There are no dead ghosts to collect in Destiny 2 like there was in the original. There are scanable objects hidden around the world but you don't get any gear or rewards from them, it's just story. No hidden quests either. Unless i'm blanking on something everything is achievable just buy playing the game.

I got a bag of dicks out of the factions this time. Last months netted me a full set of Warlock Dead Orbit gear. This time around i hit max level for New Monarchy on the Hunter and Future War Cult on the Titan. Multiple pieces of everything except no chest for the Hunter and no Mark for the Titan. As i understand it, this is the last time this set of gear is on offer and there will be a new set for season 2. Crazy that Bungie don't let you keep farming gear, it's not like it's max light so it's useless for infusion, i just wanted a complete set. The only saving grace is i did get a full set of the Playstation exclusive Titan gear from all the engrams.

Thanks for the suggestions. Might have to grab a couple of those that i haven't played for years. Any experience with Sine Mora EX? It looks like it might scratch that itch too and it's on sale on the UK PS Store at the moment.

I 100%ed something! Ok, so it didn't have a platinum trophy but it counts anyway, right? I'm not much of a trophy hunter and i rarely hit 100% in anything. It was Sky Force Anniversary which was free on PS+ for October. I love a good old fashioned vertical or side scrolling shoot em up so gave it a shot when it went free. Anyway, by the time i beat it i was only missing 2 (somewhat grindy) trophies so i stuck with it to get them. Any other decent PS4 games along those lines to continue re-living my childhood arcade days? It's a shame R-Type that's free this month isn't compatible on the PS4 or i'd go back and play that.

We got disconnected from the Crucible 3 games in a row. And it was taking a while to find teams. I can be 305 on my Titan now once I've equipped some mods and i'm just missing a 305 cloak on the Hunter. I might actually hit max light on all 3 characters before the expansion with RNGs blessing.

My biggest problem with 4v4 is that games are lasting soooo long. I can probably count on one hand how many matches actually reach the score limit before the time limit. Fortunately Bungie announced in the next patch (this week? I forget) that they are adjusting the scores and times in versions crucible game modes to speed things up a bit. I hated 4v4 in the beta but now the games here I don't mind it. It probably helps that for whatever reasons, I'm a lot better at Destiny 2 crucible than I was at Destiny. Whether that's because there's less people shooting at me or the changes to weapons and abilities, or a combination of both, I don't know. The biggest complaints I see are about how limited it is right now. Only 2 playlists, no custom games and no end game light enabled modes. Everything Destiny had is gone at the moment in Destiny 2. As for the Reddit comment The Vile One posted, that seems to be a complaint people have game wide generally and not just about the Crucible. Strikes and patrols and 3 man, crucible is 4 and the raid is 6. There's no consistency. You can't jump from one activity to another without either recruiting more people or splitting up your group. Also, the Osiris trailer looks awesome. I'm hoping they've learned their lessons from The Dark Below and House of Wolves and this is more extensive than 4 missions, a strike and a raid. I'm not expecting The Taken King or Rise of Iron sized yearly expansions for this but a little more to do wouldn't hurt.
-
Wild speculation but I'm calling it now, season 2 will be on Dec 12. Destiny 2 first expansion is coming in December. The Dark Below was released on the 9th for Destiny and this is the closest Tuesday to it. Season 2 is called The Dawning which was the Christmas event last year I believe. Plus that's 3 months after Destiny 2 dropped. 4 seasons, one every 3 months makes sense. I'm guessing we get one more faction rally and one more Iron Banner in November. Unless they change the drop rates I'm thinking there will be a lot of angry people again unable to complete a set of gear if it's changed when season 2 starts. With seasons being handled by the live team we should at least get some good quality of life improvements since they were responsible for the bulk of them towards the end of the original Destiny. Correct me if I'm wrong but 'The Taken Spring' as people called it and Rise of Iron were all down to the live team and probably the best year Destiny had. I'm not expecting huge things for the next few season since they will be very much tied down by the next 2 expansions though.

