos or cared about them the past several years”

  7. you'd think a subreddit covering something dominated by Vince McMahon would have been better prepared for "the people running things are stubborn and won't change their ways"

SC is good for gifs and clips of things I didn't watch live.

Hopefully the guy with the same name as a DailyMotion legend returns to blatantly posting long match clips soon.

  8. next week on Between the Sheets will be 2012 (including the first week of the Full Sail NXT era and a segment with special guest Colby Corino), make sure to clear 8 hours on your schedule for that episode

    meanwhile this week:

    Spoiler

"I don't think we've had any cars blasting Jamaican dancehouse... Jamaican dancehall music yet, have we?"

"No, but Jamaican me crazy Bix"

    "Thank you Mike Adamle"

    Squared Circle is back

I think all the subreddits I'm following are back now... unless I totally forgot somebody

You know somebody on Reddit has had their ego hurt that the admins aren't threatening them to reopen their subreddit. At least I get the fun of keeping an eye on Reddark and occasionally figuring out that 50 subreddits opened up in 5 minutes because some user is moderating 50 subreddits that average 1000 users each

  10. not sure if there's a waiting period of pondering the next hire for a program that just had their head coach resign but... it feels like they'd just go to an assistant for at least the next season, and then open it up in 9 months

anyways, Huggins sure did stick around for a long time for someone who didn't make it past the Sweet 16 after Robert Byrd died

  11. as someone who doesn't do any Reddit moderating, the Reddit blackout saga is sorta interesting peoplewatching (not sure if there's a better place to post about this)

right now, there's 4200 subreddits that are private, a number that's dropping gradually partly due to admins threatening to replace mods and the such

and in some of the communities, the mods open up, and get blasted from all sides... like the NBA subreddit being down during the NBA finals.. also, if there's a split opinion about some topic, and the people who support one side start leaving, then the support of that site on the site will go down

two things probably hold true about internet things and we occasionally forget them

    1) unless you're on Facebook, your social media bubble likely isn't as important as you think it is. Twitter acts this way when they punch above their weight due to reporters being all over Twitter. Reddit acts like this in a few ways during the blackout (there's a reason why "We Did It Reddit" is an enduring sarcastic phrase on that site)

    2) all the internet stuff you post is actually gonna disappear one day. Unless you have physical copies of your stuff, it's not all gonna stay up forever. How many incarnations of this board no longer exist in any form? aside from error or a site owner just taking it all down, sites don't disappear instantly, but they can become irrelevant and people can go do other things

As for the actual blackout... well, it turns out that if you're moderating and not getting paid for it, your leverage really only goes so far. Which is nicer than the person who typed that this whole thing seemed like hall monitors acting like they owned the school. Ideally the Reddit mods should seem kinda invisible unless you're being a jackass. It doesn't always work like that which probably limits some of their appeal in an Admins vs Mods battle on that site

  12. i've never known for prosecutions of notable people to move that quickly short of situations like Huggins pleading no contest to a DUI when he was the Cincy HC

They might revoke his drivers license and act like that's enough of a punishment for someone who could just do a Billy Martin and get a lackey to drive him around

  13. Huggins turns 70 before this season starts. It feels like a 70 year old alcoholic doesn't really have a lot of time left as a Power 5 Conference basketball coach.

Of course this wouldn't be the first time that Huggins getting a DUI would cause him to get fired over the summer.

  14. I don't know if Glenda Jackson is the only person to win two Oscars and serve in the British Parliament but she passed away yesterday at 87

She won Best Actress twice, for Women In Love in 1970 and A Touch Of Class in 1973. She was a member of Parliament from 1992 to 2015.

The other Best Actress nominees in those years: Jane Alexander (The Great White Hope), Ali MacGraw (Love Story), Sarah Miles (Ryan's Daughter), and Carrie Snodgress (Diary of a Mad Housewife) in 1970. In 1973, she defeated Ellen Burstyn (The Exorcist), Marsha Mason (Cinderella Liberty), Barbara Streisand (The Way We Were) and Joanne Woodward (Summer Wishes Winter Dreams)

  15. looking at HistoryOfWWE

WWF Superstars, 7/23/88 – included Craig DeGeorge conducting an interview with Ted Dibiase, Virgil, Andre the Giant, & Bobby Heenan where they accepted Randy Savage’s offer for a tag team match, with DeGeorge announcing Jesse Ventura had been selected to be the guest referee

Wrestling Challenge, 8/21/88 – featured the Brother Love Show in which Ted Dibiase & Andre the Giant attempted to bribe guest referee Jesse Ventura prior to the Summer Slam main event, with Dibiase placing several $100 bills inside Ventura’s pocket

Wrestling Challenge, 8/28/88 – included Andre the Giant, Ted Dibiase, Bobby Heenan, & Virgil as guests of the Brother Love Show where they discussed their involvement at Summer Slam; featured a ‘Special Report’ segment which included comments from Jesse Ventura, with Ventura saying he would take money from anyone, in reference to last week’s Brother Love Show, and that there would be a winning team at Summer Slam and that would be the real payoff

  16. "Brett Favre? Brett Favre was bumming money for gas when I was selling out the world. Brett Favre was freeloading off my good name. The government is only going after me and my family because we're rich and we're famous and they're jealous. I could buy and sell every one of those Mississippi redneck politicians but they're not worth my money. They should feel honored that I own land in their stinking worthless state. I should have moved to Florida like every other wrestler years ago because they know how to treat people in Florida. I will make sure the case will go away faster than college educated people leaving Mississippi. Everybody has a price for the Million Dollar Man. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

If Rubin has Heyman on his podcast, you'd think Jim would be a future guest, unless (shockingly) he has burnt that bridge.

If I had to guess, Rubin is probably more in the group of people that Jim hasn't talked to because neither has the others current contact info

Sorta like how listeners had to skiptrace Norman Dooley to get him in contact with Jim, and Dooley lived on the other side of the river from Jim
