  1. I want to see a Jey turn and feud with Roman, but not with the title at stake. I don’t think Jey or Sami are the right guys to take the belts off Roman. I expect a Jey single push to go the same way Kofi’s did. Give it a year or so then reunite the Usos.
  2. For an A-lister, Rock has done a surprisingly good poor job of picking material. I assume he can afford to surround himself with the best media consultants. Maybe he needs to listen to them more? i don’t rate Big Dave highly as an actor, but all I’ve really seen him in is GotG.
  3. Turned on a game Saturday afternoon and was briefly impressed at the size of the crowd. Hot crowd. They were cheering their heads off. Took me about 30 seconds to realize I had left the tv on the NFL Network the the night before and the game on the screen was actually a replay of the Jacksonville-KC playoff game from a few weeks earlier. Crowd was decidedly more mild once I flipped stations to an actual XFL game.
  4. I know it’s only February but i feel confident Metroid Prime Remastered will be my game of the year.
  5. Also worth noting that the Rami Sebei . the pro wrestler who plays a character named Sami Zayn on tv - is making the most money he ever has and is part of one of the hottest angles in company history. Sami is far mote over than he was just a year ago and is moving a lot of merch. This isn’t working out poorly for Sami/Rami by any stretch of the imagination and putting the title on him probably wouldn’t drastically improve his standing.
  6. I think the play is to continue Sami & the Bloodline story after WM and let Sami finalllyyyy get the big win in spring or summer after Roman drops the title. Really no reason the story has to end here or at WM. My only gripe with continuing the feud is that I’d prefer to see Jey as Roman’s post-WM feud. Though I’m skeptical they’ll break up the Usos for any length of time. Also, Meltzer claimed two years ago (when they started the Bloodline angle and Jey feuded with Roman for a bit) that one of the reasons Jey’s babyface turn seemed to end so abruptly was that Roman, Jimmy, and Jay didn’t want to feud with each other.
  7. Didn’t the problems start when the board changed hosting services (again)? I think that’s probably the culprit. I admire the determination of people who still try to embed links.
  8. I’ll take your word for it, but I rewatched the finish a half-hour ago and didn’t really notice much of that. Crowd put heat on Roman (he is a cheating heel, after all) and perked up after KO came out and ran off the Bloodline. i feel like the disconnect between the internet and the paying crowd (and probably tv audience) is going to be more noticeable than usual. I don’t expect DVDVR regulars to accept anyone else except Sami as champ or admit Cody is hot right now. Lol, it’ll be the Emperor’s New Clothes, 2K23 edition. Personally, I don’t love the finish but the result is fine with me. The finish was too overbooked for my liking. Two ref bumps, two Usos, several chairs shots the ref managed not to see, multiple visual pins without a ref to count. I guess they are going to use the “is-he-isn’t-he” story with Jey to drive tv ratings, but i would have preferred a decisive turn to set up the rumored tag match. Obviously, all the people claiming Jey couldn’t get into Canada got worked. Or just knew less than they thought they knew to begin with. Maybe Usos used twin magic to cross the border. Jimmy goes through customs, tosses his passport over a fence to Jey, and “Jimmy Uso” goes through customs for the second time in ten minutes.
  9. Personally, I don’t think Sami is the guy to end Roman’s 2+ year run. I’m much more interested in Sami/KO vs. the Usos - assuming that is the direction they go. With or without the title, Sami is in a much better spot than he was a year ago, so I don’t feel like it matters that much. Very surprised that I am interested in Seth vs. Logan Paul.
