  1. Even if they get past the Bucs tonight, no way the Cards take L.A.
  2. I wonder what the deal with Keissling is.
  3. I hope the Cards get owned.
  4. My reign as high vote king will probably start winding down the higher we climb.
  5. All this talk just makes me miss the Expos all the more. I really hope that feasibility study shows that baseball can still be supported in Montreal and that the team comes back in some form.
  6. It sucks to hear that Gomez and Klose are down. Is now the time to finally call in Keissling? Or can Kruse handle it? Don't forget that Mueller, Podolski, and Ozil all like to score. Sweden will be a challenge regardless.
  7. The Expos were dead after 1994. They were a victim of the strike. But they were also a victim of a French-Canadian culture that struggled to embrace baseball. Don't see how that's true at all. Montreal embraced the Expos whole-heartedly in the 80's and the biggest problems were with Stade Olympique and managment/MLB repeatedly cutting the knees out from under the team. They were the winningest team in their division just before the strike and could've turned things around.
  8. Yeah, its pretty clear that Heartwork is their personal favorite album as they seemed the happiest playing songs off it. That, and all their setlist are always stacked with tunes off it. I dig Heartwork quite a bit so that's okay with me.
  9. Not trying to diminish what Mo accomplished but all this Yanks canonization stuff makes a lowly Mets fan like myself sick.
  10. That's the problem, it rips off Hellboy (and The Rocketeer to some extent) but offers little more than some quips and okay art as compensation. Not original enough for me, I guess. Fun though but nothing memorable.
  11. Been reading a boatload of 80's Marvel: West Coast Avengers is sadly mediocre through the majority of its run despite having many great characters on the roster or hanging about at various points (Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Moon Knight, US Agent, Hellcat, The Shroud, The Thing) but its oafs like Wonder Man and bizarre plot lines involving Tigra and cat-demons and Byrne's obliteration of Vision & The Scarlet Witch that derails even the most decent story aspects. Wasn't worth the slog to read. The Incredible Hulk is dope for most of Peter David's early run, especially the "Ground Zero" storyline with early Todd McFarlane on art. His grotesque style suits the title immensely and David really sets up the Doc Banner is schizo storyline perfectly. Once Dale Keown joins and they execute the war between his personalities, the title is flying. The Joe Fix-It interlude doesn't really go anywhere though and once Banner's personalities are fused into the Professor version of the character, I started to lose interest because a super-smart, insane strong character is often kinda dull. Wolverine is worth browsing just for John Buscema's gritty and intense art. Chris Claremont's story is a mixed bag and once they leave the title, it flounders a bit. Wolverine is one of those weird A-list characters who doesn't have a truly iconic storyline other than the initial Claremont/Miller mini (unless that's happened more recently because I haven't read any Wolvie past the mid-90's). Is Rucka's run any good?
  12. For anyone curious, here was Carcass's setlist: Buried Dreams Incarnated Solvent Abuse Carnal Forge No Love Lost Unfit for Human Consumption Edge of Darkness / This Mortal Coil Reek of Putrefaction Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System Genital Grinder / Pyosisified / Exhume to Consume Captive Bolt Pistol Corporal Jigsore Quandary / Forensic Clinicism - The Sanguine Article Ruptured in Purulence / Heartwork Carneous Cacoffiny Lavaging Expectorate of Lysergide Composition Keep on Rotting in the Free World
  13. I still can't seem to get into Saga. It just seems so obnoxious and dumb but I'm willing to keep trying because something so beloved can't be bad, right? Then again, I can't seem to dig into Hawkeye, Manhattan Project, or Atomic Robo so maybe I just have bad taste. To me Fatale, Lazarus, Baltimore, Hellboy In Hell, and Cobra Files are the best non-big two comics currently on the stands.
  14. Jason X -- a bunch of people spontaneously yelled out, "you gonna die" before each kill. It was hilarious! Someone fainted from fright at my screening of 28 Days Later. When Gordon turns over the Joker card at the end of Batman Begins, the whole place went ballistic.
  15. I can't say I agree totally. The new songs smoked live but on record they just don't hook me as hard as anything off Heartwork or Necroticism. In some ways it just sounds like a blatant crowd-pleaser (and it did please the crowd last night) but where's the growth and challenge? It's the only Carcass record that doesn't offer anything particularly new or vital, instead just cobbling together the bits and pieces of their legacy that people liked best and smothering it in a too-crisp modern production. A good record, yes but not the masterpiece everyone is claiming. Comeback of the year still easily belongs to Gorguts.
  16. Man, I'm killin' it this time with the high votes.
  17. Thank god too. I like Frank Darabont and all but this movie is pretty putrid.
  18. Going to see Carcass & Immolation tomorrow. Couldn't be more stoked (despite my not loving either band's latest album). Hoping they each play the following: http://youtu.be/rgBkPEf37ck
  19. There was talk of that and I think a study is being done to bring baseball back to Montreal (including some Mets/Blue Jays spring training games there next spring) but am not sure what other cities might be under consideration. Don't know how firm this is though... That would be awesome, as I would immediately ditch the Jays to return to my true love, the Expos. But surely this can't be a possibility without a new stadium? There's no way they can play in the Big Owe and survive. Are there any talks in Montreal about building a new park? That said, bring them back. Bring them all back. I have a deep and abiding love for the Expos too. Part of the feasibility study in Montreal is to ascertain whether or not a small-to-mid size new park is an option.

  21. Whoo-Hoo, Dreamlife Of Angels made it too?!? Damn, who joined me in that one? Also, I am an idiot for not voting for Hearts Of Darkness.
  22. Yay! The Imposters! Didn't think it would make it this time since it didn't place last time. Thank you whomever else it was that voted for it!
  23. I can't believe I didn't vote for a movie I'm actually in (as an extra). Oh well... it's a decent movie but not the greatest shakes or anything.
