  1. It is lazy matchmaking. But at the same time they have to feed someone to Vitor "we're not hiding him in Brazil" Belfort without killing off any more potential title challengers at MW or LHW. I guess Sonnen could have worked too. Going with Hendo/Vitor probably means they've convinced Wanderlei to fight Sonnen.
  2. I think they keep him for at least one more fight since heavyweight is SO thin. Probably on free TV again so they don't have to pay him PPV points. They already paid him his ridiculous $1,000,000 signing bonus, so at this point it's just his show money. Reem vs. Hunt or Nelson would still be a good fight for a TV card. If he loses to them then he's out for sure.
  3. Oh nice. Yeah I was checking the Comcast guide last night to set this to record and didn't see it. Figured it would flip over at midnight tonight or something. Thanks for the heads up.
  4. Exactly. I like the idea now that FS-1 will be the "main" UFC channel. Fight Nights, Prelims, UFC Tonight and TUF. And then there's FS-2 if you want even more stuff (Best of Pride, Unleashed, Weigh-ins, behind the scenes crap, etc...). It will probably take a little while for people to catch on (always does with a channel switch) but eventually this should be a good thing for the UFC. God knows it has got to be better than Fuel...
  5. All of their programming now being on the Fox Sports channels and Big Fox seems a lot better than Big Fox, FX, and Fuel (which Comcast didn't even carry!). It's too bad they couldn't have launched these channels back in 2011. The majority of the UFC content being on Fuel was awful. At least now it seems like all cable providers will have access to the Fox Sports channels.
  6. According to: http://www.ufc.com/news/ufc-fox-sports-1-faq FOX Sports 1 - The network will air highly anticipated UFC Fights live beginning August 17 in the form of UFC Fight Night, the program which includes the pre-fight show, prelims and main fight. In addition, the network will air UFC Tonight, the official news and information show of the UFC, weekly beginning 9/11 (the initial episode will air on FOX Sports 2 on 8/20 at 11pm ET). The Ultimate Fighter, UFC’s signature reality series, moves to FOX Sports 1 from FX when it returns on September 4th for Season 18. The season, featuring Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate as coaches, will run on Wednesday evenings at 10 PM ET. FOX Sports 1 will also air other UFC related programming through the course of the year including UFC Unleashed and UFC Ultimate Insider. FOX Sports 2 - FUEL TV will be rebranded as FOX Sports 2 starting August 17. The new network will feature live fights, weigh-ins, UFC Ultimate Insider and more.
  7. I believe the new breakout is supposed to be: Big FOX - for 3 or 4 network shows they do a year FS-1 - For TUF, UFC Fight Nights, PPV and Big FOX Prelims, Countdown Shows, and UFC Tonight FS-2 - For FS-1 prelims, UFC Unleashed, Best of Pride, etc... And of course PPV.
  8. Machida is bigger, stronger, faster, has better wrestling, good BJJ, and is a better striker with knockout power. I think Diaz is smart enough to know he needs to come back to a winnable fight considering he is 1-2 in this UFC run. This fight is not winnable for him. I don't think any of those reasons would factor into Diaz not taking the fight. I've never known Machida to have any kind of "wrestling" per se either. He's a bigger guy, that's about it. I don't think for one minute that Diaz wouldn't expect to win that fight, not that he would though. I think his only reasons for not taking the fight would come from him being an eccentric nutjob, not having to do with the opponent. I suppose I should have said Machida has excellent defensive wrestling. Diaz isn't Phil Davis or Jon Jones so he's not taking Machida down to work his BJJ game was my point.

  10. I would be totally on board with something like this happening.
  11. Best: Either Blitzkrieg vs. Juvi or Benoit/Malenko vs. Raven/Saturn from Spring Stampede '99 Worst: Ugh... Booker T vs. Buff Bagwell from the infamous Tacoma, WA RAW that changed over to Nitro at the end... so, so bad. The crowd just shit on this to no end. We stayed till the end, but I would say most of the crowd was gone before the match ended.
  12. The WBA are especially horrible now with their "Regular" and "Super" champs...
  13. I believe that is the WBA Super World Heavyweight Title.
  14. Who else does Vitor fight though? He's stuck fighting in Brazil due to his TRT. I doubt they will give him a MW title shot since they have to hide him in Brazil (god forbid he won and they have a champ that can't fight in Vegas). At this point Vitor is probably better off for them as an "attraction" fighter like Wanderlei Silva... fighting at 205, 195, 185, whatever... in interesting fights, but fights without MW title implications.
  15. Yeah now he probably gets either Maia or the winner of Condit/Kampmann. God I would love to see Maia sub him in like 30 seconds.
  16. Vitor likely loses to Weidman, Silva, Sonnen, Okami, and maybe Munoz at MW. Yeah he's looked good lately, but like FSW said, he can ONLY fight in Brazil right now and he's obviously juiced to the gills. You really think the UFC wants to risk a MW champ that can't fight in the USA? Especially not in Nevada where Kizer has said they would not license him... No, they don't want to risk that somehow Vitor wins and they have a champ that can only fight in his home country cause he's juiced. It would be a joke. I doubt Vitor ever gets a title shot again if he keeps up the TRT.
  17. Evans vs. Hendo wasn't the planned main event. It was only moved to the main after another fight (can't think of it now) was canceled due to injury. But as the bout agreements to Evans vs. Hendo had already been signed and they had only been training for a 3 round fight, it stayed that way. If it had been the planned main event from the get go, it would have been 5 rounds as all non-title main events have been since UFC 138.
  18. That low buy rate for Evans vs. Hendo is a good thing, and hopefully a wake up call for the UFC. That card would have been crap for a FOX show, let alone PPV. Maybe a few more buy rates in the 100k range and they'll start stacking their PPVs a bit more. Also that seems low for Silva vs. Weidman, but they really didn't do a good job explaining to causal fans who Weidman is and why they should watch. I think most people thought it would just be Silva vs. The bum of the month part 8,201. I know I had to convince my brother (who's an average casual fan) it would be worth watching.
  19. You guys wouldn't be so upset if he didn't have personality. You can't call someone wooden and bland and then blow up when he actually does something that makes him stand out. I think with Rory the issue is more "this guy is creepy and irritating and I don't want to watch him" rather than someone like Floyd Mayweather where it's "this guy is an asshole, and I will pay my hard earned money to watch someone try and shut him up"
  20. What weight class is this freak show supposed to be at? Can Rampage make 200 lbs for cruiserweight?
  21. Same here. Can't stand Rory. Plus he won't fight GSP and I hate when that crap clogs up a division (see Cormier and Cain at HW). If Jake wins we've got the next challenger after Hendricks.
  22. We doing picks for UFC on Fox 8 this weekend? EDIT: I guess the better question is, is there someone that's going to run picks from now on?
  23. People on dates and groups of teenagers. I hope to god nobody goes and watches something like Grown Ups 2 alone at the theater...
