  1. I feel like people should be less surprised about that raid date as I want to say they hinted towards it before. I think the final campaign mission won't even launch until the raid is done so there was no chance in hell of them waiting two weekends.

Did Whisper solo last night. I think I had a minute or two left on the timer when I was done. I probably would have finished faster had I not been stupid and freed all of the bosses at once like a cocky dumbass. Its nice to finally have it done. Was never able to finish the original since every death kicked you out. Went ahead and rand through some of it again to get the currently available oracles. Now I just need to do a legend run which I'm definitely looking for a fireteam for.

I also finally used Whisper for the time. I like it and kind of feel dumb for never really trying it until now.

Finished it. Fucking loved it. More than that, holy shit, my hypothesis was right!!!

I don’t ever remember it being spelled out in the games, but I had long suspected that Vault Tec was behind the end of the world just because so many of the vaults were setup for experimentation and control groups and it can’t be good for your bottom line of the thing you’re selling never has a purpose. The only thing I couldn’t figure out was the how behind it all, like how did the pull it off.

And then in FO4, if memory serves, it makes it sound like the Institute was responsible. Or maybe it was the Enclave. So that put a dent in my hypothesis that Vault Tec started it.

So I was basically flabbergasted when the show confirms that Vault Tec indeed started the Great War. My guess is they got a hold of some weapons here and in China, set them off, made it look like the war was on, and everyone launched their missiles. I was even correct on the why behind it all. I’m sure others had the same idea, but it’s fun to nail a guess every now and then.

Even still, that scene with Coop hearing what was being planned juxtaposed with what Lucy was learning was incredible. And sad.

    Spoiler

I don't think FO4 ever presented a theory. The Institute was definitely not a possibility as it didn't exist until post bombs drop. From my understanding the games have always presented multiple theories with the Enclave, Vault Tec, Aliens, China shot first, etc. all being possible. Its looking more and more like some combo of the first two made it happen as the show hinted that the Enclave are the ones in charge of the main vault overseeing all of the vaults based on comments from Emerson's character. They are also likely the ones hiding in the shadows as the big businesses discuss sharing the vaults.

  3. Todd Howard did confirm certain events actually are post New Vegas so the game is still canon.

    Spoiler

Shady Sands was bombed not long after the events New Vegas occurred. Will be interesting to see how bad the NCR has actually fallen since they were spread out thin and had a lot of shit that could have easily led to their downfall mentioned within New Vegas. I just hope next season we get a Danny Trejo as Raul cameo.

Things have cooled down between him and the Crush Gals, but he had a major problem with Chigusa Nagayo for a loooooooong time. Things were better between him and Lioness Asuka for a couple of years in the early-2000s, and she even booked for Arsion for a few months, but they fell out again shortly thereafter. Rossy takes credit for the Crush Gals' success when he was nothing more than an errand runner for them; Fumi Saito touts Rossy's version of things.

Rossy and Chigusa have been good for a over a decade now. Never heard the Crush Gals claim. Was he even booker in AJW when the Crush Gals were at their height?

Rossy and Manami Toyota also do not get along, but I don't recall what the basis of that was. Same with Kyoko Inoue.

He and Toyota were fine until Bea Priestly/Blair Davenport started using Toyota's finisher. Toyota was pissy about it because she felt only people she bequeathed the move to should use it. She got mocked for her reaction by fans and wrestlers.

Rossy and Kyoko Inoue were fine with each other last time I checked.

  5. Dijak/Dar was good. Was glad to see Dar pick up the victory. Curious if this is a turn for Dijak as the crowd were all in behind him here..

Sol/Lola was a nice showcase for Sol. Lola did fine but didn't show off as much. The finish and post match worked well enough as setups for Sol/Blair II and Nattie/Lola NXT Underground.

    Ridge/Wilde was solid.

The Family/NQCC segment was alright but lasted a bit too long.

Ilja/Evans was good and a damn fine showcase for Evans. Evans is going to be a star if his personality/character can manage to even be half as interesting as his ring work.

