  1. That main event was exactly what it should've been: Fun, with the right man going over. It was the complete exact opposite of Summerslam and it wasn't a slog like some of Roman's main events can be. Yeah, there was a shit ton of booking in it, but the work itself between Cody and Roman was fantastic.

Iyo and Bayley had the best match I've seen so far this weekend. Bayley fucking rules, man. That's gotta be a top-five match for her and it was definitely Iyo's best match on U.S. soil. She was great in this match, too, and I hope this isn't the first and last big title run for her.

Lastly, Bull Nakano looked every bit the goddamn queen that she is, but of course, production missed most of her nunchuk work. Her speech at the Hall of Fame was fantastic, though. So glad she got in.

  2. Step 1: Sell the team.
Step 2: Fire Arn Tellem, Troy Weaver and their sons.
Step 3: Send Monty packing. Tell him to take it up with the spraytanned dipshit billionaire.
Step 4: Send Isiah Livers to the G League. He is not an NBA player. (I don't think his free throws at the end would've made much of a difference. But...c'mon.)
Step 5: Keep Cade, Ivey, Duren and Ausar.

This organization is a fucking mess. That Dwayne Casey got more out of less speaks volumes. Until Gores, Tellem, Monty and Weaver are sent packing, this team is going nowhere.

Eddie Kingston's story arch has been perfectly done, him going 5-0 would undermine his everyman-ness (like Tommy Dreamer, Dusty or Foley) but him having to scrap and claw his way back into it was great

I love that he absolutely SMOKED Andrade with the Backfist/Northern Lights Bomb combo and that was IT.

This tournament has been so, so awesome. I'm having a hard time listing my favorite matches, and that should probably wait until the tourney is done. Pretty sure Danielson/Garcia is in the top spot, but then, Kingston/Garcia was a ripper, too.

Detroit getting taken behind the woodshed again tonight.  Will tie them for 5th longest losing streak all-time.  Crazy the two closest calls they had the whole time were Milwaukee and Denver.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY TENTH, HISTORY WILL BE ON THE LINE!

Spurs at Pistons.  Someone's gotta win, right?

Pains me to say it, but I'm gonna go with the Spurs. Wemby being the deciding factor.

The Pistons are a goddamn mess, and frankly, the roster is the least of their problems.

  5. I'm caught up through Mox vs Rush. Solid match, but I'm gonna lay out a complaint here: I'm tired of strike and chop battles and there's been a ton of them in this tournament so far. Besides that, I dug the finish of this match a lot and I love how Rush seemed to be even cockier than usual.

Looking forward to Mox vs Swerve/White. Mox is the measuring stick in AEW, so it's going to be interesting to see how those matches play out.

I can't even tell what they're doing with the scheduling in the Blue block. Danielson missed the first week and is doing 2 matches this week, and Brody apparently isn't wrestling this week. That one's going to be a bit tougher to figure out.

Yeah, Blue block is a total tossup. I'm really looking forward to Brody vs Danielson, and I have a feeling that Andrade vs Eddie is gonna be a banger.

I've had friends that saw the show recently say that he sounded pretty good, so good luck to those going. I see he's doing both Danzig and Samhain at Phil Anselmo's music errr horror film festival

GAHHHHHD DAMMIT, I really don't want to have to go this. I fucking love Samhain and who knows when or if he'll do a show again.

  7. I was a bit checked out over the weekend, but I managed to catch up on Collision over Monday and Tuesday.

Eddie vs King was quite good, and I'm gonna rewatch it having read Matt D's write up of it. I had a feeling Brody was gonna go over and it feels like the right call. Got a feeling the meet again in the group finals. We'll see.

    Garcia vs Claudio was solid.

Very, very excited for Switch vs Swerve tonight and Eddie vs Bryan this weekend.

The Pistons really don't appear to be trying to tank. They really really want to win this year. But injuries have wrecked them and they just cannot win a close game to save their lives.

They are finally starting to get guys back. If they don't turn things around and at least play halfway competitive ball soon, I think something drastic is gonna happen.

Agreed, though I don't know what.

As it stands, this team is built for a different era, it seems. With Bogey gone, they have exactly one player that the league respects and that's Cade. He's not the most efficient shooter, but he's the best one we have. Alec Burks seems to be a lot more streaky this season. Jaden Ivey can get there, I think.

I know the philosophy going into the rebuild was to get back to that classic Pistons defense-first mentality, but the game is soooo different now. Defend all you want; if you can't shoot, you're going to get run out of the gym.

All that said, Ausar Thompson is a goddamn marvel.

Drooling for Brody vs anyone in his block.

Five bucks says Danielson wanted to be in the same block as Brody, utter masochist that he is.

Also want to say that a round robin tournament like this is pretty much the only way we would ever get Jay White vs. Swerve in their current personas. A heel vs. heel match is rare, a matchup of arguably the two top heels in the company is extremely rare.

Didn't even think of that, either. Thank you, sir.