  10. This board is generally opposite land, so it would be a surprise if it accepted that the crowd seemed mostly happy.
  11. My scenario would be to have Jey cost Sami the match tonight. Owens makes the save. Cody/Roman main events night one of WM. Sami/KO vs. the Usos main events night two. Roman retains vs, Cody at WM. Sami and Owens win the tag titles. Cody comes out on Raw the next night and vows to keep coming for Roman until he wins the titles from Roman. Sami comes out on SD that week and makes it clear he has unfinished business with Roman. Raw or SD get Roman and the Usos vs. Cody/Sami/KO. Roman spends the next couple months fending off both Sami and Cody. He’s also at odds with the USOs, especially Jey. Finally, it all implodes. Cody wins the title with help from Sami. Sami wins some sort of non-title gimmick match (I quit?) with Roman to blow off their feud. Jey finally turns babyface and quits the Bloodline after doing the conflicted gimmick for a few months. Another six-man on either SD or PPV. Jey/Sami/KO vs. Roman/Solo/Jimmy. Go into summer with Jimmy and Solo trying to get the tag titles back from KO and Sami. Roman and Jey feud and Jey beats Roman at SummerSlam with Sami in Jey’s corner, paying off the beginning of the angle almost three years earlier.
  12. We can only hope. I have zero interest in a Bray match, but the backstage politics would be fascinating. I want to be in the room when Hunter tries to convince Brock to put Bray and his spooky mumble-jumbo over. Would Brock really agree to not only do a job, but let Bray no-sell all his (Brock’s) power moves. Same problem with Lashley. Lashley generally gets to steamroll the roster. Are they really going to cut him off at the knees for Bray (answer: probably). I probably won’t end up watching the matches or whatever leads up to it, but it’s fascinating backstage politics.
  13. According to Wikipedia, she’s had two regular co-hosts in the 11 or 12 years since Philbin retired. Stratham stayed with the show for 3 and a half years and Seacrest has had the gig for close to six years. That doesn’t sound like much to me. She was Philbin’s co-host for something like nine years. I had no idea Seacrest had been on the show that long. I would have guessed a year or so. I barely pay any attention to talk shows though. I’ve never seen Jimmy Kimmel’s show, for example, or the guy on NBC after the news whose name escapes me at the moment. I’ve watched a couple of Colbert’s monologues over the years, but probably less than six times in however many years he has been on the shows. With all the other choices available these days even at 11:30 or 12:30 at night, I’m surprised talk shows are still a thing.
  14. Did anything come of this (I missed it if it did)? i feel like it was at least partially performance outrage. If Shannon was going to be offended by Skip, he would have quit the show long before now.
  15. Haven’t been on the site for a couple months, so probably a good time for an update. Still have stage 4 lung cancer. Finished my fourth round of chemo on Jan 31. On Tuesday, I go in for a scan then meet with my oncologist. If the scans look good, I am done with chemo for the time being and will continue on with immunotherapy (Keytruda) every three weeks. If something alarming shows up on the scan, we will continue with chemotherapy. Scans I had done six weeks ago looked encouraging, so my oncologist isn’t expecting to order more chemo for me, but it all depends on how Tuesday morning goes. I’ll probably end up going in every three weeks for Keytruda for the next two years, but Keytruda doesn’t have the severe side effects chemo does. Survived four rounds of chemo so far. First two rounds were tolerable and I was able to keep going to my office and doing a little bit around the house. I was zonked out for a couple days but bounced back reasonably well. Third and fourth rounds just kicked my ass. Not only tired, but fatigued. Deep, all-consuming fatigue. Driving tired me out. Standing tired me out. I stayed home and slept more. I’ve been constantly tired the past few months, which I can handle, but the fatigue is something else. Even thinking about doing something takes so much effort. Nausea hasn’t been too bad. They have decent drugs for that now. I’ve lost very little weight. Had some bad go-rounds with muscle aches, but those bouts were few and far-between. Hicupped for almost two days straight at the beginning. Side effect of the steroid I am on for my immune system. Had to take something for that too. Family and friends have been great. People constantly offer to do things for me, give me rides, bring me food. I turned everyone down almost every single time. I have done tons of stuff I had no energy for but did it anyway. Drove myself to work, went to birthday parties, did chores around the house. People keep asking me if I’m up to this stuff and I want to scream at them “are you insane? I may collapse with one more step.”. I can understand why people stay in and curl up and wait for chemo to be over, but it’s not me. There will be plenty of time later for friends and family to figure out what life looks like without me around. No one needs a preview now. I am determined to hobble through this best I can. I am very much my father’s son, lol. Stayed caught up at work better than I hoped. I have good people who rose to the occasion and covered my slack. I don’t have the sort of job where I can just take time off or get a replacement. And…. We all care about the company. Obviously, I don’t have a lot of young people working for me, lol. Made partner. We’ve been talking about that for while with very little being done, but either someone finally lit a partner under the partnership's collective ass or, more likely, they.’re trying to see to it that my wife is comfortable financially after….. I have that taken care of, I think, but I appreciate the gesture. Also, we are very profitable these days. I’m hoping we grow large enough to attract the attention of one of the mega corps in our field snd they buy us up and make most everyone in the place damn wealthy. That.’s my goal from here on in: get us bought out before something happens to me. I’ve always been goal-oriented, so trying to race ahead of deadlines is old hat to me. Ok, enough for now. Getting tired and wife wants to watch a movie.
