  1. I feel AEW commentary is pretty good about not pushing stuff as hilarious when it clearly isn’t, overall they all come off as pretty genuine. Hell you can even tell when JR is sitting there in shock when something is way too stupid for him.
  2. How has no one mentioned OC asking the commentators “how do you win this match again?”. That got the biggest laugh of the night from me. Cage looks in better shape than I remember him being, as in he looks like he dropped a tiny bit of size in exchange for more mobility. TNT match was OK but I hated everything between Jake, Arn and Tyson, just completely unnecessary. Let the guys wrestle. Really happy with the Shida win, she was basically the uncrowned champion by being number one contender for 13 straight weeks. Brodie’s gear keeps improving and he looked specially bad ass when he dropped the straps. I enjoyed this brawl, no nonsense and just two guys beating the shit out of each other. Main event was beautiful, what else can be said. This “cinematic” matches work so much better with commentary and without music btw. It sounded like absolutely everyone involved was having a blast. My only complaint really was the bad audio/dialog on a couple of occasions which is really unacceptable at this level and with a pre taped match.
  3. LMAO at Cody always giving QT shit about his hair. Trent and Kenny kicked the shit out of each other for absolutely no reason and I loved it. Holy shit, how incredibly annoying is Austin Gunn? Both today in the crowd and last week in the locker room shots he was unbearable. Awesome video package for Hager and Moxley. Hyped me up for a match I had zero interest in. I laughed when I heard Marko was going to be Archer’s first opponent. Lance looked like fucking Goro next to him. Tiny Inner Circle shirt for Vanguard 1 made my day. I’d say just let Jericho feud with the drone for the next 3 months. “Release the houuuunds”
  4. The Henry/Show/Bryan feud was awesome because it was the first time they really let Bryan show a personality and the only time in WWE that he acted similar to his dick-ish ROH Title run. I remember losing my shit when he offered Henry a handshake and then did the "too slow" thing and walked away like a little asshole.
  5. I also get this when I say that I think Bryan is possibly the most over wrestler of all time, at least between 2013-2014. People always go like "Ha! Not even close buddy", dismissing it just because we're talking about a recent guy. But I don't think I've ever seen or heard anyone being as over with the crowd as Bryan was during segments like the Wyatt cage match, the title ascension ceremony and pretty much that whole period of 8 months or so leading up to Mania 30.
  6. Bryan is and will probably always be my favourite wrestler of all time. To me, wrestling peaked with WM XXX and nothing will ever top that. Apart from obviously been one of the best in ring performers of all time, I think Bryan's greatest attribute is managing to get anything over, specially dumb stuff that WWE threw his way: Stupid love triangle/wedding thing? Awesome. Throaway team with Kane with cheesy backstage segments? Turn it one of the most over acts in the company eventually making him the hottest wrestler in the world. Elimination Chamber with Santino? Holy shit was it good. His 2005-2008 ROH run is definitely one of the best of all time and features matches that I still revisit to this day against Roderick, Kenta, Morishima, Nigel, Aries and many more. Him diving into Morishima during his entrance and running back to the ring in time for the crowd to sing "IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN" Its still one of the coolest things I've ever seen in wrestling. I was in the crowd at WM 28 and the one person I was looking forward to watch the most was DB. I even had a "YES" sign with me and I had no idea it had caught on so much until I was at the stadium. Obviously the 18 seconds happened but that was probably the best thing that could've ever happened to his career. Basically, what I'm saying here, is that he's the greatest of all time.