The Trials cheating is people DDoSing members on the other team. It's pretty easy to detect even without Bungie. If you look at someones profile on a site like destinytracker or something and a teams gone flawless without any kills, or only a couple of kills per game, they cheated. I'm sure Bungie have a more technical way of detecting it. They've banned the offenders for 2 weeks but then cancelled Trials for two weeks anyway and people are understandably annoyed since the ban means nothing then. I'd guess Bungie will probably just extend the bans for 2 weeks after Trials returns. But people like to complain so until they confirm something, people will continue to moan about it. As for glitches, as far as i know they cant detect when people glitch. The 2 biggest ones in Destiny 2 have been the bureaucratic walk emote that was sold last week. You could use it to step back and glitch through a wall and shoot out of it but people couldn't shoot you. The other was during week two of Trials where you could go out of bounds on the map and kill people, but again, they couldn't kill you. To deal with the people going out of bounds they just changed the map that week. I guess the emote is a bigger problem so they've cancelled Trials for 2 weeks until they fix it.
-
And Bungie being Bungie, they banned Trails cheaters for 2 weeks a few days ago and now they are taking Trials away for two weeks. That'll teach those dastardly cheaters!
-
Yeah they really mishandled the Iron Banner this time. I'm not sure what they consider 'end game' anymore. Because the tokens you get from former end game content like the raid/trials/banner don't improve you. Weirdly, on the first day and last day of the Iron Banner if you were already 300 without mods saladins gear dropped at 300 so you could farm it for infusion fodder but the rest of the week it was the typical 296ish drops which were completely pointless. And on my alts who are below max light the drops were always lower than my level making it a waist of time playing on those characters unless i really wanted a shot at that ridiculously low chance of armour. There's nothing wrong with the token system as a support to main drops, but it's crazy that it's replaced it. I think they need to fix a few things if they want people to come back for season 2. Guaranteed items for sale at Saladin below your light, 2 pieces of armour, 2 guns, just like the old Banner. Maybe charge 40 tokens and 40 shards for them. Keep the token system in place so you can grind other gear if you want below your level. Then add maybe 2 luminous engrams in there. One for rank 5 and one for rank 10. With those few changes, no one can power level from it (Bungie seems to not want people to do that). You''re guaranteed some gear like the old Banners. And your guaranteed a limited amount of high light gear like old Banners. And if you still want to grind for stuff at that point the token system is in place instead of end match rewards.
-
That is the worst one. With the reduced amount of players per team, and the higher time to kill it's damn hard to get doubles and triples now. The only class i find it somewhat easier on is the Titan. Rushing B right at the start and tossing in both pulse grenades is the most consistent way I've gotten double kills. Otherwise, it's like you say, you've just got to camp a zone late game and nuke some people with a super.
-
Yeah i really like the look of the Iron Banner armour. It's always some of the best looking in the game when they release it. I just wish the drop rates were a little better. I'd like them to make the IB closer to what it used to be though. Power enabled and guaranteed items available to buy so you don't have to rely on RNG for everything. Maybe charge tokens and shards to purchase set items from Saladin. It' a shame nothing drops post game either. It's basically regular crucible with different tokens at this point. Doesn't feel like it's special and since the light level of the gear is the same as regular legendaries it's not even end game anymore. It's weird how Destiny 2 is balanced. They've gone out of their way to make max light more accessible to casual players but at the same time, taken it away from end game content. There isn't even any end game content that needs max light this time around. It's like they cant decided who they want to aim the game at.

So after my Bannering on Tuesday i didn't get chance to get back on till Saturday thanks to an abscess deciding to pop the fuck up out of nowhere in my mouth and having to get that shit sorted, i do not recommend getting one! But enough sob stories. I grinded (ground?) the hell out of the Iron Banner over the weekend and unloaded 26 packages worth of tokens on Mr. Saladin. I got everything but the pulse rifle on my Warlock. While i'd have liked the pulse since it's my weapon of choice for the crucible i'm happy with the armour since it apparently has terrible drop rates. I got the helm in the final package i opened. I look like a goddamn space samurai! Might try my luck tonight and see if i can the pulse rifle but it doesn't matter if not. Gotta have something to chance next time around right?