Was nice to see Thea and Chase finally bury the hatchet. Also dug Tatum's promo vid explaining her devotion really being the Women's title itself opposed to the holder. Thea/Tatum was pretty decent while it lasted. The Jacy interference was expected. The post match attack by Lyra slightly less so. Enjoyed Roxanne's backstage interview setting up the triple threat next week.

AoP vs. Enofe/Blade was a good semi-competitive slaughter. The Authors are still great a monster hosses, and Enofe/Blade were perfect counters to them stylistically and personality wise.

Ivar/Briggs was decent, but I'm not sure it was a necessary match. Feels like they haven't been going the right direction with Briggs's character since he went solo. I rarely find myself or the audience ever really rooting for him.

Trick/Solo was good though I dug their Stand & Deliver match more. Will be interesting to see if this is the end of hayes in NXT with the Draft coming up.

Could have been stronger match and segment wise though there was some worthwhile stuff here like Dijak/Dar, Trick/Hayes II, Thea/Chase reconciliation, etc. Overall this felt like a solid enough episode for building up the coming Spring Breakout shows.

Since Hunter took over ... damn almost 20 months ago now...   is Rhea the first truly story altering major injury he's had to deal with?  Cause I can't imagine she was going to lose the title to Liv almost immediately after her triumphant Mania match. Now I can't see anyone else winning it, barring someone huge returning.

Also, supposedly Becky hasn't signed her extension.  Which makes me think that Mania match could have been a soft farewell while she goes to AEW or Japan for a while for a *much* needed freshening up.  But then again, she may just re-sign now that Rhea's sidelined for however long.

CM Punk was the first. I don't think they really knew what they were doing with Rhea as far as her title reign goes. Her injury is probably more damaging to Judgement Day plans than the women's title direction.

  7. Rhea having to vacate the belt sucked, but I did enjoy them tying it into Liv's attack from last week along with Liv's later backstage interview. Not sure they really go with a Liv heel turn, but I'm definitely curious to see how things shake out. I assume Rhea comes back no sooner than Summerslam since they had her vacate.

Sheamus/Ivar was pretty solid as expected. Nice return for Sheamus. Dug the post match celebration with Pat and Cole.

The presentation of the new tag titles to Awesome Truth was fun. You could tell having an idea of what was to come HHH still wasn't sure what words would eventually come out of Truth's mouth. He clearly had to hide his chuckling a couple of times. Was nice to see this lead into the DIY vs. New Day vs. Creeds. The match was good, and I'm pleased DIY came out on top.

Ivy/Maxxine vs. Indi/Candace was surprisingly decent. Maxxine is slowly improving. Was nice to see Indi finally make her choice in wanting to be a horrible winner or kind hearted loser.

Andrade/Dom was solid though it felt like it could have been stronger. Post match attack was expected, but it was nice to see Ricochet make the save. Was also nice to see him do it without his music.

KC Squared vs. Chelsea/Piper was alright.

Nia Jax's promo as solid and felt like a hint of Jade or someone new potentially being moved over to Raw.

Cody's promo was alright. Dug that it led into Jey/Finn which was a pretty solid match. The post match beating leading to Jey's escape and catching up with Sami was neat. Loved Sami's entrance through building and hyping up the crowd the whole time. Sami/Gable was a damn good match. Gable's heel turn post match was unsurprising, but I loved how they did it as gave a false sense that it maybe wasn't going down. that final shot with Gable having Sami in the ankle lock was perfect.

The matches were generally solid, but it was the triple threat tag and Sami/Gable that really stood out as something worthwhile here. Rhea dropping the belt sucks on many levels, but this also feels like a good chance for them to reset the division a bit. Rhea was almost too strong as champ, and they really never figured out how to raise many of the other women's profile due to Rhea's heel-face status messing things up. I think only Nia really got much out of it. Feels like now they have a shot to realign things. Still not sure if anyone else can really build themselves up to the next level without some sort of character change. Will be interesting to see. The entire sequence from Cody's promo to the end of the show was kind of amazing with the matches and segments bleeding into each other perfectly from story connectivity point. HHH has been doing a nice job of this, but the production changes in particular add so much more and make it all feel more alive. The episode was solid even before all of that, but that final hour carried it to something good.