  7. Late to the party, but finally got a chance to watch the show: - Cody and Tony we fine on commentary in a "friends chatting" type of way. But the actual play by play definitely took a hit without Excalibur there, they made quite a few mistakes calling moves. - I hated the shots from the locker room, once or twice is fine but they definitely overdid it. Sasha and Gunn Jr were specially annoying with the ridiculous overselling of it. - I Like Brodie's promo, gave the Dark Order a whole new feel. They now feel a bit more like a crazy comic book mob/cult with a Psycho Joker-like guy leading the way. They also improved his outfit although it could still be much better, get him some pants a size or two up for starters. - Kenny and Guevara had a great match and I'm sure they can have an even better one in front of a hot crowd. Sammy is getting SO GOOD tho, he's always in character and he's a blast to watch. I loved his FU right before Kenny put him out of his misery. - Jericho and Matt was a sight to behold. I loved that they didn't use handheld mics ("Is he using the Britney Mic?") and Jericho is just the perfect guy to play off Matt right now. He takes it the right amount of serious but also plays along with the silliness enough to make it incredibly entertaining. I like Matt's gimmick because you can either play into the whole ancient spirit thing with him or see him as just a crazy delusional guy that would be shouting in the streets and either way works.
  8. Luchasaurus just has that Ultraman look to his moves, he's doing these very athletic things but feels like he weights a ton so he looks like he's slightly moving in slow motion.
  9. Some random thoughts from the show: Cody vs. Ortiz - It was weird how little reaction from the commentators there was to Lance Archer walking out, the crowd was going crazy but JR and Tony were like "yep there's that client, yep". Underwhelming. Jake and Archer do look pretty good together, Jake's evil smirk is great. - So Cody is feuding with Jake/Archer, MJF and Inner Cirlce at the same time. I love how feuds are not contained in a bubble in AEW, feels more like a real and developed "universe". - I feel Santana has the look and potential to be a singles star, but Ortiz is so silly and fun to watch. It's a bit of a Jay/Mark Briscoe situation. Women's Tag - Shida ? - I love that she's over huge with the crowds now, she's been the best woman in AEW for a long while IMO. - Statlander's Michinoku Driver and Shida's Falcon Arrow are some of my favorite moves in the company. - Lots of physicality in this match, the crowd was way into it. I wish Shida didn't get pinned as she's next in line for a shot in theory. - Bea is great, I wish she would stick around more, she really seems to "get ii". - I'm not the biggest fan on Nyla but she has been in some pretty good matches when surrounded with good talent like Riho and Shida. JR made a good point, she's not the best but she's still winning due to being so much bigger and stronger which makes sense. Trios Matches - Jungle Jack was on point tonight. - Holy shit the Lucha Bros' music is not as annoying now. - The crowd liked the match but it should have been quick squash to establish the Death Triangle as a murder-death-kill stable. Main Event - Jericho has been looking in pretty good shape for the past couple of weeks. - I love how aggressive Hangman is to his tag team partners before tagging them. - Great main event, with Page booting and lariating people for my pleasure. Everyone delivered. - Kenny throwing punches with his broken hand like he's The Undertaker out there. - Ortiz getting revenge on Cody by suplexing him on the ramp, Matt saving Page but then flipping him off. So many little touches in this intertwined story lines, some major and some small, I love it.
  10. I'm gonna miss Jericho's promos so much when he takes time off, he adds an element of fun, silliness and self awareness to the main event scene which I'm not sure anyone else can match at the moment. Jake's promo was intriguing, I think Brodie/Harper would be a nice "client" for him NOOBODY IS SEFF! Death Triangle vs Inner Circle, book it! PAC and Lucha Bros might seem like a random team but it makes sense in that all are considered some of the best talent in the company but are somehow overlooked/ignored for the bigger storylines. Hangman's casually walking down to save his "friends" was great. AEW needs more smoke and flames during entrance instead of always using fireworks. Darby would look bad ass skating out of a wall of smoke (ala Edge) and Booker T-like fire would work with someone like Page. Loved Sammy doing a most muscular whilst Jericho does his "Cmon baby!" pin. Look like a boy mimicking his dad. Shield power bomb and fist pump turned into the middle fingers was great. Overall not my favorite episode but still a good "cool down" show to restart after the PPV.
  11. I thought he sold the back pain very well. Go to right before he picks Page up for the Meltzer Driver on the ramp and he's moving exactly how someone with lower back pain would be moving, working through the pain (see HBK at WM 14).
