  1. It's as simple as having him duck Page until the Anxious Millenial Cowboy costs him the Impact Title. Then his ego gets the better of him and he accepts the challenge. Heck, they've had NWA and IWGP titles defended on Dynamite - they could even have it happen there. More eyes on the product for Impact, and AEW doesn't have their champ losing on somebody else's show.
  2. They'd need to run Charlotte vs. Shayna, since the latter is billed as the Queen of Spades for some reason.
  3. I just saw it reported that she had announced she was leaving earlier that day. I didn't see a mention of where she was going. Maybe Sunglasses Hut?
  4. Shouldn't they be recruiting from chess clubs, then? You know, AEW now has two Pages, two Cages, and two.... Wheelers.
  5. Jay White really looks like somebody... An actor, I think? Maybe Adrian Brody? And sorry, Dean, but Hogan's leaving Impact.
  6. I agree. But I think they should keep Angelico from standing too close to Luchasaurus, they're practically the same height. I felt like Tormenta and Shida started out strong, but their styles didn't really mesh as the match went on. And Fuego was over like rover.
  7. I'm going to go out on a limb and say within a couple of weeks of live crowds, McIntyre will be getting that reaction regardless.
  8. Speaking of Jade Cargill, wasn't the idea of pairing her with Smart Mark Sterling to let him do the talking? Because for all that she has The Look, she has about 0 charisma once she opens her mouth. She doesn't even sound convincing hitting her contractually mandated catch phrase.
  9. They let me exercise my fast-forward button.
  10. Y'all wishing they would bring back the nWo better not be the same folks hating on the Elite in AEW. Besides, the nWo gimmick started out as an "invasion". Who's going to invade the WWE these days? More to the point, who would they allow to get one over on them? They had an entire company to work with after buying WCW and couldn't get it to work. Nexus started out promising. We all saw where that went.
  11. I kind of like it. It's a bit busy for my tastes, but I appreciate the effort.
  12. Good thing they kept Roman off so he wouldn't have to take the blame.
  13. Depends. Who would you call the faces in the other women's matches? One thing I'll say is that they had four women's matches, with four separate storylines (quality notwithstanding.) That's not something to overlook.
  14. Is that Thunder Rosa shirt the first time someone's gotten merch from a promotion other than the one they're contracted to?
  15. With the beard, W Morrissey (what a terrible name) looks unsettlingly like giant-size Edge.
  16. Free ship? 100% Make USA? Why can't they just put that on a shirt?
  17. It's weird, I remember them using the term "medical facility" not "Medical centre", but maybe I'm thinking of something else... As for the phrase "blown up", it may just be to keep the wrestlers from getting on Vince's bad side. Remember when Truth wound up in the dog house when he asked for a bottle of water during his gauntlet run? It looked like he was getting set for a push, and then suddenly he was on the way to becoming, well, the Truth we have now.
  18. I hope they have back-up stunt people for when she injures the first batch.
  19. You know, between their size, surnames, and almost-but-not-quite getting a rub from working with Daniel Bryan, I had forgotten Gulak and Gable weren't the same person.
  20. He looks like British comedian Johnny Vegas.
  21. Random question inspired by a dream last night - other than David Otunga, are/were there any other lawyer/wrestlers out there?
  22. Everyone talked about Crow Sting/Undertaker as a dream match, but if you ask me it was Surfer Sting, not Crow Sting, that would have been the perfect foil for Taker. He had the upbeat energy and visual aesthetic that would have been a perfect contrast with the darker, more methodical Dead Man.
  23. I think the issue is that "African-American who is proud of his heritage" is not, in and of itself, problematic; the problem is that the gimmick is intertwined with his heel turn. From Pez Whatley turning on Valiant, to the Nation of Domination, this combination is nothing new in wrestling, but the two aren't as inherently linked outside of wrestling as they once were. Reginald, on the other hand, is another in a long line of servant characters, both inside and outside of wrestling. One could write an entire thesis (and doubtless someone has) on the throughline from Gone With the Wind and Steppin Fetchit to Benson and that weird Civil War spy tv show that somehow won a Humanitas award, and on into the modern era. But I'm not speaking from a lived experience, so please forgive me if I'm wrong.