305 on my Warlock! Hawthorne dropped me the missing piece of the puzzle and gave me a 300 bond which i infused into my modded Dead Orbit one to finally hit max light. Seems once you hit max light Saladins rewards drop at 300 un-modded. He gave me a sidearm and grenade launcher. The two worse weapon types in the game. But still, might have to grind a bunch of ranks with him over the weekend for infusion fodder. In other news, the prestige raid has been delayed until next week. Someone discovered a glitch in the final boss fight on normal mode that despawns all the enemies in the room. I guess Bungie tested it and it works on prestige as well.

Lord Saladin is back today with the first Iron Banner of Destiny 2 and this time he's commentating the matches himself! And he sounds kind of depressed. Like much of Destiny 2, the rewards are tokens to be turned into gear from ranking up Saladin as a vendor. 20 tokens gets you a rank. There's also a reward for ranking up 10 times in season 1. No word on what that is. Looks like it's 5 tokens for a win, 2 for a loss. 3 daily challenges, 2 tokens for each challenge and 15 more for doing all 3. Today's are fairly simple, finish a game with a positive ratio, get a 5 kill streak, capture 5 control points. And you can do these on each character so it's fairly easy to grab yourself over 63 tokens a day without a huge amount of grinding. Unless the challenges for the rest of the week turn out to be horrendously hard. Unlike previous Iron Banners, all of the gear is available, should RNG bless you. I don't know if there's a rank cap for Saladin like there was for the Faction Rally so it could well be possible to get all of the gear with enough playing, and luck. I played 7 games across 3 characters completing the challenges, only won 1 match and still walked away with 80 tokens. Took just over an hour so hitting rank 10 for the season reward doesn't sound too hard. And don't forget, as per last weeks Bungie weekly update, the true endgame is friendship! So solo playing will be punished, you will be put up against coordinated teams of absolute killers.

I actually find the D2 crucible less campy than the original. There's not a sniper rifle down every corridor or a sliding shotgun around every corner anymore. My comment about it making no sense getting rid of power levels was from an in game view. I might remember it wrong (i'm sure J.T can correct me on the lore) but i thought the whole point of Saladins Iron Banner over Shaxx crucible was Saladins thinking that Shaxx crucible was 'weak' and that a real fight had no fair play and the Iron Banner was to prepare guardians for actual combat not sport.
-
My biggest take away from the weekly update was Future War Cult came last in the faction rally. I expected it to be close between Dead Orbit and FWC with New Monarchy being nowhere to be seen. Weird that Iron Banner isn't light level enabled since that was the whole point of difference between Saladin and Shaxx. Now it's just crucible with different rewards. But samurai themed armour? I'm there!

My opinion of the crucible, I was never a big fan of Destinys PVP and I wasn't too thrilled about the announcement of everything in Destiny 2 being 4v4. Then playing the beta turned me off it even more with everyone having ridiculous amounts of health. But now it's here I like it better than the original. Probably because I'm so much better at it. In Destiny I was average, typical 1:1 ratio trading kills. In other FPS I was always at least competitive at around a 1.3-1.6 ratio usually. I'm much closer to that sort of level in Destiny 2. It's much more primary weapon based now. Weirdly my biggest problems with the crucible are probably what makes me better at it this time. Grenades and melee attacks are next to useless. A grenade was basically a free kill in Destiny and my Warlocks punch was essentially a shotgun. Also, unless you're chaining orbs you will only get one super per game. And now they've made snipers and shotguns heavy weapons it's a very primary weapon based game. I had to completely change my style and I play better because of it. The biggest problem I have is the scoring and game time. I can count on one hand how many matches I've had where a team reached the score limit before the time limit. Either reduce the amount of kills needed or tweak Shaxx mercy rule. I've been on games where we've tripped the opponents score and Shaxx is still screaming for blood. The only time I've seen the mercy rule kick in was when we were winning 30-0. As for classes and the beatings they can take. In Destiny a correctly tuned void Warlock with The Ram (I think?) had the highest health in the game. You could take a low impact sniper shot to the head and survive. Not that anyone used low impact sniper rifles. In Destiny 2, I've not really looked into it yet. I read somewhere that, for the crucible at least, anything past a resilience 5 is pointless. That's the point where you can take an extra MIDA shot or a body shot needs to be a headshot to get the same TTK. Anything above that doesn't make enough difference to take another shot. For me it always goes Warlock/Titan/Hunter. But that's mainly due to play style and how used to the classes I am. I play most on my Warlock so I play best. Least on the Hunter so I do worse. I've not played around enough with Destiny 2 yet to optimise a class.

