  1. In an isolated context, I agree. Especially this early on. It just means the ending makes little sense as a result.
  2. Saw Spiderman last night. Pros: * - Keaton was probably the best Marvel villain yet, at least top 3 allowing for hyperbole. He's almost too good, makes too many good points for you to not sit there and think "Hey, yeah, fuck Tony Stark". * - Liked the move away from Mary Jane/Jonah Jameson/Daily Bugle etc * - Great soundtrack. Marvel always get these right. * - Generally a nice, needed change of pace for their films too. Cons: * - Unsold on Tom Holland. Right vibe for what he needed to be, far better than Andrew Garfield, but if you want a Michael Cera impersonation, why not just get Michael Cera. * - Spiderman gets booked like Bret Hart in early 96. Gets made to look weak at every opportunity, escapes by luck, hubris or help at every opportunity, and so the ending doesn't quite sit well with me.
  3. If anyone wants a free PDF copy of OSJ's book with the font changed to Comic Sans and the really out of context blowjob scene from Good Will Hunting thrown into a chapter, let me know.
  4. Jesus. Mike and Kerry look in better condition than Billy Gunn Von Erich.
  5. Another year of the Lakers aimlessly signing guys with no real direction/purpose other than cap considerations. Rondo....Hill....Waiters. We could genuinely be worse than last year if Ball is the shit show I suspect he'll be. Why decide that D'Lo's antics weren't worth the hassle, but then went and pick a guy like Ball instead? Is there a plan if George decides to stay in OKC/go elsewhere? 34 year old Lebron?
  6. Thing that makes me uncertain is that they'd just done a similar scenario with MVP chasing Benoit, and it was booked really well (getting destroyed first match, narrowly coming up on the losing end, and then 2/3 falls countering everything and winning decisively).
  7. Given the Benoit thread going on - flippant question I know, but had it not occurred, what was the plan for the title at the time? Benoit vs Punk was scheduled, Nitro out of nowhere instead. Does Punk go over? Does the Nitro/Morrison push still go ahead as scheduled?
  8. The entire 1988 WWF roster joining in on a sing-a-long of "Hold Me Closer Tony Garea" on a bus ride from a flea market house show to a high school gym didn't quite hold the viewer's attention as much as the original did, and Bret Hart seemed pretty adamant that no-one got a boner watching Fabulous Moolah in the Kate Hudson role, but nonetheless, 99c was a bargain.
  9. That was embarrassing. Weren't too many at the bar I watched it at thinking Pacq didn't win by 1 or 2, and that maybe Horn made up ground late in the last flurry. unbelievable that someone gave it 117-111. Place went unglued when winner announced, but wow, dirty fight, shit reffing too.
  10. I get the talking point that Goldberg was getting booed out the building at the time, so, why not turn him heel with streak in tact, and if there was such investment in Nash being the guy to do it, have him chase him a bit more as the face, rather than bringing back the NWO as a heel unit. Konnan was very over at the time, let Goldberg run through him and destroy him too. Maybe put Sting on the shelf so he can go film Shutterspeed. Run through Luger.
  11. Wonder how they would have gone giving it to Bret, and having them try to recreate Bret/Austin, with Goldberg passing out in the sharpshooter. Doesn't eat a visual pin/never gives up, but it's the first loss?
  12. if not Nash - who ends Goldberg's streak?
  13. It just occurred to me that they've really done absolutely nothing with Mojo since he won the battle royale at Mania. Repackaging him as a Bernie Bro would have been awesome.
  14. In the context where he had Scarlett Johansson on earlier, and gushed over how good her latest film was, making it clear that he'd actually seen the film/enjoyed it/implied he'd recommended it, as opposed to "Well, tell me about it/haven't actually watched it yet", made it seem a bit "Ehh, just do your thing and get out"
  15. To me asking questions that you'd either already know the answer to when you're as good/experienced as Colbert is, or just didn't bother googling, like "where do you live now?", "you've got a new show out? Where is it airing on?", just seemed deliberately unprofessional/unnecessary.
  16. I hope there's something on Raw that sees a BBB shoe used as a foreign object in the way womens heels were on Nitro every week in its early days, and a guy like Heath Slater sells it for half the program.
  17. Entirely my point. A team with Butler as their second best player aren't getting near the Warriors, or the Cavs for the matter.
  18. Any thoughts on the Colbert/Bill Burr stuff from the other week? Burr deserved it, but Colbert was a total dick.
  19. Ideally, he's your third best player. Does enough to consistently churn out his 20 or so to be a threat, and does his thing defensively. I don't think he's even good enough to compete with a Kyrie or Curry as the second best player/second option. More than handy Kevin Love/Klay Thompson type in a contending team. Realistically, Boston probably run in to the same issue that Chicago had in retaining him.
  20. Call me unsold on Butler being a guy that makes a good team a contender. An average team to playoffs, yes, sure. A guy that limited from outside stands out like a sore thumb against his contemporaries for mine.
  21. We had a ten minute long "faggot" chant followed by the same guys urging Bull James to "suck it" during a resthold in a match with Billy Gunn straight after.
  22. Where does Tommy Dreamer sit in terms of wrestling's biggest carneys? Having just paid $60 to sit through a House of Hardcore show where there was probably a total of ten bumps on a three hour show, half the matches comedy matches using the same spots as the match before, and most of the rest doing the same tired indy meta "hey, we're not really working, haha, let's ironically lock up and chain wrestle" garbage, I'm torn between being glad relieved for him that he's not out there destroying what's left of himself in meaningless indy matches, but also find it kinda shady that he continues to book himself in hardcore matches where he takes no bumps, and then proceeds to close the show with the same promo he's cut on every show since ECW closed down, that varies between grossly insincere and long term effects of concussions. Thoughts?
  23. Bushwhacker looking motherfucker.
