I thought both this year’s and last year’s could have stood to have been ten minutes shorter. There’s no reason for a Wargames/B&G match to go 51 minutes.

We need CMFTR in a Blood and Guts match. And not vs The Elite.

  2. This show rocked.

I don't think it really needed an angle at the end or a hook for next week's show. This felt, to me, like an "educating the fanbase" introductory show. There was a lot more breathing room in every match on Collision that isn't there in a lot of matches on Dynamite/Rampage. I think it was pretty telling that Andrade vs Matthews wasn't anywhere near as balls to the wall as those two are capable of. That main event was AWESOME. For a match with no build, that thing had heat. Yes, it's in Chicago, and yes, CM Punk was in it, and yes, Samoa Joe and CM Punk haven't locked up in almost twenty years, but the work cranked all those factors up and milked them for all they were worth. I think the women's tag wasn't really much different than what they would have done on Dynamite, but if anyone looks better wrestling at a slower pace in the women's division, it's Ruby. Toni and Willow can definitely hang with that, and I think Skye Blue has a lot to gain working in this kind of environment.

As an aside, Joe threw that first chop like he'd been waiting 20 years to throw it. GodDAMN, that was awesome.

    Looking forward to next week.

  3. Well, I was expecting and hoping for a total slugfest in Game 1.

Nikola Jokic, however, was completely unfazed tonight. He pretty much auto piloted his way to a triple double.

Kinda seems they let Bam get his and shut the rest of the Heat down. That said, Miami got a lot of really good looks and couldn't throw the ball in the ocean.
That's not gonna be the case for the rest of the series.

Hoping for a more competitive game 2, but three wins left for the Nuggets!

40-10-9 but not enough when Jokic is putting up 30-14-13 with 3 blocks and a steal while getting good support from his teammates.

That takeover in the 2nd half started with his rebounding. There was one that was about as artistic as his passing. Then there was that stepback three off one foot.

  5. If Ime Udoka was still coaching Boston, this series is probably 2-1 in favor of Miami and the Celtics don't get blown off the planet tonight.

Jimmy has found the team he's always been looking for and Coach Spo is one of the best.

  6. Goddamn, I love Jimmy Butler.

Reporter: We'll see you in Miami, Jimmy.

    Jimmy: Oh yeaaaahhhhhh

Him grinning when Grant Williams started talking trash was glorious, too.

It's lookin' like a Nuggets/Heat Finals and everyone deserves it. So stoked.

Jesus, if Jokic can put up quarters like this against the "best playoff defense", I don't think anyone can stop these guys.

19 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists at the half and the Nuggets are up 18.

This is definitely taking the edge off the Pistons getting the fifth pick.

    Thank you, Nikola.

  8. If Jokic gets suspended for game 5, that's probably a wrap for them. Sucks.

If not, they've still got their work cut out for them. Booker and KD are playing out of their damn minds right now, and all it takes is one Landry Shamet.

  9. NJPW:

    Scott Norton vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
    Liger vs Hijo Del Vikingo
    Fujiwara vs Danielson
    Choshu/Saito vs Moxley/Kingston
    Great Muta vs Malakai Black
    Vader vs Punk
    Darby vs El Samurai
    Ohtani vs Daniel Garcia

    Other companies:

    Jamie Hayter vs Bull Nakano
    Kobashi/Kikuchi vs FTR
    Misawa vs Omega
    Claudio vs Shinzaki

  10. Jeeeeez o pete's, this crowd is so AWESOME. Goddamn.

Just finished Iyo/Bianca. I figured it'd be a ripper and I was correct. It was so, so cool to see Iyo get that kind of reaction. Hopefully, bigger things are in store for her. (GIVE US THE DAMN IYO/ASUKA MATCH, DAMMIT.)

  11. Here and there on various other forms of internet, I type in all caps LIKE THIS for emphasis and I totally copped that from Dean.

I can't remember if it was in an issue of DVDVR or what, but he once wrote something to the effect of "What you do to pay the bills is a hustle. What you do outside of that is your life." It is hard to remember that at times, but it's something that I've carried with me ever since I read it.

Getting a like on a post from Dean always made me feel good. Like pretty much everyone here, this place has had a massive impact on my love of pro wrestling, and just knowing that one of the founders thought that something I wrote was right on was pretty damn cool.

Rest in power, Dean. Hi five Jay for us.