  12. Misc thoughts from the show: Nice looking stage and I really liked those bracelets the fans had. Pretty unique visual how they matched the colours of the entrances and video packages. Hager-Dustin was ok, would have been better being 5Min shorter with more intensity. I think Darby-Sammy should have opened the show instead of this. I love how Darby gets mini short films before his entrance depending on his opponents. That lionsault onto the board was impressive. HOLY SHIT at the 630 to the table, absolutely amazing spot. Damn this match was good, Sammy really amped up the intensity and assholeness for this, but both were just killing it out there. This felt like two young guys going to war and just trying to steal the show, loved every second of it. Future stars right here. The tag match was just beautiful. The Bucks being the assholes (with Matt being the worst) but both them and Kenny sometimes questioning what they were doing, just great stuff. Page doing Kenny's finisher for him is one of the most wholesome moments I've seen in the middle of a crazy match. Also loved him being possessed by Marty for a moment. OC's Titantron and half assed pyro is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Awesome match with Pac with a molten crowd as expected. When Orange picks up his first singles win the arena is going to explode.
  13. - Cool new gear for Kenny, he's worn the same tights for almost every AEW show till now. Felt like a big NJPW match with The Bucks outside the ring. One thought I had while watching this match: these two guys are SO good at what they do. Perfect execution, every single move looked crisp, nothing looked botched. Almost like watching a video game match where all the animations are perfect. It was just impressive how good they both are at their jobs. Kenny being dizzy and begging PAC not to dive on him before the pin was a great touch, much better than just laying motionless. I like that we only got 1 pin and 1 DQ during the match. I always think it's silly when 30min Ironman matches end in something like 3-2 because you would never get so many decisions between two guys like these in a normal 30min match. - OC with bunny ears getting the biggest pop of the night, I love pro wrestling. Butcher and the Blade are total jobbers tho. - Shida Yuka is just hilarious, she has so much personality. Loved Goku's and Storm's inspired outfits in this match. - "For the love of god, give me a lower third this week even if its just for one frame" Page biting his tongue and acting annoyed at what Kenny and the Bucks says is so well done and completely relatable. Such a good storyline, Page is clearly in the right here, he only ever wanted some space from the guys. - Loved Team Jericho coming out in the end, hilarious. Mox was MOLTEN after the Kenny match but im not sure if he's the one that should dethrone Jericho now. I'd rather have Jericho as champ for another 3-4 months before the next PPV.
  14. Plus, even iFenix dialed down to 50% would still be a crazy performer.
  15. Darby, Sammy, Jungle Boy and MJF all look like the obvious next batch of main eventers in a few years. Darby and MJF are already toying with that level. Kip Sabian has a good look and cockiness but needs to get his shit together to really move on to the next level. And let's not forget that Hangman's only 28 too. Hell, Santana and Fenix are under 30 too and I can see those guys potentially being serious single stars down the line too.
  16. At least you can play it back in slow mo on Youtube: But yeah, streaming services, specially sports/fighting based ones like Fite TV should have some sort of slow motion or frame by frame option.
  17. My dad doesn't watch wrestling at all, but he's been sitting next to me a few times I've been watching Dynamite or Dark and the only time he stops what he's doing to actually watch is whenever OC is on screen, he just finds him hilarious and is be the only guy that He remember week to week. The only other comment he seems to have is that the tiny Japanese girl couldn't beat anyone on the show.
  18. Thoughts from the show: - Pretty good Battle Royal after the initial couple of minutes when there's always too many people in. Great finishing sequence by Matt, it was performed perfectly. That Superkick on Sammy has to be THE best Benjamin/HBK Superkick spot I've ever seen. - Loved Jericho's "OOOH" face when Cobb lifted Moxley during a pin. The finish was good, it makes sense that Cobb would get caught in a surprise pin like that due to his thick frame, but I think he should have looked more dominant during the match before it. Darby blocking Jericho's punch and then Hager's nut kick with the skateboard in one smooth sequence was slick af. - That tag match was AWESOME, absolutely loved it, Kenny and Hangman have been killing it lately. Every single punch, kick and move thrown had so much impact, I loved the physicality of it. It was so fast paced that Pentagon didn't get a chance to spam his Cero Miedo taunt which always annoys the hell out of me. I'm disappointed that the Page/Omega team is probably just a one time thing for this storyline and theyll go back to being single starts afterwards because they are honestly so good together. Como se dice Yeehaw??? - The figures look great, I specially like that Kenny's is a lot more ripped and vascular than the others instead of everyone having the exact same generic body. - The cage match was great although it looks a bit unsafe with that weird not-too-small/not-too-big gap around the ring, looks like it could lead to some awkward landings and potential injuries. Wardlow looked great in defeat, he took a very definite loss to Cody but looked VERY dominant during the match so I think he came off better than Cobb tonight. Such a good string of shows lately, AEW seems on a roll right now, can't wait for next week!
