  1. If they're going to make the interim title holder defend, which is weird to me, wouldn't it make since to push for Stipe? I mean, if you have an interim champion why run Stipe vs. Jones for the title when Jones comes back? Like are we looking at a potential card next fall, where there are two different heavyweight title holders defending against different opponents on the same night? Heavyweight is a fucking mess.
  2. I certainly don't think it was a "Yeah let's give this guy what he wants: Ciryl Gane." Kinda performances.
  3. Alemda: Did I give you guys a show or what?! Seven people in the crowd that bet on this fight going 25 minutes: YAAAAY Everyone else: ...
  4. Not if you never knew you were in a rebuild to begin with.
  5. Just to play devil's advocate... Dana may have made the right business decision because the stuff Francis was asking for beyond the money, would have set a costly precedent for future negotiations with other fighters. Perhaps moreso than whatever payday they could've gotten from co-producing this fight.
  6. That was incredible. Francis Ngannou, in his first pro boxing fight, took the heavyweight champ to a split decision. Just amazing. It's like real life Rocky.
  7. I just jumped out of my seat. Francis won a round against the best in the world. It could all go downhill from here and not matter.
  8. It's moments like this where you really appreciate how clean a WWE show is executed.
  9. This pre fight concert for Fury/Francis is... well it's longer than I anticipated.
  10. My son let me tag along and watch Five Nights At Freddy's at the movie theater tonight. Really fun movie, even if you don't play the games. He's deep into the lore and fandom, and he said it was more than he'd hoped. Then he started telling me all stuff in the movie that only fans would get, and it blew my mind. It's like the movie was speaking two languages to two different people at the same time. So if you're looking for something round out the month, it's worth hitting up.
  11. The Fog really is special. I remember putting it off for a while as a youngster because the idea of a fog being anything more than creepy ambience made me roll my eyes. But this movie was so much more than that. Without even getting into the plot, there are so many elements that I love about this movie. You got that small cozy coastal town vibe, which is really one of the best vibes you can have before you wreak havoc in a horror story. You got Adrienne Barbeau playing a cool radio DJ whose voice serves as this uniting force throughout the movie. Tom Atkins being Tom mother fucking Atkins. Jamie Lee Curtis gets to plays a much more interesting character than Laurie Strode, and she gets to work with her mom Janet Leigh. And the fucking lighting and mood of this movie is just out of this world. You look at The Thing, Halloween, and The Fog, and you really understand that John Carpenter knew how to fucking execute the plan. Everything clicks in those movies.
  12. Has anybody raised the question about why Aljamain Sterling won a title off a knee to a downed opponent, but Johnny Walker's fight was called a no contest?
  13. I don't have a huge problem with the 10-8 only because Usman was basically in a dangerous/terrible position for practically 4 of the 5 minutes. It wasn't like they were chest to chest in guard, just hanging out. That's why I thought 28-28 was reasonable. I think we're learning a lot about Chimaev when his opponents make it out of that first round barrage, and it's not all positive either. It's very possible he beats Sean and becomes champion. However, there are a lot of guys in the Top 10 that he never fought that could potentially be a real problem for him.
  14. Volk had the hand up but then dipped so far over that he exposed the top of his head. Rough rough shot. I'm good with the stoppage because it looked like the only thing keeping him up was Islam's knee at one point. It just would've kept going otherwise.
  15. I thought a Draw was on the table. If they're emphasizing Damage then I could see Usman winning the second and the third, honestly.
  16. For those who missed it: Victor Henry was kicked in the balls so bad that it fucking shut him down, and the physician came in and suggested that he was fine and that it wasn't a low blow. Anik then updated us that Henry was vomiting in the back and being taken to a hospital. That physician should probably get a talking too. His job isn't to make sure the fight keeps going, it's to protect people's health.
  17. Mike Breeden probably got himself 50K for going full DAWG in the third round, proving that age old adage: "Everyone's got a plan until your opponent starts barking like a dog."