Bah! Dead Orbit didn't need any mumbo jumbo fancy machine to warn us of the war. That things probably made from filthy vex technology anyway! Dead Orbit risked its entire fleet during The Taken War to intercept the Cabals distress signal calling for the Red Legion and warned the vanguard. Zavala even thanked Arach Jalaal! And who's ships do you think evacuated the Tower during the Cabal attack? Dead Orbit! (Probably....) You take your 50k glimmer average scout rifle with terrible perks and you thank Arach Jalaal personally! Who wants a stupid pulse rifle that makes heads explode anyway?
-
He's just a little short on funds is all. Probably had all his money tied up in equity before the Fallen took the EDZ. Had to wait for the cash to come in from the faction rally to get his fleet off the ground. He'll be good to go any day now.
-
I for one welcome our new leader, Arach Jalaal. Dead Orbit were the only ones smart enough to realise the Traveller wouldn't protect us when the time came and that we should spread ourselves across the stars instead of bunkering up in our city waiting to be slaughtered. I wish him many more faction rally victories. Didn't get on much tonight thanks to the maintenance but i knocked out Shaxx Call to Arms milestone and got some underwhelming gear. But high light underwhelming gear so i'm now 303 on my Warlock. It's just my power weapon. chest and bond that are a few points under max light. I imagine the final grind will be tedious and slow!

Yeah Bungie seem real inconsistent with quest based strikes. The Phogoth Thorn strike in Destiny had no matchmaking but the Shield Brothers strike in The Taken King did. Yet Destiny 2 has none for quests. The only one you will struggle with is the Ratking since it requires you to complete a Nightfall with at least 5 mins remaining. That means that not only do you need to find a team, it needs to be a good team since the bullshit Nightfall timers give you very little room for error. I forgot to mention in my last post, when levelling my Hunter i tried out the crucible. Pole dancer or whatever the new hunter class is called might be the worst super in the game? When i used it people could literally walk away, backwards, faster than i could get to them. The only way to catch up was to use the super to make up the distance and by the time you catch them 90% of it's gone.
-
I think the only exotic quests that requires a team is the Ratking so you should be good for 2 of the 3 'free' exotics. Though some steps require a bunch of work and RNG so they can be time consuming. You can still progress as a solo player though, and it's much easier in Destiny 2 than it was in the original. The Flashpoint and Call to Arms weekly milestones can both be done solo and don't take too long to complete each week. They both give you a luminous engram that is always higher than your current max light. As for the Nightfall, since Bungie added guided games in Destiny 2 it's possible to go in with another team and still play one. According to the weekly update over 100,000 Nightfalls were attempted when it was introduced with a 90% success rate so give it a try if you want a nice boost in power. So, dusted off and power levelled my Hunter today. We've got speed running the story down. The first run through took 15 hours. We took our time, watched everything and did a whole bunch of adventures and events along the way., The second took about 8 hours. The Hunters trip? 5 hours. My Hunter has gone from level 1 to power 272 in 300 minutes. We literally just sparrowed past everything and did the absolute minimum to beat it. Had to stop before each planet as we didn't meet the level requirements. Pretty much every encounter was 30-50 power above our own. It was kind of fun playing it on 'hard mode'. Still have the milestones to do on the Hunter so if i get chance tomorrow night i can hopefully put another 10 levels on it. Also, time for a new PS4 controller. It's been playing up for a while, the headset will cut out every so often, but now the right stick has developed a mind of it's own. Made trying to aim in the crucible interesting.
-
Weirdly, public events hate me. In 90 or so Heroic completions i think I've had 3? My friend seems to get at least one a night every time we play. I've had more from the crucible (which i hardly play) and cashing in at the Gunsmith. Such is the harsh RNG of Destiny.
-
Not as far as i know. I had the exact same problem. When it came to that step i just couldn't get one to drop. I eventually got one from a random Crucible game. That and just grinding heroic public events are probably the two most common ways of getting one to drop.
