  1. Read the first collection of "We Only Find Them When They're Dead", by Al Ewing, and I found it quite interesting. A lot of the reviews were complaining about how slow it went, and they didn't understand what was going on until the info dump in issue 5, but I personally found it real easy to figure out what had happened, for the most part. The art is very stylized, which works here. Will definitely read the rest of the series.
  2. And here we are in the days of the Last False Summer, before the temps fall off a cliff into the realms of True Autumn
  3. Buck Tick singer Atushi Sakurai died earlier this month from a massive brain hemorrhage He was 57. Most of us would know the band from anime like Trinity Blood, xxxHolic, etc.
  4. I'm trying to read JRR Tolkien's translation of Beowulf, and oh my god this is awful. Why did they make some of y'all read this in high school?
  5. Hiddleston and Hamill on the screen at the same time? Holy shit sign me up, and I usually hate Stephen King adaptations.
  6. He should lose his appeal and get more games slapped on for being such an asshole
  7. There are going to be 2039482 Zidane (FF9) cosplaying characters within five minutes of 7.0 opening.
  8. I remember reading a few of the 2099's (Spiderman, X-men) and while Spidey was good, the XMen one was a complete mess. It felt like a limited series that got stretched way too thin.
  9. That reminds me of when I had my major surgery back in 1998. Opened up from breast bone to pubic bone, basically. Stapled back together. Several days later they started to remove the staples and we're watching the incision spread more and more open. Nurse and I looked at each other. "I'll just take every other one out for now, we'll come back in a few days."
  10. A well-written hellscape with a couple too many deus ex machines at the end. And I already know that they're not in the pit any more, so I guess I'll need to track down how they got out of it.
  11. Read Legion of X vol 2 and really didn't get the ending (what in the world happened to David?!?!?), and complained in my review that I didn't have access to the Sins of Sinister event which might have helped it make sense. Yesterday, my library got the Sins of Sinister collection! So I'm reading that now. If I finish it before the Legion one goes back, I may re-read the last couple issues.
  12. https://www.pcgamesinsider.biz/job-news/74054/unionised-keywords-bioware-workers-have-been-laid-off/ So BioWare decided it didn't need it's other foot and shot it off
  13. Thumb firmly in the middle. This is definitely a Filoni Production (TM), with story beats dropped and picked up randomly. Ray Stevenson's death makes this habit of Filoni's all the more irritating, since we either recast the role or drop it entirely. Not sure which would be worse, IMO.
  14. According to folks, the last episode is 42 minutes. So, dangling threads.
  15. Loki has the problem that Jonathan Majors is in it. I completely forgot that starts this week, but I'll be watching it since the first season was so good.
  16. Terrible movie, but probably the best soundtrack of the spin-offs.
  17. Someone on Mastodon said it best, this felt like episode 7 of 10, not 7 of 8. Either the last episode is going to be a movie in and of itself, or they leave a fuckton of dangling threads.
  18. For the writer's, maybe. SAG still is on strike.
  19. If you're an old school fan, the first several seconds should give you a nice nostalgia boost
