  1. I haven't been on here in a really long time, but the news got me thinking about this board again. I didn't have a lot of interactions with DEAN, but I always loved reading his reviews because of his writing style. Reading some of those reviews again after I got the news brought back so many memories of my formative years as a teenage wrestling fan and being exposed to those reviews and to things like 80s and 90s New Japan and All Japan, and BattlARTS and countless other promotions and matches I would have likely not seen otherwise. His writing style and reviews influenced not only me, but others whose reviews and websites also had a profound influence on me. There won't be anyone like him ever again, he had such a wide, sweeping impact on wrestling and by all accounts he was a great fucking dude. Rest well.

ROH sure loves to have TNA tendencies

They booked Dalton Castle vs. Cody Rhodes on their Feb PPV

So on their last big show before the April show - they have their #1 contender facing a guy who doesn't job (unless it is the most screwy version ever)

Cody/Castle is happening at a house show in Columbus. The next PPV in the anniversary show in March.

So regarding the Suzuki-gun guys, I wonder if their contracts were transferred over to NOAH at some point, because they were working there exclusively for so long or if they remained contracted to NJPW the entire time. The feud was played out anyways, but without them their roster seems so thin.

If Bushi Road is completely out, I hope they at least open the doors to partnerships with other promotions like AJPW and Wrestle-1. That at least could lead to some good wrestling down the road.

Suzukigun, minus the guys like Iizuka and Desperado, are freelancers.

So can someone recommend me any All Japan matches from the 70's, in particular Jumbo or Baba? But any one will do actually. I've only seen Baba in his late days when he's putting guys over- no disrespect towards him, but I'm pretty sure he didn't earn his legendary status from those days.

Jumbo vs. Billy Robinson 3/5/77 is an absolute must see.

I'm long past the point of believing that Tenzan will ever get a sustained top-level push. But, I'm hoping for at least a good showing in the G-1. I'd mark out like a mofo if he actually won the thing, and Tenzan/Okada is a fresh match, and could be a lot of fun. I went nuts in the 2012 G-1 when he *FINALLY* got a win over Nakamura.

You know...I never thought about it until now but other than the 2004 G1 and the 2012 G1, I can't remember many (if any) other Tenzan wins against Nakamura

  8. Will Wrestle Kingdom be on this considering it's bound to be on PPV (it is in America with Global Force - I dunno if NJPW has Japanese PPV, pardon my ignorance)?

Will all the NJPW typical iPPV events be on this?

    mv05.jpg

  9. So, what are the chances that new Live events are left in their entireity after they air?  Like, I'm not gonna get to watch WK live, so when I go back monday to watch it, is it gonna be complete or split up into the matches?

(Its WK, I'm expecting a huge Okada entrance and don't want to miss it.)

They'll probably get rid of the VTRs but the entrances should remain in tact. I just checked and they left his entrance in for the G1 Final at least.

  10. Seems like this might be a dub of WPW Returns, where they air highlights of a show and then one match in full at the end of the show. If it's not that and we get a 2 hour sow with full matches, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

  11. YES to:

Yujiro/Ishii 10/13 (wasn't feeling the first 2/3 but the last 1/3 was killer)

AJ/Tanahashi 10/13 (Not much better than the G1 match IMO but a suitably big main for the Sumo Hall)

Ishii/Goto 11/8 (The slugfest to end all slugfests)

    NO to

Nakamura/Shibata 11/8 (and it pains me to ever say that about these two in a match)

I'm gonna watch Naito/Okada again because I don't want to down vote something I wasn't really paying close attention to when I first saw it.

  12.

Flair also claims to have flushed the pills down the toilet after David Von Erich's death.

Flair has also claimed to have assassinated Archduke Ferdinand, sank the Titanic, caused the stock market crash, slept with Marilyn Monroe, hit 61 home runs in 1961, ran for President in 1972, scored the winning goal for the 1980 US men's hockey team, and killed Osama Bin Laden.

Are you trying to tell me he fucking didn't?

  13. ROH needs to start shooting in HD.  I don't know about you guys but my local affiliate stretches it instead of just putting bars on the side of the screen.  So Jay Lethal looks thick as fuck, like 2/3 Rusev.  And the Blodbound Warriors look like The Hulk.

They've been shooting in HD for a while now. The affiliates in my area don't stretch the show, everything looks pretty much like it should on the HD channel.

  14. You know the PWI list isn't super legit cos Davey should totally be #1

If it was a shoot he'd definitely be top 3

The whole "lol Davey Richards" thing was fun like five years ago. The indie jerk off guy now is Elgin, get with the times.

  15.

I know he said in an interview he was gonna tryout for MLB recently, but that couldn't have gotten him any serious heat.

It did I knew about the title change on Thursday. "Elgin is Elgin" but the baseball thing changed the perception of him internally from this child like man to "he's a fucking headcase"

Very enjoyable show the feed was absolutely excellent.

Want to elaborate further on the perception of Elgin?

  16. I thought the show was great. Elgin losing got a huge pop from me because he's become so bland and generic ever since going to PWG that I really can't stomach him very well anymore. I've heard he's unhappy with the company (can't imagine why) and that his deal is up at the end of the year.

  17. Most of your "no"s were borderline ones for me, so I take no umbrage at them. But I would ask you revisit Nakamura/Ishii (and maybe Nakamura/Okada and Okada/Suzuki).

Revisited all three matches before I voted no on them. Nakamura/Okada was complete no for me. Great last five minutes, rest of the match was nothing. Okada/Suzuki was good but the no was a slight one. Nakamura/Ishii was really good too but IMO it wasn't close to the best match on the second half of that show (Shibata/Nagata is my pick for that btw).