  16. According to an email I got, current Xfinity subscribers will have Peacock free until 6/26. Peacock will no longer be free for new customers after April 2. But, beginning April 3, new Xfinity subscribers will be offered a six-month subscription to Peacock at a discounted price. I also googled Variety and a few other websites to make sure their articles said the same thing. As an Xfinity customer, Peacock has been free to me since the beginning. I only activated my account in January and began watching. Wife and I are already out of shows we want to watch, so I can understand why they made the WWE deal.
  17. Finally read All-Star Superman. Liked it quite a bit, wouldn’t rate it a classic. Hall of Very Good, I guess. It’s a fun, gentle take on Superman. Morrison lifts a lot of elements from the 50’s to 70’s incarnations of the character. Even the structure of the book seems lifted from an earlier era. There’s a continuing story running through all twelve issues, but the book still feels very episodic. They was apparently a deliberate choice by Morrison. In many ways, All-Star Superman reminds me of Alan Moore’s “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?” which was meant to be the last Silver-Age Superman story. Morrison is more successful with that, but he had 12 issues to work with. Moore got two. I run hot and cold on Frank Quitely, but the art here is outstanding.
  18. How do you play it at a later date without pushing the playoffs back a week?
  19. Fair enough. I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to put my NYE resolution into practice.
  20. Did you mean that to be as condescending as it sounds? And Democrats wonder why half the country just tunes them out. I used to believe in intelligent debate and talking out differences to find common ground, but no one seems interested in that, so my New Year’s Resolution this year is to treat other people’s opinions with the same respect they treat mine (ie, practically none),
  21. It’s an unprecedented situation. I dunno that you can fault the league for not getting it right immediately. Holier-than-thou attitudes are wearing me out tonite.
  22. It may be a positive sign, but a lot depends on if they can stabilize him. If he crashes (frequently), they may need to shock his heart to get normal rhythm back. That does damage in and of itself, as you might expect. Additionally, they probably will have to give him meds to regulate blood pressure and the like. If they have to push a high level of drugs, there’s a high risk of complications. I volunteered in an ER for about 12 years. Saw people get revived only to suffer organ failure 12 hours later because of the high volume of meds needed to keep their bodies going. The other concern is brain damage, which can’t be properly accessed until he wakes up. It looked like they gave him CPR for about 10 min, which in an awfully long time for the brain to be without oxygen. If he was without oxygen for that long, some degree of cognitive or neurological impairment is possible. Actually, it is probably likely. My er experiences taught me that, If I ever stop breathing for more than a couple minutes, I would much rather just die. I’m not keen on being brought back as a shell or losing the use of one side of my body or whatever. I’m not an expert and the unlikely does happen, but I’ve seen my share of people revived after several minutes and the results are usually sad. I actually once had to administer CPR to an elderly woman for about three minutes. She had a heart attack in the hospital gift shop while I was in there buying a drink and I administered CPR until the hospital’s trauma response team
  23. Bias partied himself to death the night of the NBA draft and died of a cocaine overdose.
  24. Personally, I don’t understand the folks who won’t watch shows because they may not get multiple seasons. If I get invested in a show and it gets canceled, eh. Fun while it lasted. Time to find something else on.
