  1. Still don't get why an Austin comeback match prohibits other guys from being made. None of these guys are ready to be main draws anyway. If anything, having Austin on the card will bring more eyeballs to these new guys. And with WWE's medical testing being what it is today, no one'a going to die. If there's any concern, they won't clear him.
  2. Bingo. And its not like featuring Austin in a match will somehow derail Rollins, Ambrose, or Reigns. Even though I think Reigns and his power ranger outfit suck. But that's neither her nor there.
  3. Its part of the idiotic IWC wrestling handbook. Don't feature part timers or workers from other promotions, even if they'll make you a bunch of money.
  4. You're completely right about the perception of being cool. The closest I came to feeling like TNA was cool was during the LAX push in 2006, when Konnan was cutting awesome promos and Cide was dropping AJ on his head. Its hard to be perceived as cool when the voice of your company is MIke Tenay. And yes, if finding a money mark means you get to make a run at a legit #2 promotion then I would consider that a good thing.
  5. That's a pretty presumptive thing to say, given that no one has seen him in the ring yet. The closest we came was the thing with Alex Riley a few years back, and Austin looked like he hadn't missed a beat. The stuff he did with Riley would be what his matches would consist of. I heard these same arguments about HBK before he came back. "His back is made of glass, he won't be able to bump, blah, blah." You just don't know. I don't want to see him In a tag match and I don't think he would be coming back if he couldn't work singles. They need to go the once In a lifetime route which is Cena vs. Austin.
  6. Seriously. She tells him that she doesn't feel safe with a gun in the house and he asks her why she hates America & the 2nd amendment. Thought I was watching a FOX news for a second.
  7. I was never a fan of ECW. I thought their programming was hard to follow, the production values were a joke and anyone who has a problem with TNA's level of violence or how they treat talent (which has been brought up countless times) should take a hard look at ECW, which will show them where a lot of those practices started. Beyond that, ECW was 100% guilty of A LOT of stuff that TNA gets crapped on for doing. Sorry, but if you're going to complain about TNA pushing has-beens and WWE castoffs, don't bring up ECW because they were guilty of the same shit. Putting their world title on a beat-up, battered 50-year old Terry Funk (and allowing him to take the risks he did) and a castoff like PJ Polaco was at the time, are prime examples.
  8. To put into context, the WWE is not TNA. They organically make their own stars. There is no need to bring in old stars from the previous generation for one time matches that boost nobody on the card. They've been doing nostalgia matches and one-off special attraction matches on Mania for a long time now. They've put the belt on two part-time acts in recent years! How many of those matches involved Austin? You do realize that he is playing you. Just as Simmonds played everyone by taking on the NFL and getting suspended to promote his new show, Austin mentions 'one more match' and everyone thinks he is returning. You are just being played. Non involved Austin. They involved other guys in their 40's and 50's from a different generation, most of whom weren't the draws that Austin was. What's your point?
  9. Christ, you're talking about a fucking company that put their belt on a damn near 50-year old Terry Funk, the artist formaly known as Aldo Montoya, among others. Really? Everyone likes to talk about how there are money marks out there and other companies that can take TNA's place. They should feel free to go ahead and try. Make no mistake and shit on them all you want, but they DID get 10 years on national TV and DID make it further than anyone else,. If there's another company out there that has a product which can draw better than TNA, they should find a money mark and get on national TV. Since an embarasssment like TNA can do it, shouldn't be that hard, right?
  10. That line got me thinking about how Heyman would bring in guys from the big 2 and, with a few exceptions, books up and job them out to his own talent. Spike Dudley walked all over PN News and I have to wonder if TNA wouldn't of made him a grand slam champion in the same atmosphere. And I agree, when TNA dies or limos along, whichever is worse, there won't be any eulogies or "can the business survive" articles.it'll be a giant joke and a sigh if relief like watching a relative pass away of cancer. At least it's out of it's misery. That line got me thinking about how Heyman would bring in guys from the big 2 and, with a few exceptions, books up and job them out to his own talent. Spike Dudley walked all over PN News and I have to wonder if TNA wouldn't of made him a grand slam champion in the same atmosphere. It actually got me thinking about how they brought Sid and had him squash all three of the Dudleyz in 1 segment. The notion that TNA influences anyone by doing authority angles and therefor should die is hilariously bad logic. Like other promotions can't think for themselves and decide to copy TNA of all companies.