  8. AWG stuff sounds like a mess, Marigold or not. The departures to Marigold does seem to give Rossy more of a solid foundation than he had when he started Stardom in 2010/11.

Still feels weird to see Rossy, Fuka, and Nanae all together again to started a new promotion.

  9. Sad about Lower Decks ending, but it also felt like that was coming soon regardless.

Very happy to see Strange New Worlds renewed. That has been the best of new Trek by far though I still hope we get a post-Picard series following Seven and Jack Crusher at some point.

3 episodes into Discovery's final season and its fine so far. Not big on the major story path this season as it feels like something that was ignored for good reason, but the stuff beside it focused on characters is solid.

I mean they are involved and lobbying for Magneto to be their president/king and he asked for Rogue to be his queen in exchange.

    Spoiler

Yes, but that is clearly after Shaw and Frost have already been involved in the government. The X-men clearly had no say before then and weren't likely to try and argue over it now, especially Magneto who hasn't necessarily been at odds with the group.

OK but the leader of the X-Men was there, and a person with memories of the Hellfire Club and no one batted at an eye?

    Spoiler

I doubt they were happy with it, but the X-men don't run Genosha and likely weren't involved in the process that saw Shaw and Frost put in such high positions in the first place.

What did the show do with regard to New Vegas?

    Spoiler

Shady Sands was nuked in 2277 and seemingly led to the downfall of the NCR. Actually it seems like the NCR never really spread far even before then. It basically de-canonized New Vegas if the show is considered canon.

I was confused why Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost were not only in Genosha but allowed to have roles in the governing council. Maybe Frost turned over a new leaf after the Apocalypse incident, but Shaw weaseling his way in there didn't compute. Both were major red flags considering their roles in the Dark Phoenix Saga.

    Spoiler

Guessing its been a few years since that incident in the show, and their involvement is realistically probably not well known by anyone but the X-men. The Hellfire Club is a group of mutants with power and influence in literally every way. It makes sense they would take up leadership if given the chance. In general though that council felt like a bit of a shout to the Krakoan era that just ended.

  14. Opening Cody promo was fine and thankfully not super long.

Knight vs. Lashley vs. Escobar was solid and fun even with the expected interference.

Loved the Bloodline segment. Solo making his move with Tama's debut was great. The fear Heyman showed as it all went down was just perfection. Will be fun to see where this all leads. Is Solo trying to be the new Tribal Chief? Has the Rock taken over? Does Jacob Fatu join? Or maybe we Umaga/Jamal's son debut? Curious to see if they actually elevate Solo to world title challenger.

Bron/Grimes was a quick serviable squash.

Bayley segment served as a solid lead into Naomi/Tiffany. Was nice to see the two get more time together and pace themselves for something good. This was a good way to put over Naomi a bit more and leave the door open for a rematch for Tiffany with the flash pin. Looking forward to Naomi/Bayley next week. Its match I don't actually recall happening before even though I'm sure it has a few times.

Chelsea/Piper vs. Bianca/Jade was another quick squash to put over Jade.

Rey vs. KO vs. Styles was good and the superior triple threat from tonight. Loved the double german suplex and finish with the Styles Clash. Both were so perfect.

The matches that go time were good and worth checking out while the Bloodline segment felt like a big step forward to a potential new gen of the group starting. Stuff like that and bits of promos and segments building to future title matches made for a pretty solid show.

  15. I did a second successful 50 waves on regular last night. It went much smoother than my first and was just a couple of minutes over an hour. Time passed so quickly I hadn't realized it went that long till I saw the timer just before the final boss fight.

Will say the attunement deal doesn't feel like its working right. Its supposed to be 50% drop rates from Onslaught and emblems with Shaxx, but it seemed more like 30% when I tried it with Hung Jury. I only found 3 while I got probably 8 or more of the other other weapons. Can't complain too much since I found some good Recluse rolls though i have still yet to find a Master-At-Arms roll.

