  1. With any luck this isn't the only AEW/NJPW show we get - and considering that so far it is a wild success, financially, I would be expecting at least a second show in due time if not a regular yearly event ??????
  2. Somebody plz edit the Miro promo ending with the theme from the "Preacher" TV show. Dude probably wouldn't even need Genesis to fuck up The Lord. Hayter is simultaneously a wrestling machine and -netico factory. One big miss is nobody at the booth calling Garcia using the Regal Stretch. Great night of wrestling!
  3. Faith No More are in my all-time top 5, so I'd be alllllll about hearing their cover, but how does that work as far as licensing? Do they have to clear with both bands? Both record labels? I'd be curious to know, since they've got X's cover of "Wild Thing" already.
  4. Some folks here have really unhealthy parasocial relationships with certain wrestlers and other folks in the biz, posting as if they've been personally wronged by these complete fucking strangers.
  5. Now is absolutely the time to start up some new feuds because some of this stuff has felt soooooooo protracted. Joe STILL hasn't responded in-ring to Lethal and co, for example. HOB and Death Triangle plus ATT/Sammy should be considered done and all parties can move on. I like Jurassic Express a lot but they too need a fresh opponent to take the belts off them.
  6. Well that was a LOT, mostly pretty great too, but I've never before been like, "well that match fucking rocked but I totally didn't need to see it tonight." Is there any reason that these shows can't start even one hour earlier, if not two? The length wouldn't be so bad if you weren't up until the AM...
  7. I think there is a TREMENDOUS difference between bouncing right before the pay off of a years-long storyline and saying "nope" to yet another storyline of tag team champ dissolution because of distrust when said tag team wanted to keep defending their belts.
  8. So Friedman flew to Vegas just to fly back out? ?
  9. That is such a weird thing to be reminded, like not something you think about until it's mentioned. To me, this says that AEW's roster isn't as much "bloated" as it is "deep." There are SO many fresh matches yet to be had, and they've gone three years with their weekly shows consistently being at least half-bangers.
  10. You know WWE basically had a fucking monopoly for 20 years, right?
  11. Don't get me wrong, Ruby Soho brought it in that match and has been great lately, but Statlander really upped her game as well and has always been a favorite. I'd have ZERO issue with her giving Jade her first loss and taking the TBS belt.
  12. The work that Jade puts in is so fucking respectable. If she keeps up at this rate she's gonna own the whole damn business soon enough.
  13. As much it will be a wonderful match, there is ZERO reason to have Darby/KOR on the PPV. Thank fuck Monday is a holiday ???
  14. Yeah that three way dance was very good, especially in how it started with a lot of smooth/rehearsed-looking stuff but got stiffer, more chaotic and less cooperative-looking as the match progressed. Those three could easily do it again a few times and it would still rock.
  15. I was literally in Rochester NY last night eating Dinosaur Bar-B-Cue so that being mentioned popped me. Cobb/O'Khan showing up was neat until everything got blown. Botches are a part of wrestling but maaaaaan can they deflate a segment. Both OHC matches rocked. Edit: I forgot to mention MJF's phenomenal thighs. Max Caster backstage biting his knuckle...
  16. If people are gonna start writing essays y'all better start a separate thread to contain them...
  17. The stories are definitely being told, it's just that the actual matches don't seem to be announced until near the event, so we both kinda get what we enjoy? ? I hear ya, though.
  18. I really like their way of only announcing TV matches within a week of the show, as it feels organic and not so clearly staged. If it's kind of the same way with a PPV? Cool with me. One thing I really didn't enjoy with WWE television is they'd announce a PPV match between two people and then it'd just be three or four weeks of those people interacting every damn show but ultimately being like, "...and I'll get my chance at Hell In A Cell" or some similarly brainless shit. AEW has a pretty strong, built-in audience who knows that the big show's probably gonna deliver. They don't need to announce 75% of the matches ahead of time.
  19. Maybe it sucks that somebody's favorite isn't being booked right, but the general audience seems stoked so maybe folks should just appreciate that? They're popping crowds, selling merch, thriving - enjoy that for your favorites ?
  20. Statlander going all in (heh) on power/hoss mode RULES. Main event was killer, easily the best Sydal match in recent times, and the other 3 obviously brought it.
  21. A biiiiiiiig portion of that "signed" list are wrestlers who indeed wrestled for WWE but made their names in the indies - or in Regal's case, friggin WCW! So yeah, "TK is signing up Vince's castoffs" is a talking point that's patently false.
  22. ...but it isn't. Feel free to go look up all the talent WWE has released in the last 3 years and count the folks who AEW signed. You might just surprise yourself!
