  1. That's where I'm thinking this goes. What I would like to see happen: Kenny beats Swann, maybe with a bit of a fuck finish involving the Good Brothers. I mean, Kenny will win but do enough to not make Swann look like shit for losing while also making it clear that Kenny didn't need the interference to win; it was just done in service of being a dick. This could spin off GB vs Swann and Mack (is Mack still around? If so, are he and Swann teaming? If so, have him save Swann from a beatdown. If they were feuding, this could be his return/face turn). Moose declares that he is going to save TNA/Impact's honor. Have him chase Kenny. Moose is big enough that Kenny could play chickenshit heel and not sacrifice his aura. I'm sure the eventual title switch will have some kind of fuck finish but I hope it ends with Moose convincingly beating Omega. It's a simple storyline that writes itself. As long as noone gets too cute or wants to outsmart the fans, Impact has themselves a very solid few months of story set up. Enough fantasy booking. This was a solid show with some really good wrestling. It also had some piss-poor announcing. I hate Matt Striker's commentary. I wish I could organize a letter writing campaign to get him removed and replaced with almost anyone. If Hell exists, my own personal version is living with a constant running commentary track featuring Stiker and Mauro. D-Lo isn't bad but he's not good enough to save it. Positivity. Moose/Swann was really good. I love that both guys entered the arena in serious mode. This felt like it had stakes because neither man came down smiling or dancing. Swann's bump off a backdrop early on was awesome. Moose's fall-away slam variation of a Spanish Fly was really impressive. TJP/Ace Austin was fun. I really dig Ace Austin and am hoping he gets some AEW screentime if there is ever any crossover between the two companies beyond the Good Brothers and Omega. Purazzo looked great. Something I noticed about the Knockouts is that across that roster there are many body types. It's refreshing compared to WWE where most of the women are super thin, outside of a few. AEW's women's roster, outside of two or three exceptions, is the same way. Impact has some skinny women and multiple thicc girls. I appreciate it, both on an "It's cool to see that they value talent and representation over wanting skinny, tradtionally good looking women" level and on a "Calm down, Razornetico" level. I will admit, I skipped chunks of the show. Eddie Edwards, at this point where he's turned into a walking ECW tribute, doesn't do anything for me.
  2. So, I have a potentially dumb question but please bear with me. I see a few NES games that never got releases here eventually did in the Virtual Console store for both the WII and WII-U. If I purchased one of these systems, does the VC work on either of them anymore? I'd assume it's more likely on the WII-U than the WII. Also, if one or both is still functional, are there rumblings of them being shut down? Is there a VC on the Switch? Thanks guys!
  3. Urban Wrestling Federation tried it but it wasn't good. FilmRise owns the rights thanks to Steve Karrel of ECW and the shows are constantly on the ppv channels and also Youtube. They also ran the sleazy women's ppvs that got heat with a few of the bigger females in the indie scene last year (or 2019, can't remember which) like LuFisto. Uncle Murda was involved as was Gunplay. It came off more like a white guy writing a hip-hop show. I would like to see this though. The Griselda guys are also big wrestling fans and they are more traditional rap than the Detroit/Flint scene is (as a lot of the MI guys don't rap on beat or in the traditional pockets you'd associate with hip-hop.) It might come off as those old rap crew movies used to though.
  4. It comes down to how streams count for sales. If you're an act that can still sell cds (ie: a legacy act or Adele/Taylor Swift) it's not hard to combine any amount of disc sales with high streams. Plus, the AC/DC album is your basic AC/DC album which means it rocks and gives you exactly what you expect. The MGK album sounds like a 2000s mainstream pop-punk album (more blink 182 style than a Queers pop-punk style) which is super popular with both people in the 28-33 age range for nostalgia and with teens as a nostalgia for something we never experienced type deal.
  5. MLW had a fun L.A. Park/Sabu feud. I can't speak to how well it holds up but those two were just being nuts and beating the shit out of each other plus Fonzie was being his usual Fonzie-self.