  11. Nice to know that Eva Marie's husband is a gun-obsessed crazy Republican. Really can't stand people like him.
  12. I'd like to see Austin channel his 1997 version to Cena's Bret Hart, since those similarities are there.
  13. I see, well I guess you haven't watched any Wrestlemanias in the past 10 years or so. The WWE is into making money. If Austin is available and wants to do it, you can bet he'll be wrestling, because at the moment, he'd make more money then Rollins, Reigns, and Ambrose combined.
  14. Not to mention that the comparison makes no sense whatsoever. The epitome of apples to oranges. Not sure how I made your point evilwaldo? My only point is that bringing in Austin would make money and would be fun for a lot of fans, granted they might be outside of DVDVR. And I don't think making new stars and having Austin participate in a couple matches have to be mutually exclusive.
  15. Eh, the ECW comparison is off mark. This is Austin we're talking about-- bringing him back for a nostalgia match would make big bucks and the crowd reaction would be off the charts. Hell, the crowd went nuts for that Sting video game promo and he hasn't been relevant in 20 years. The older fans would be all over it and all it would take would be 1 classic austin promo to get the younger fans on board.
  16. We wouldn't have gotten awesome crazy David Flair with Crowbar and Daffney.
  17. Legit surprised that people would have no interest in this. I think the majority of the fanbase would feel differently. As far as what he would draw-- Austin vs. Cena at Mania would easily match the business that Cena/Rock did and possibly exceed it.
  18. And the fact that everyone who's worked with him acknowledges that he's no idiot.
  19. .....and made a bunch of money in the process.
  20. Well,Taker got a concussion working with Brock and we've all seen the Cena matches. But who knows. I do agree that their styles don't really compliment each other. A full time return for Austin? Might be a disappointment . But not a few one-off matches ala The Rock. His character may be something of the 90's but there is no doubt a huge market for seeing him in the ring again, for nostolgia purposes if nothing else. I don't see how Austin vs. Cena at WM31 woulde be a crashing disappointment. It would do monster box office. As far as Punk, non of us really know for sure. Its known that he's always wanted to face Austin so theoritically that could be a way to entice him and get the juices flowing again.
  21. So the rumors of his return are heating up and he's even hinted at it during his podcast. If it happens, who should he face? I only see two options that would be worth it- 1) Cena 2) Punk Cena is an obvious choice and a program with Austin could be a good catalyst for him turning heel eventually. The storyline with Punk would fit beautifully and it would be a match that i believe he would come back for. Straight edge vs. the beer swilling redneck. They could even weave in how both guys took their ball and went home at one point. In terms of pure box office and crowd reaction though, I'd probably have to go with Cena. Oh, and I whiffed on Brock. He would be a possibility although from a safety standpoint, it probably would not be smart.
  22. EC3 obviously, Muhammad Hassan. Punk will be back eventually, but he's an obvious one. Drew McIntyre is a good one.
  23. Nash is probably one of the top 5 smartest wrestlers history. On what planet is he dumb?
  24. The Jackie Gayda thing was in reference to EC3, not Joe. I thought you called his in-ring work pathetic. And the idea that TNA's mere existance would somehow detract potential suitors from wrestling is just dumb. First, everyone knows what wrestling's reputation is among TV networks already so its not like they're ruining some pristine image. And second, the fact that they're the only wrestling company besides WWE to get national TV (twice, come January) shows that despite all their faults, they're not as incompetitant as some think.
