  1. How do we feel about Young Guns? I haven't seen it since I was a kid. I loved it then as it fit everything I wanted in a standard action/western but looking back as an adult, Emilio Estevez as Billy the Kid sounds ridiculous. I'm not sure I want to re-watch it as it will probably kill my fond memories for it. It does have some interesting side characters, though.

Estevez is absolutely fucking brilliant playing Billy The Kid as a charismaticly manipulative psychopath. The way he uses Tunstall's death as an excuse to sate his bloodlust, the way he obfuscates stupidity or geniality in order to catch people off-guard, the constant lectures on friendship to the "pals" as he gets them killed one by one through two movies, it really is a fantastically nuanced performance.

  2. The sad thing about Undertaker is that the 90's should be his best period, but he got put in that "monster who fights other monsters" gimmick that stuck him in crappy feuds with guys like Giant Gonzalez and Mabel.

And Kris Kristofferson's son was in development, and they named him Garrett Dylan? What was the second choice, Blade Dorff?

  3. I'm really hoping that some clever fan takes Peter Jackson's tedious 9-hour trilogy of Hobbit films and edits it into one pretty good 2.5 hour movie. It would probably be something like: Gandalf/dwarves recruit Bilbo -> forest with the spiders -> Benedict Cumbersmaug -> whatever the best part of this last movie is, probably a severely edited battle.

    No fucking elves. At all.

They could just use the Rankin/Bass version as a model.

  4. I've hated Stephen A-hole Smith ever since he was writing for the Philadelphia Inquirer and decided to be David Stern's hatchet man and attack Philly fans for booing Kobe.

I'm glad that she's going off on this but ESPN isn't usually too fond of this kind of thing unless it's I guess Bill Simmons who they are seemingly afraid of now..

It does seem that way, doesn't it? I'm still trying to figure out what he's got on them. Ten years ago he was the name-dropping Boston homer columnist that everyone made fun of, and now he's NBA expert numero uno, he's the head of the blog that basically makes up the editorial/commentary section of ESPN's website, and he's all over their TV despite the fact that he sounds like Wally fucking Cox.

  5.

I don't know that any sitcom can top the Fresh Prince Very Special Episode trifecta of "Carlton finds out about racist cops", "Will gets shot", and "Will's dad is an asshole".

    "I hit Alex."

OK between that and "WHY AM I ALIVE?" Family Ties has some potent Very Special cachet as well...

  7. One of the more underrated 80's moments ever was the Junkions scene from Transformers: The Movie with "Dare To Be Stupid" playing...

Combining Weird Al and Transformers is about as 80's as reading Bloom County in a mesh shirt and Jams while hopping on a Pogo Ball...

  8. Daniel Powter did not allow Weird Al to make a parody of the song, Bad Day.

Obviously Powter did not realize that Weird Al asking permission to parody your song means that you have made it big, not that you are a laughing stock.

When was the last time Powter had a hit on the US Charts?

Weird Al makes your career, asshole, he does not break it.

Yeah, when a pop artist says that they're too good for something that Michael Jackson was cool with, you might as well just tattoo "jerkoff" on their forehead and be done with it.