  18. ooooo waking up to some violence. Fucking watch Shara Magomedov out strike Bruno Silva from his baaaaaaack. I don't know if this guy will go too far, because he really was too comfy staying his back.. That worked here because Silva was looking to ground and pound, but if he faces a better grappler who can neutralize that bullshit he's going to have big problems. Regardless that's a big win and he's definitely on the radar now.
  19. Onyx The Fortuitous is getting the Fathom Event treatment this Thursday. Yes, my wife and I are going to support this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKpkjcspfiQ
  20. Okay, I've been keeping on track with my 31 days of Horror and here's how I've done so far: Sea Fever: Basically made a Covid metaphor movie a year before covid. Nothing new here, with a crew getting infected with something creepy at sea. BUT the cast is really good. The last act felt like they just needed to end it, maybe for budgetary reasons, so it feels a little flat - but not a bad start. Curse of the Blue Lights: Hoo Boy, a 1988 regional horror out of Colorado. It's not "good", but there are some really fun ideas, and that's just about all I ask for. I think there's at least three instances of "So I guess the legend is true..." followed by someone explaining some lore. Spoonful of Sugar: Almost awesome? Maybe too many ideas, none of which are fleshed out in a satisfactory way. Ernest Scared Stupid: How about a bumper sandwich booger lips? Influencer: A better movie that the director's previous effort, but I think they're too in love with the cyclical plotting. The first shot kinda botches the movie from the get go. Great initial concept and a more realistic take on social media influencer. Children of the Corn: OUTLANDER! Tell me you don't laugh when they crack that girl in the face with a car door at the end of the movie. Jeepers Creepers. Still one of the best first acts in horror movies. Then slowly loses the thread the more we see the Creeper. Of course that's also its charm, no? At first we're like, who is this psycho? Then we're like "he's not of this world.." then he's doing backflips over a car like he's Jackie Chan or something. Elevator Game: Should've been a short film. You can't do the same fucking elevator ride multiple times in the movie. No One Will Save You: Almost awesome, but I think it committed to its gimmick to a fault. Gets a little repetitive but totally worth hitting up. Letherface: TCM3. I'd never seen this one. Leatherface is basically an awkward heavy metal teen - which is an idea support. I look at every sequel as it's own world and none of them affect my feelings to the original. Ken Foree is great in this and feels like he's from a John Carpenter movie. Orphan: First Kill. Not a bad sequel at all. HOWEVER it looks terrible. The director and DP decided they didn't want anyone's faces to be very legible. It's just a wash of backlighting gray muck. The Dark and The Wicked. Pretty good, though I feel like when you're dealing with demons and devils, the protagonists should have some kind of agency that can lead them out of the dark. Scream We're doing all the Scream movies this year. That opening sequence is still a banger. But I still cool on the movie once Tatum dies. It feels like the party takes an awkward shift, and it's absurd that she's still hanging in the place where the fucking BEEEER is. We're All Going to the World's Fair: Effectively captures what it feels like to be chronically online. Prone to drifting and allowing you to sit in discomfort. Left us with some interesting questions. The Strange World of Planet X (aka Cosmic Monsters) A bit of a chore, leading to some oversized insects. Scream 2 : I never thought this before, but Scream 2 might be a better movie than Scream 1, if it weren't for the ending. I think it gets tooooo fucking cute at the end, but some of the sequences are really good, and Gale Weathers/Dewey are great together.
  21. Three Colors Trilogy is awesome along with Double Life of Veronique, which might be my favorite of Kieslowski's. I'm almost tempted to bite on the Flash Sale, because I haven't bought a Criterion release in years. I used to crush those sales, and got a point where I had almost everything I wanted. Then I started to branch out to other companies to round out the collection, a man cannot live on Criterions alone, I suppose.
  22. Jonathan Martinez just did it again with leg kicks. Unreal.
  23. Well Michel Pereira is at 185 now and he looks scary.

    THE STRIKE

That looks terrible, but so is the take about this being a "scheme to phase out minority background actor opportunities." Especially when it comes to Disney who is constantly under fire by conservative commentators(and governors) for their diverse casting practices. I mean look at that clip again. They cast an Asian basketball player for that scene. They clearly don't care about logic or even physics when casting.