Also, Will Ospreay's the same guy who got a sexual abuse victim blackballed for trying to stick up for herself because said abuser was his buddy, so I have a hard time feeling bad for him.

It came out a few years ago that Osprey wasn't the one behind the blackballing though he was still an asshole about the situation.

Sliiiiight nitpick regarding Boyd Crowder being evil.

I would say Boyd isn’t evil. He fell in with the wrong crowd with all of the Neo Nazi stuff, but then he cast all of that aside, which was one of Walton Goggins’ requests to keep doing the role - he didn’t want to be a racist Nazi. Now, I will say that Boyd was an outlaw and he and Raylan were two sides of the same coin. But him being an outlaw doesn’t necessarily mean he’s evil even if he killed people. I’m sure folks will disagree with that assessment, but after watching Justified 3 times through, I don’t really get the sense that Boyd is evil.

And I don’t really think the Ghoul is either.

Evil might be too strong a word but was the one I chose because I think Boyd's acts and mindset go beyond just being a bad person. I don't think the Ghoul is evil, just a complete cold bastard doing what he can to survive and achieve his goals. Some of his acts are absolutely cruel though also still play into his own survival and are arguably within reason in the Wasteland despite the cruelty.

  18. Finished the show. I have somewhat mixed feelings on it though overall its really good. It captures the games kind of perfectly including a side quest or two and does well with character building for the most part. The weakest part is probably related to the Moldaver character who it feels like we never really got a full picture of.

    Spoiler

It was especially weird how we never found out how she stayed alive for so long. It also would have been nice to see how Hank managed to nuke Shady Sands as the 31-33 Vaults didn't seem capable of nuclear weapons. Honestly, some of that finale felt rushed in that respect as there were necessary details missing.

The portrayal of the Brotherhood was interesting. It feels darker, but it also makes sense in a way as I have trouble seeing so all of the West Coast be so positive about the changes Maxson brought. Maximus and co. in particular noticeably lacked the discipline & training we see on the East Coast in the games.

Goggins's Ghoul is one of the highlights. He is an incredible bastard even compared to Boyd Crowder yet is probably still less evil. That man chews scenery every time he is on the screen be it as a ghoul or even before the bombs dropped despite being less intense.

The two biggest aspects give me mixed feelings despite being rather good are the following:

    Spoiler

I dislike that they seem to confirm not only Vault-Tec but all of the other major companies along with them as being behind the bombs dropping. I like it as one of many random theories, but I'm in the group that prefers no confirmation be it the Zetans, the Enclave, Vault-Tec, etc. If they ever did I kind of hope its somehow all of them at once.

My other issue is of course related to the New Vegas.

    Spoiler

There was absolutely zero reason to de-canonize it here. They could have easily pulled the same story and had it take place post New Vegas. Damn near nothing would have changed as the game hinted at the NCR's likely death in several instances. That was either spite, incompetent indifference, or the hopeful third option where the show isn't technically canon. Want to say they have actually been coy on that for a while now. Not sure they ever confirmed it would be for sure. Whatever the case I still think it was a bad idea to not just have the Shady Sands bombing occur later. All they have done is unnecessarily piss off New Vegas fans.

Even with mixed feelings I really dug the hell out of the show. I'm curious to see where things head in S2 as there is plenty more to explore.

  19. I get the feeling Marathon and Destiny aren't sharing much in the way of resources as far as people go. The feeling I have gotten from what little has been said of Marathon on the dev side is that the people who went over to it essentially were tired of/done with Destiny. I don't fathom them wanting to return. If Marathon flops its more likely we see more releases opposed to most of the team moving over to Destiny, be it 2 or 3.

  20. Limitations makes sense as it means people just might actually still use the older subclasses as well.

Made it through all 50 waves of Onslaught finally. GIves a pretty good amount of loot like the Coil though just like the Coil it can take forever if you don't have a good loadout or team. Took me 90 damn minutes. I do have all 6 weapons from week 1 now. Shockingly my first two rolls on the sword are essentially the god rolls, including a random curated roll. That of course means the one I got from Shaxx afterward sucked.