  19. Random thoughts: - Overall the best episode of Dinamite or in the Top 3. - Thank god the Nightmare Collective is over, but I'm gonna miss Brandi saying Xzibit on commentary. - Holy shit, how over is Page right now? He was getting a much bigger reaction than Omega tonight. I can't get enough of him booting people in the face every show. He should come out of this storyline as a HUGE star and is on his way to be the most popular guy in the company. - Also loved Kenny showing some edge and returning the kick to Scorpio Sky instead of being the classic nice Kenny he always is. This was an excellent match and much better than the title change in the cruise. Perfect pace. - That DVD from the top by Nyla was beautiful. - I loved then Excalibur said you could buy an eye-patch on their website and JR and Tony were like "wtf seriously?". Meeeeerch Freaaaaaak.
  20. Please no one ruin this Page thing, the guy is getting massively over and it’s by far the best thing they have going at the moment IMO.
  21. One of my favourite things every week:
  22. Misc thoughts from the show: - The whole show just felt so much better than last week. Apart from the women’s match the pacing of everything was excellent from top to bottom. Loved the retro Miami Vice like theme to the event. - Loved the opening tag, watched it twice. Perfect spot fest and the slow build up to whatever is gonna happen with Page (AKA Anxious Millennial Cowboy) has been done so we'll in the ring with Kenny and the Bucks and in his little backstage drunken rants with other teams. Page has been doing some great stuff in this role. “I'll whoop your asses" - Nightmare Collective keeps easily being the worst part of the show. I hope them losing clean means they might try fading them out if they really "listen to their fans", which to be fair they did with Brit. - Guevara looked great against Moxley. I think the future looks bright with the very young potential stars they have in their hands with Sammy, Darby, Jungle Jack and MJF. - DDP looked good, I'm happy he wrestled in his gear, I'm always disappointed when legends come back and wrestle in shirts and shorts. - Pac vs. Darby was so so good, both good brought it and Pac's brutality perfectly complemented Darby cat like moves. Just great wrestling. That powerbomb on the steps was sick. "Right in the popcorn!"
  23. I'm making my way through the show now but Brandi calling Excalibur, Xzibit was hilarious.
  24. Did we at least win the key demos Kenny??
  25. Thoughts from the show: - Liked the new set with the bigger screen, looks cleaner. I prefer if they kept the big ramp for PPV or special shows but I don't mind if it becomes standard just to look a bit different from WWE. - Opener was the best match of the night, everyone looked great. Ortiz's "SUCK MY BIG CO..." while running towards one of the YB got a big laugh from me (and the crowd). - Trent and Fenix was pretty good. I liked the aftermatch with Trent asking for a handshake, Fenix being an asshole and Trent taking no shit, looked good. - I loved the stupid "That's Adam Cole's girlfriend!" bit, i'm sure everyone involved got a good laugh out of that. This was one of the most effective Nyla's squashes so far, short and to the point. - Jericho's segment was glorious as always. He perfectly lets the crowd cheer the list for a second before putting them down. - Shida ?. - I like that they are featuring Shanna and Statlander because they are quite good. The women's division is really starting to pick up after they stopped focusing on Brit. Didn't care for Brandi's bit and it does feel like there's too many dark cults going on. - Pentagon and Daniels was kind of boring. I would have skipped this match and use the 10 min to air a couple of promos or updates of other guys not featured on the show like MJF, Omega, Page, etc.
