  1. Great show from last night. Loved every minute of it. Demus vs Connelly has to be one of the most insane matches I’ve ever seen. Slim J vs Adam Priest was incredible. As I said on Twitter, the whole show was a celebration and appreciation of the many types of styles of pro wrestling that Dean influenced and introduced many too. Any other show this weekend is gonna have a hard time topping it.

While I liked the Rude/Warrior trilogy much more than Technico, I do think he's spot on with his assessment of Warrior and Hogan.

My favorite match of the Warrior/Rude trilogy is SummerSlam ‘89. Rude just absolutely bumps his ass off and the crowd is just molten hot.

Curious as to your thoughts on putting Patterson v Slaughter on the list

For me, it was one of the first pre-Hulkamania matches of the WWF that made me genuinely want to see it. I don't remember how I first heard about it (probably from a magazine or something) but hearing about the violence and brutality of it was something that made me want to track it down. I'm kind of a novice on early 80s WWF but from what I can figure out is that WWF (or WWWF) didn't exactly do violent and bloody matches on the regular, which made the Alley Fight stand out even more.

What are the 5 Most Important WWE matches of all time, in your opinion?

Coming at this with the full disclaimer that most anything pre-1980 is a blind spot for me but I'd say:

Sgt Slaughter vs. Pat Patterson (Alley Fight, MSG)
Hulk Hogan vs. Iron Sheik (MSG Jan 84)
Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (WrestleMania 3)
Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin (WrestleMania 13)
Steve Austin vs. The Rock (WrestleMania 17)

Other matches I thought about were Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker (Hell in a Cell), John Cena vs. JBL (WrestleMania 21), Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair (WrestleMania 24), Bruno Sammartino vs. Larry Zbyszko (Shea Stadium), Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior (WrestleMania 6), Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart (Survivor Series 97)

We just had to let the family dog go. Leo was 15 years old, so he had a pretty good, long life. Spoiled rotten dachshund, totally unsocialized and barked at everything, loved my mom from the day he chose her out of the group of puppies she was introduced to. They took him to the doctor ("the girls", as they were known here) and he was diagnosed with kidney failure. I've been through it once before with our basset hound Comet who lived about as long and it was a relief for her to not be in pain anymore. Leo was barely eating and looked terrible, he got bad really quick over the last 2-3 months, so it's good that he won't be suffering worse. I loved him a lot.

    My condolences Curt.

A week ago I noticed some anomalies with the water supply. Turns out it was two separate leaks. I'm not one for messing with plumbing or electricity. The first leak was fixed on Monday. The second on Wednesday. Fixing the first revealed the second. Since the house is 40+ years old and the water lines(Quest) are obsolete any sort of repair requires some splicing. All is well for now. The next step would be a "repiping"(which would modernize the plumbing, but it's not cheap) and then everything would be good to go.

I’m with you on that. Plumbing and electricity is stuff I don’t mess with. Too many things could go wrong.

Glad your leak(s) got fixed though!

  7. I swear I can’t win. Was out doing some errands and my right rear tire popped! Luckily I made it to the tire shop but the left rear is bad too. So I’m sitting here and waiting as they put two new tires on. Ugh 😑

I asked them not to charge me an arm and a leg though. I don’t have a leg to spare! 😂

I deleted my twitter a while ago and it honestly did me some mental health favours. Doomscrolling was always real but that site has gone in the shitter so hard post-Elon that it might as well be Truth Social 2.

I deleted mine long ago when I was having some mental issues. I don't have any social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) at all anymore (well, aside from hanging out here) and I don't miss it in the least.

  9. Haven't posted in a bit, took a bit of a social media and online break after I hurt my ankle back at the start of the year and was feeling depressed, especially after I was laid up on the couch wearing a walking boot. Good news is that I got the boot off last week and I'm doing well!

Didn't Pondo half-retire or something too?

Pondo has been active with Big Japan recently. He won their Death Match Heavyweight Title (not sure the exact name) right around the end of the year and held it for like a week before losing it back to whoever he won it from.

Also he’s popped up in GCW several times over the past year or so.

  11. Just got back from the foot & ankle doctor. Good news and bad news …

Good news is it is indeed a stress fracture in my foot and should hopefully heal on it’s own.

Bad news is that I have to spend the next six weeks in a walking boot until I go back for a follow up. This means I basically will be unable to walk and stuck in my wheelchair for the next six weeks.

I go for a follow up appointment on Feb 13th and as long as everything looks good I should be able to get out of the boot.

  12. I still need to watch the match that John E. Dynamite (tagging thing won't work ... grr) assigned me last week. Haven't been in the mood to watch much wrestling lately due to the situation going on with my foot and ankle currently.

So does it, like, hold the beverage without spilling even when you're walking with the crutch? That would require some clever engineering, I would think.

Yeah, so it’s a small little bag/pouch/purse type thing that hangs off the handle of my forearm crutches. I can tie it to the shaft of the crutches underneath the handle so it doesn’t bounce around when I walk with them. I can carry essentials in it like my phone, keys, etc plus it’s got a spot big enough to carry a 20oz bottle of Coke/Pepsi/water/whatever that’s on the side of it.

And a holder for Brynn's crutch not only seems logical and the most obvious idea in the world, but I bet they only came out with one in the last couple years because, you know... people aren't that bright and probably don't think about how differently abled people are affected by things we take for granted.

Oh, you have no idea how convenient a cup holder on a crutch is, especially for someone like me who uses them 99% of the time!

This honestly made my day! Thanks Curt!

I did something to my ankle the other day, my ONLY ankle by the way. Not sure if I sprained it or twisted it or what but it hurts like crazy when I move it. It’s not swollen or anything but I’m trying to stay off it currently, which means laying on the couch and if I need to get up off the couch, I have to use a wheelchair to go anywhere. Having one leg with a bum ankle isn’t fun. Happy New Year to me I suppose.

Ok … ankle update. It’s actually worse today than it has been the past few days. My girlfriend took me to urgent care this morning and I was able to get an x-ray. Guess what? Stress fracture in my foot (at least from what they could tell). So now my ankle and foot are wrapped (which sucks because I have one leg) until I can see a foot & ankle doctor on Tuesday for further diagnosis.

  16. I got a few lottery tickets here too from my friends party. Won ten bucks on a scratch off so not bad.

Aside from that … nothing major. Just some blu-rays, AirPods, a cup holder for my crutches (may not sound like a big deal but it is!), some clothes and also several Visa gift cards, one of which I turned into an IWTV subscription for a few months.

The main thing for me was that I drove home for Christmas and my girlfriend came with me, which means she got to meet my friends and my sister so I was happy about that!

  18. Devil's Playground Match: Kidd Bandit vs. Drexel (Prestige Non-Stop Feeling, Jul. 22, 2022)

    Assigned to me by @AxB

This was a weird match. I'm not familiar with either wrestler but Drexel looks like something out of a Rob Zombie movie. Kidd Bandit's anime offensive was cute but felt a little out of place for a match like this. There was one spot where Kidd did some sort of anime pose with kendo sticks and Drexel just chucked a chair that hit them straight in the head. There were lots of the usual deathmatch or hardcore spots with staple guns, thumbtacks, glass and what not. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a barbed wire wrapped sword used in a match so that was new. Finish with the barbed wire doors was fine. I think this had potential but there was a lot of downtime in between spots which killed the momentum for me.
