  1. Aja Kong had a good hardcore match with Dash Chisako at Korakuen on the 5th for Sendai Girls. Aja took two bumps through tables, a double footstomp off the stage onto a table and brought nice violence. It was at Korakuen, so the video should show up somewhere. It really surprised me because two days earlier in Ice Ribbon she was in a tag, did her spots and got out, and looked like she was having a heart attack after tagging out.

Hitting up some of the OGs restaurant/snacks on this trip. I was at a special Bull Nakano night at Kyoko's Akayu, ate at Genki Misae's Izakaya Never Give Up, and drank at Hotta's Hearts 82. I'm planning one more night in Musahikoyama to go to Akayu and hopefully Noriyo Tateno's GOHAN is open. I was too tired to go to Natsu Bar on Sunday night. Went back to the hotel to watch Hanshin win instead. Natsu's not an OG yet anyway.

I think you're on point with this. Along the same lines, and I could be wrong, but my impression is that some of the recent visual changes to the shows like the new LED stages, graphics packages, and things like that are because of WWE establishing a certain presentation, to a degree. I see talk from a segment of fans of that generation who feel that anything that doesn't resemble WWE looks low-rent.

With each blast of pyro I think "wasting money, wasting money". My generation thinks that anything other than Bruno coming out of the darkened MSG tunnel is fake cartoon wrestling.

  3. Watching Lou Albano and The Grand Wizard of Wrestling talk every week got me hooked on wrestling.

Florida TV gave me a style of wrestling and TV program that I enjoyed.

Finding the Japanese video rental stores in NJ/NY changed everything and led to 30+ trips to Japan.

Going to a few Goodheart shows led to going to tons of ECW from Cabrini college on.

Announced attendance in any sport has always been paid and not turnstile.  And that gap is almost certainly a mix of secondary market and unused comps/corporate box tickets.

Some years back in MLB, the American League used one and the National League used the other.

Dammit, I wish I had that version. Those aren't even on my copy of the Get Drunk and Fuck/Ian Mackaye comp that I got recently.

Note to those unfamiliar with Poison Idea: that album cover is them being disingenuous because the collection pictured is in fact the late guitarist's (RIP thee Pig Champion). I love that it's full of rarities and even a double of Manson's LIE record. To look at that as a punk aficionado is to just start drooling; the whole pile is worth beaucoup bucks today. Shit... Tom probably kept it all, I wonder who owns it now?

My Pick Your King is blue cover, black vinyl. The first pressing, but was released second. Got it for 2 or 3 bucks, probably at a show. I'm old.

I couldn't help but to respond to the Record Collectors post with some pretentious record collector stuff about mine.😀

Finally, good lord. I've been talking about this for five years.

The current version of New Japan World looks like it was built for a 2005 audience that just discovered ROH and TNA for the first time.

Or built for a senior citizen like me. I don't really understand and have never used whatever these improvements are. I go to the website and plug my laptop into the TV with a 10 foot long cord to watch.

  7. I drank before and/or at Minor Threat shows. It was no big deal to do that in NY. I am in no way straight edge. I'm a homebrewer.

I thought that the SHARPs were cool, but figured out that most of them just wanted to fight people and if they fought the WP skins people would be OK with it.

Was Earth Crisis the last show at MCCC? I remember that my final trip there was for a cancelled show with a sign saying no more shows. IIRC I saw Token Entry, The Meatmen, and Government Issue there at various shows.

It was weird when SxE got popular in NY. Seeing Raybeez pretend to be straight edge was comical. Crowds were full of goons by then.

Punk should have a beer and learn to relax.

  8. I didn't notice that Dump had a masked helper. The usual one is Sasori/Fuji. ZAP was ZAP T (Tomoko Watanabe).

I loved the main event so much. I was at the Nana Momo final on 1.4.2005 and the Momo final on 1.7.2005. Jaguar even sold, hit hard, and let them have the spotlight when the match was over.

Jaguar even does her talento schtick with her husband in semi-public. She came to Kyoko's bar one time when I was there. Within 15 minutes she yelled at him and slapped him on top of the head. She is "on" in that kind of situation. She asked me if I wanted a picture with her before I could ask her.

Sue made it! I’m still think a Sue action figure with a minivan would sell.

Also if WrestleDream is an Inoki tribute PPV whose wrestling the 7 foot karate champion in a WWF Martial Arts Championship defense?

Satnam Singh will be playing the 7 ft. karate guy.