  6. I am skipping a few pages to make this post because I haven't read the thread in a week or so but I will share my anecdotal evidence of Bad Bunny's popularity: I am 33. Like a lot of us on here, I feel out of touch sometimes. I do try to keep up on music. I'm also a kitchen worker. There are some oldtimers in the biz but there's also always an influx of kids (I say kid to mean anyone from like 16-25). Also, a lot of minorities in my area. Bad Bunny plays in many kitchens and servers loveit. The Puerto Rican cooks love it (partially because he gets the girls to dance.) He's a star. The girls asked if he's a wrestler now. If WWE really wanted to get current and find stars who want to be there, the Detroit and Bay Area rap scenes would be good places to start. Sada Baby raps about his bricks being big and white like Brock. He wears SCSA shirts. YN Jay, the Coochie Man, just put a song out called "Monday Night Raw" and he's super popular on YouTube with younger kids. Lil Yachty is an Atlanta guy but has latched onto the Detroit guys. Atlanta guys always namedrop wrestlers (Migos' "Ric Flair Drip"). It's easy. They just are so out of touch. EDIT: To be fair (even though no one associated with the scene will ever read this) I should be saying "Detroit/Flint rappers" as many of these dudes are not from The D. I also should mention that this fantasy is inspired by a selfish desire to see the anarchy that could be Sada and BFB Da Packman (A Flint-to-Houston mailman turned rapper) on national television. And also to somehow see ShittyBoyz Baby Tron get more hype. Obviously, none of this would ever happen. These guys are punchline rappers who clearly are trying to make each other laugh as their first goal, which means a lot of things they say are DEPLORABLE and would cause TV execs to promptly keel over. Not to mention the violence that follows a lot of the current rap scene (I know rap and violence always have gone hand-in-hand but to me it seems worse now than ever), owing to a lot of these dudes continuing to live the street life even as they are blowing up.
  7. I haven't watched yet (early shifts keeping me from live viewing) but listening to POST Wrestling's review had me smiling at work anticipating the reactions on here, especially from @Curt McGirt
  8. I want to see Jericho vs Yano as well. Also, The Good Brothers on BTE are a major turn off. That style of humor is just...ugh. I really don't care for that shit and if it starts to make its way onto Dynamite, I will be skipping those segments as well.
  9. That spinning backfist Kobashi hits is pretty brutal looking. Also, I never realized Johnny Ace was as tall as he seems in that gif.
  10. It took me a minute to realize who you were talking about and during that time I was thinking how a WWC-influenced show might be kind of fun. As it is, I never really thought about Chavo's career and I guess I always just assumed he started in AAA or CMLL. Cagematch only has one match prior to WCW listed. Does anyone know much about his early stuff? Wikipedia says he did shows in Mexico from 94-96.
  11. I am SHOCKED to read that the lumberjacks fight amongst themselves! To be honest, this sounds like a fun episode. I don't really watch week to week anymore but will probably tune in to this as I'll be off work. I will have to see the cage match ending for myself but just reading it, I'm not sure if I like it for the type of character Roman has been. A badass, asskicking heel shouldn't need to resort to that and (at least from the recaps I have been following) he doesn't seem like a chickenshit heel. Am I right in that assumption? Or is his character sometimes resorting to that type of thing?
  12. Scrolling and not expecting that just caused a cackle that terrified my cats. Thanks, @The Natural for sharing.
  13. This is very much my shit. Indiana Jones style relic hunting meets horror? The push I need to get HBO Max (that and watching the Perry Mason reboot with my dad) has arrived.
  14. After years of hearing good things, I finally took advantage of my local used movie store's Black Friday sale and got the complete Homicide: Life on the Streets series. I know it's based on a book by David Simon. I have The Wire to watch next and then plan on finishing up The Deuce. Ten minutes into the first episode and Munch has me laughing hard with his Montell Williams rant.
  15. While I do love the WCW Slam Jam love of the last few pages, I am currently loving another wrestling theme song. In a great tie-in to the "Bix is stalking Drake Younger who is a Proud Boy" news of this page, Between the Sheets' most recent episode is about Big Egg Wrestlung Universe. I've never really watched much joshi but at the end of the episode they play Aja Kong's theme and good Lord, it's so good. I want to find a .cdg version of it and sing it at karaoke if the bars ever open back up. ETA: I have Big Egg Wrestling Universe loaded up right now actually. I'm planning on watching the tournament matches and some of the undercard. I'm checked out of current wrestling for the most part but I think I might start trying to get into joshi. Is there a joshi for beginners thread that exists, on this board or anywhere else, that people are aware of?
