I was watching this match by myself while drinking a few and that part had me jacked up for the rest of the match. Pretty great match, if I remember right.

John House wasn't a standout? Only partially kidding. I always had fun with him and Gargiulo. As for GCW, I've watched some shows where Nick Gage has been on commentary and that has been entertaining. Not a set team so it doesn't apply but still a load of fun. Especially at the backyard wrestling show.

I think one of the more uncomfortable bits on his show is when he slips into his Barnett voice and this last show was a really weird one that even made Conrad uncomfortable it seemed like.

For those of us who will be up late, Joey Janella is doing a live stream of random matches on Twitch. Right now he's streaming M-Pro's Great Space War from, I think, this year.

If you're curious about how JR is doing with quarantine, this week's episode of his podcast shows that he is not taking it well. He's even angrier than usual and just keeps going off on tangents about the virus and social distancing. Conrad tries to steer him but it's near impossible at moments.

So I have only ever watched the original Godzilla and then the one that came out a few years ago in the US. Do I need to watch the older films in any specific order? Is there a lot of continuity between the films? Also, is this a series that the dubs are worse than the subtitles or can I kind of roll with whatever I find? I'm not able to purchase any physical media and I don't have a blu-ray player so I'm limited to what is available on the net so my options might be limited on the sub vs dub front is the only reason I ask.

Watching the Network special about essential WrestleMania matches and I'm at Taker/HBK from Mania 26. The King actually is having a great night on the mic. Of course, Cole and Striker are not and the three man booth turns into Cole shouting "Vintage" while Striker bumbles around trying to get a word in. It got me thinking though: what are some of the King's best calls? Anything strike anyone off the top of their head?

My buddy whose apartment we were watching it at lived above a cheesesteak place. I went to go grab our food because I "know how it's going to end." The bar on the corner was showing it as well and I heard people flipping out so I kinda rushed to the patio to see the ending. It was surreal to see. Walked into the cheesesteak place and the kitchen guys were watching it there too. Probably the last moment like that I can remember with casual fans being involved in the moment as it happened in addition to hardcores, as opposed to bringing it up a day or so later.

Oh wow. I had pushed that out of my head haha. My family was watching this "replay" with me and my sister LOVED this part.

I watched two things from the Network today: the Austin/Bret interview and the FCW doc. I was honestly kind of disappointed in the Broken Skull Sessions. Bret really just came off bitter and wasn't very engaging. I know he has a lot to be bitter about but it didn't make for a very compelling watch, in my eyes. Austin always seems like he is having fun with these though and his attitude helped make things watchable at least. The FCW doc was really fun to watch though. I never really saw much of the television but I'm going to change that ASAP. Rollins was his usual unlikable self and my biggest takeaway is this: Why the hell isn't Heath Slater being used more and in a better position? Dude is so likable. Tons of charisma. Easily one of the best parts of the doc. I also really loved the promo class portions. I'd love a drop of just those type of segments, to be honest.

In 2002 I wasn't really "online" in terms of message boards or newsletters so I'm wondering, for those who were here and in other places, what was the reaction to Hogan vs Brock from Smackdown before Summerslam? I was watching the Ruthless Agression episode on Brock and the clips they show made the match look pretty one-sided. I figured there was no way Hogan let Brock dominate him in such a complete fashion so I looked it up. Cagematch had it listed as Brock's longest tv singles match to that point and that seemed to confirm my suspicion. I went to watch it and was kind of surprised. There were moments Hulk got the better of Brock but they almost always were after Brock got cocky and Hogan taking advantage as the veteran. So yeah, not exactly like what I anticipated. However, I know how the, for lack of a better term, IWC feels/felt about Hogan so I can see some people saying something about him using his power to make sure he didn't get totally squashed by Brock. Was that a common opinion at the time? Did some people feel that he should have pinned Hogan? I thought crushing him in a bear hug with "internal bleeding" was actually a more effective finish but, again, I can see some people feeling that it should have ended in a pinfall.

Butcher's Block was probably my favorite (so far. I still haven't finished Dream Door) but No-End House really messed with both my head and my sister's due to complete opposite experiences with our father. Her relationship with him was very similar to the main character's and she almost couldn't finish the series. Mine was 100% different and I never really got to spend time with him or get to know him so I lived vicariously through her relationship with him and that distance had an impact on how I viewed the father character. You're right about the melding of macro horror to micro personal drama in the series. Each season has some impact that a lot of horror just doesn't have (and I say this as a giant fan of horror as a genre) and that's a major part of the appeal and goes a long way in ratcheting up the tension. I'm having some flashbacks to a past relationship with Dream Door right now and that combined with my mindset due to the current world situation/general anxiety and depression are slowing me down even though the show is pretty damn awesome. Contortionists have always made me uncomfortable so Pretzel Jack is unnerving as well. That is a bummer indeed. Hopefully lots of people stream it during this time and Shudder gets some kind of groundswell of responses asking for them to bring it back. Speaking of Shudder, I think I'll be digging into their Creepshow series next.

