  1. I'll be contrarian. Overall, I did not like this film at all. It was borderline plagiarist at times to Black Panther with respect of the plot. The dialogue was awful, and the more awful it was, the more obvious it was that it was phoned in by whoever was delivering it. Way too signposted for 2.5 hours. I left wanting a Nicole Kidman origins film. In fact, I can't remember the last bad Nicole Kidman film I've seen. She's been awesome in everything I've seen her in the last 18 months.
  2. I feel like they were really pulling out all the stops to ensure Balor is seen as THE GUY. Heel Authority buries them, wrestles multiple times in one night, OVERCOMES THE ODDS, Cena endorsement. Realistically it was more an exercise in trying to retcon the last 2 years of Just Another Guy.
  3. I want a 20 minute THE DEMON KING entrance and Brock F5's him in 5 seconds for a clean pin.
  4. I went last night. Took ages to get in. Unlucky not to win the first set, got creamed in the second, and probably lucky to win the third. Dominated RBA in the fourth far more than 7-6 alludes. Midway through the third he effectively gave up and just started swinging for anything, and the crowd carried him through. Was an amazing atmosphere. Annoyed to get a text midway through fourth set tiebreak advising cloak room was shutting at 11pm and I needed to collect my laptop bag. I think Tsitipatas could win the tournament.
  5. I mean, for all the overdone talk about authority figures being a played out trope in wrestling. I'll say that announcers and colour commentators are even more played out. Realistically, I don't need, nor does a casual viewer need to be told what's happening here because it either is so painfully obvious what's happening to anyone with a room temperature IQ, or its so convoluted that any anthropologist couldn't explain what's going on. Conversely, I don't switch on GOT to be told "Vintage Jon Snow!", "the Mountain is rolling here!". Everyone wants a new Bobby Heenan and shits all over anyone who tries to be because they're not. Just find a new way to further the story you're trying to tell rather than the one that every other entertainment form does not use, but rather the sports product that it is most certainly, definitely, absolutely not.
  6. I think the Freebirds have to be considered here, and by default the non-Kerry Von Erichs
  7. I hadn't considered that, that would definitely work also. I was thinking more along the lines of an actual promotion, broadcast in the same way Oz/Breaking Bad/The Wire is portrayed. The face/heel alignment is generally based on from whose perspective the shot is filmed from, it isn't broadcast as a spectator sport so much as a drama that just happens to lead to in-ring stuff.
  8. Could a wrestling show done by HBO, where it's clearly edited in the way any other HBO show is, rather than emphasizing the live action component, and gives the adult themes that you'd expect from a HBO show, and that people fondly recall of the attitude era, but done as safely as possible in that context to avoid unnecessary injuries/concussions/etc work? Prolongs guys careers, gives the adult themes you can't get from today's wrestling, and makes you feel a bit less guilty demanding blood/bumps/etc when you know that they're not exactly killing themselves to provide it?
  9. I seem to recall some ridiculous explanation as him receiving a payout due to being hit by a Pizza Hut delivery driver, he didn't want to show his face on TV?
  10. There's a Blue Blazer interview on an episode of SNME where he talks about jumping onto Ted Dibiase from the rafters if he has to. Probably better off removing that one...
  11. I think there's a genuine argument for Hogan vs Akeem on SNME being Hogan's best ever match. The crowd are really into it, the heat segment on Hogan generates genuine sympathy and concern, Hogan mixes up his formula a bit to accommodate mocking Akeem some, the crowd really enjoys the comeback, and loses their shit for the Bossman cut-off. Everyone comes off great here and play their role really well.
  12. I wish ABC had taken a punt on Vince McMahon instead of Bob Saget in the Danny Tanner role for Full House. Whether you leave everything else as is and just watch the show implode as coked up Vince constantly pitches Olsen incest storylines to the writing team, or "Suddenly, one day in Greenwich CT, Danny Tanner's wife, Linda dies suddenly in a cocaine accident and leaves Danny to raise his two kids, and decides to invite his two friends, Gorilla and Pat along for the ride (who plays Stamos and Coulier respectively is up to you)" is line ball.
  13. Watching Duggan's WWF debut on the Network. How was he not a heel?
  14. If you're looking for a relatively mindless date night movie, you can do a lot worse than Support The Girls. Really enjoyable.
  15. Loved Green Book, really hope it wins Best Picture. Great character depth of both guys. Can appreciate that it was a really simple take on segregation and institutional racism that was distracting and frustrating at times. The Favorite I didn't really enjoy at all. Overemphasis on wacky voices and period piece costumes, and a real obsession with rape jokes throughout. Interesting, but ultimately,, not fantastic. The distracting harpischord throughout did me no favors. Beautiful Boy was rough viewing, but I think pulled no punches in that situation, and was realistic as it could be.
  16. Becky beats Asuka, Charlotte wins the Rumble. Charlotte costs Ronda the match against Sasha. Ronda moves to Smackdown after Mania with the impending Fox move in exchange for Asuka. Asuka/Sasha at Mania isn't one they've done much.
  17. I kinda want an Orton-Cena-Batista-Lesnar match to headline. Enough part timers to carry one match, you could probably even get Jim Cornette in to do promo duty with Heyman. And Shelton Benjamin will still take the most bumps.
  18. Also, Ambrose running in to help Drew just minutes after bragging about being responsible for the break up of the Shield seemed a bit ehhh.
  19. Also what's with the Revival hashtag? Aside from not knowing what the acronym stands for, why does the team that worships old school tag team wrestling and no high spots spend all their time getting into Twitter fights and trying to make their hashtag work?