  16. I wonder why she didn't just go the Patreon route? I know some of the women in Impact and on the indies have Patreon accounts. Maybe the financials are better with OnlyFans?
  17. I feel like Mark Briscoe does it too. Mancer looks like he could be a third Briscoe. I haven't really seen him work too much so not sure what his style is.
  18. If you haven't picked it up yet, JR's first book is $4.95 (plus $4 shipping no matter how much you order (in the US)) at Hamilton Books. Hamilton is a great place to order from. They ship to prisoners which is a huge pain in the ass, so throw some support to them. They for sure helped keep me sane during my time in the Feds. (They also have some wrestling DVDs and Blu-ray's for cheap. I grabbed the WWE Madison Square Garden blu for like $5 and something called the 1983 Portland Yearbook Vol. 1 for $4. All 3 for a little over $20 after tax and shipping, plus they arrived in 4 days. Can't beat that.)
  19. I have had legit rehab centers tell me this. Now, benzo withdrawal is different from opiate withdrawal which is different from alcohol. That's pretty common sense. I've only ever suffered from opiate withdrawal and that was bad enough. I don't want to think about benzo or alcohol. But yeah, legit drug counselors have told me "It will be bad but you won't die so that's good, right?" I've never done it under medical supervision, just the "lock myself in the house and pray for death" method or the "try to tough it out at work while being the most miserable human being" method. The physical aspects are bad but like you bring up, the depression is the worst. It feels like a piece is missing and that makes you depressed. You're also depressed because you know you did this to yourself. Add in the thoughts about engaging in some criminal behavior to get a fix and then the feeling like a piece of shit for having those thoughts and it's all just a gross cycle of self-hate that could lead to the ultimate escape plan. It's bad and I would never wish addiction and withdrawal on anyone. I struggle with this stuff daily. On top of the actual drug issues, add in being in my 30s and having made no advancement in my life, seeing friends from high school succeed, seeing people who are way younger than me do well for themselves....life sucks. I'm glad I have this place for some escape/peace of mind. This past few months has been really rough for me. I've been considering the s-word multiple times. The day before the shut down my friend had me in their car sitting in front of the mental hospital because I was having a break. I still have those lingering feelings. This was my first full day off with no responsibilities in a while. I've neglected my mental and physical health to the point where after hanging up with my girlfriend of sorts, I put my CPAP mask on and slept for 15 hours straight. I'm still exhausted. For a little mental break and fun I jumped on here, where I've been lurking/occasionally posting since I was like 14. I feel a little better. Thank you to everyone on here. I love you all. This post has gone way too long and I doubt you all will read it but I wanted to get it out. Love this place. Love Ken the Box. Wish we had some more Comix.
  20. Hey @OSJ, before I grab a copy elsewhere, do you have any copies of Goon available? Can't believe I've never picked it up.
  21. I'm a kitchen manager at Chili's. I eat at work so I don't ever have to buy groceries. The ribs are about the only thing on the menu I will say are good. We actually do a long smoke on them. If you get a prepper who cares, they are pretty tasty.
  22. WPW is really a fun show to watch. It's kind of like a Japanese version of "Pro Wrestling This Week" or maybe "Occupation of the Indies" with American footage. There's two sets floating around, that I know of, and I have the second. Need to find the first somewhere.
  23. That's pretty telling. I spent about a year locked up and my dad sent me the Observer every week so I could keep up. I came out wanting to watch everything. (The last Observer I got before release was the one where Dave reviewed Omega/Okada at the Tokyo Dome so I spent a week thinking about watching it as soon as I got out.) I can imagine that the current product would just increase the terrible mood that place can put you in.
  24. Sad to say that in my less mature high school days, I had an account just for trolling him. I don't remember what it was that set me off but I did not care for him. Luckily, I grew up (somewhat) and realized I was stupid. It's crazy how long I've hung around these boards.