This grindcore doc just got posted to Youtube by the creator. I just started it so no comment on how it is but the opening bit of Repulsion footage is cool to see.

Fuck. That was...yeah. I don't cry often but the part about Eddie really broke me. Hearing Vickie talk about the overdoses was rough. I've put my family members in that position and they've never told me those things but I am sure some of them have thought that it might have been better to just not call 911 so hearing her put that into words really shook me. I'm not sure if I will watch the rest Tuesday (or Wednesday most likely) or wait a bit. I don't know if this period of time will be the best for something that brings me down like this will. Especially since there isn't much there to make a happy ending out of.

I've got a lot of free time from work so I decided to dive into the Shudder account my sister shares with me and finally am watching the last season of Channel Zero. I can't remember if I saw many people talking about the series on here but I really dug the first three seasons quite a bit. Hoping this last one compares reasonably well. I'm bummed that there seems to be no movement on further seasons of the show though.

Right. Or you're someone who lives paycheck to paycheck and has just had your job shut down and unemployment benefits won't roll in for a month or possibly more. That came off really angry. I kind of am. Scared as fuck too.

Watching stuff that's been suggested around the web and the main from the 2/21 episode is up: Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs. The Brian Kendrick & Ariya Daivari. Holy hell, this was fun. Basically, this was a modern version of the Attitude-era MAIN EVENT BRAWL™. It's a shame it was in front of a crowd that really couldn't be bothered to care, at least at first. As the match went on, they drew a portion of the crowd in and we finally get a "THIS IS AWESOME" chant from them. In a just world, this would have lit the entire arena up as it was full of good action. Commentary had an amazing bit of back and forth too: Not-Aiden English: Speaking of breaking things, is there any truth to the rumor that Oney Lorcan destroyed the park bench he slept under last night? Aiden English: Yeah, he was mad. He wanted to wear his blue jeans to this match but they got stolen out of the Costco bag he uses to carry his gear in. I literally woke my roommate up laughing after that. Then clear as day after a DVD through a table you can hear a small child yell "Come on guys, get up!" PRO WRESTLING IS GREAT! Kendrick goads Lorcan with "I'm the last damn cowboy, buckaroo!" and gets some stiff ass chops and a great European uppercut to drive him outside in response. Eventually he gets a Blockbuster while seated in a chair that looks awesome. Lorcan does a crazy dive over the top and pops up right away. He's such a nut. My only real complaint is the use of duct tape, something I'm just not a fan of in matches. Two implant DDTs finish it, with the first looking crazy stiff on the announcer's table and the second in the ring to cap off a hate-filled brawl. The other main roster guys could really stand to watch this and figure out how a blood feud (without blood in this era) should be settled. Match went nearly 15 minutes and never felt long. Aiden English sums up my feelings nicely at the end with "This was exactly what I wanted to see and what I expected to see." Go out of your way to watch this match.

The first episode of the Ruthless Aggression doc was kind of "eh" but I'm liking the second one, if only because I was a giant Cena fan at the time, to the point where my AIM screen name was something about Thuganomics. Hopefully the next few episodes are as fun. As with all WWE docs, I take everything with a grain of salt but they are produced well and fun to watch. Love seeing the OVW footage, especially Orton doing that dropkick into a backflip.

I legit did not know this (my brain is filled with too many pop culture tidbits to know real world stuff, sadly) and it kind of blew my mind.

Re-reading this is just....yeah. I'm glad the board was nuked, and a lot of other posters should be as well. I know we were all younger then and it was "a different time" but it's still not fun to look back at. I'm glad we, as a board and as people, have changed. For all the little stuff that happens on here, I like the little family/friend circle we have going here. To steer back to wrestling, I'm watching the Ruthless Aggression doc on the Network. In one of the Halloween party segments Cena says he's like light beer cuz he tastes great and is "less filling." What an odd boast, assuming he means it to be a sexual one (and since it's said to Stephanie, I feel like it has to be.)

Both of these are true for me. I LOVED the "WWF The Music" cds. I would blast them while playing basketball in my driveway. Honestly, I sometimes throw them on while I'm working now, just to psyche myself up and get through dinner rushes. I was around that age myself when I also thought RVD/Lynn was amazing. I remember the ECW on TNN episodes that showed one of their matches vividly. I taped them and would watch them over and over. I got the six disc set that RF produced of their feud and yeah, it does not hold up that well.

Drop the avocado and that wrap sounds like a winner. Once I get my car fixed, I'm headed to NYC to see my sister and might have to make time to explore this wrap. Should I swing by and pick you up?

I saw Grand Buffet many times. They seemed to hit Bowling Green/Toledo a lot, often with GMPD. I own "Once Triangular," "Bloodsongs" and have quite a few live dvds that I shot at Howard's in BG. I bought "Best Friends" once and lost it. It wasn't so great so not a big loss but still burns. I honestly really like their last album, "Dreamscape" a lot and hoped it would draw new fans. I push "Bloodsongs" on every one I meet who likes synth pop.
