  1. As far as I'm aware, only two matches (and rwo segments) have been announced: Sammy vs Scorpio Title vs Streak match Legit Leyla vs Thunder Rosa Winner Subsequently Beats DMD For the Belt in a Cage match Chris Jericho "addresses" Eddie Kingston The very pretty blonde MMA lady signs her AEW contract, presumably including Dan Lambert somehow upsetting all of the pro wrestling grandpas by speaking on their behalf (which is a thing that I still find consistently entertaining). Lots of room for us to ask for some other nice treat of a match to fill out the show! Although, really, I am kinda full already. Hot damn that was one great PPV. Plus: Have you seen Ishii vs Shngo from night 2 of the New Japan Cup yet? This really has been a great week for fans of harrowingly stiff professional wrestling (like me. i am a fan of that). Also: Am I the only one who sets themself up with "snacks" for Dynamite? I can't possibly be! I picked up 2 microwavable soups from 7-11 on my way home from work. Miso with pork and veg, and Korean style ginseng chicken soup. Japanese convenience stores are incredible! I also have some nice brown-spotted bananas and a couple of smoked chicken breasts. And a discount sports drink called Jungle Man. i guess we'll get some fallout from the PPV and maybe the start of some new programs building to the next big card. I wonder if Swerve will wrestle. What do all y'all wanna see? EDIT: Reportedly, we'll be getting something new from Matt Hardy as well. Some are speculating about, maybe, Jeff showing up.
  2. My understanding (which may not be correct, and is mainly based on conversations with friends who were affected by it) is that YouTube demonetized several wrestling channels BECAUSE certain intergender matches (like, say, John Silver vs Jordynne Grace) were getting a hundred million plus views. Furthermore, they were getting so many views because they serve as a kind of ersatz fetish porn in certain highly-populated areas of the world where access to actual internet porn is tightly controlled by the government. A quick internet search confirms that a ton of smaller wrestling channels (and several gaming, music, and animation channels of various sizes) were sweepingly demonetized in 2017. The impetus for that was several important YouTube advertisers being very unhappy indeed that their ads were showing up on channels devoted to hate speech, which led to sweeping changes in YouTubes ad revenue policies. The conspiracy theory is that YouTube used that crisis as an opportunity to de-fund smaller sites that were making too much money, by marking the channels for "objectionable" or "re-used" content. Also, as far back as the summer of 2017, some smaller wrestling sites were reportedly able to get their monetization restored by YouTube. Pretty interesting rabbit hole you sent me down, there! Almost 26.5 million views! Over 115 million views!! Perhaps worth pointing out, perhaps not: A further conspiracy theory is that certain less than fully scrupulous promoters maaaay have killed the golden goose by using view bots to crank numbers even higher once they realised that certain videos were getting absurd numbers of hits. I am 100 percent certainly not trying to implicate Beyond Wrestling or any other promotion, specifically. It's just something else I have heard related to this bizarre corner of pro wrestling discourse. And, since we are debating the merits of intergender pro wrestling: Kana booked a series of harrowingly violent intergender matches in her own promotion. I'll post a link instead of a video because this is definitely not for the squeamish. Nobody holds back in this one, at all, and it might actually make some people HATE Fujiwara. KANA and Suzuki vs Syuri and Fujiwara: https://dai.ly/x2yae5t
  3. I managed to avoid spoilers. Glad I was able to. Not too often that five hours fly by like that. Enjoyed the hell out of that show! AEW keeps knocking it out of the park. They exceed my very high expectations. Jericho and Kingston going full 90s All Japan was probably my MOTN, which is really saying something considering Mox vs Dragon and MJF vs Punk both exceeded what I was hoping for. Regal slapping some sense into Moxley and Danielson was my mark-out moment of the night. Also really saying something considering that Sting spot, Punk's entrance, Punk and Mox's crimson masks... So much variety on this show. So many different kinds of great and/or exciting pro wrestling. A nice birthday treat for our boy Paul!
  4. For all of the joy you spread. For the happy memories you have created for all of us. For the good times. Yes, for the frustrations also. Happy 50th anniversary, New Japan Pro Wrestling!!
  5. He was also Strong Machine #2 (Riki Bassan). I think he's Korean. That's all I have got.
  6. Presumably thanks to "Uncle Tony" there are now a bunch of ROH TV shows up on the FITE app. Free, with commercials (for Car Shield). Just had time to watch the first half of the American Dragon HOF episode. They show a complete match, vs KENTA! Dang, that was a hard-hitting, fast, and exciting bout! Who knows? We might get to see them face off again in the G1, or in AEW, some day. It would be interesting to see how they wrestle each other today, compared to back then. It looks like they also show a full Nigel match in the second half of the show. I'm interested if other people have found this on FITE. I'd like to hear recommendations for what to watch next. What a great time to be a wrestling fan!
  7. I loved the contrast between the all-action 3-way and the big man power struggle between Lee and Drake. It's not just Shida returning (which, obviously, ) but HOW she returned. Just furiously attacking. So cool. So apt. I am bummed have to work Monday - I love my job, but that's when the PPV airs here. I will need to avoid spoilers. It's gonna be a good one! Enjoy!!
  8. TNT Title Match: Sammy vs Darby vs Andrade. Oh me. Oh my. This should be very good indeed. Expect some AHFO shenanigans and Sting getting involved to set up the PPV match. Face of the Revolution ladder match qualifier: (Ch) Cage vs (E) Page! On Rampage! (Sadly, not in a cage) (or on a bronze age theatrical stage). It might rage backstage! I want Christian to win and then win the ladder match. Gran'pa power! Oldish guy revolution! Another 5-minute Deeb challenge! I flat out love these. Keith Lee Yeets Some Guy!!! Is it wrong that I am looking forward to this one most of all? I doubt I am alone there. Seems churlish to ask for more... Though, maybe, Hook eating a chip or Kingston on the mic or something? Might be space to toss something like that in.
  9. All In-N-Out. Double Double match. 3X3 and 4X4 matches. Animal Style match. Maybe cross-promote with Cracker Barrel.
  10. I got a little choked up when Dragon and Daniels started their match off with a handshake. That might have been the most coherent and entertaining battle royal(e) that AEW has done. Great return for Darius! The Punk/MJF thing was note perfect. Couldn't have been done better. Punk really tapped a gusher there, as well. Was the Punk vs Raven feud in ROH? I honestly don't remember. If so: This feud might be a good way to get people to sign up for Tony's ROH streaming service, since it definitely harkens back... They did a good job using the tag matches to set up the title matches for the PPV. And maybe to set up Wardlow for a heroic turn at some point during the dog collar match! Anyone not excited for Revolution at this point? Edit: and... we got Bryan fighting, Bryan and Mox jaw-jacking, Bear Country, 2.0, Ass Boys etc in the Casino match, Legit Leyla being angry, Wardlow squashing Bononi (!) Dang... We sure as hell got more from Punk and MJF! I'm gonna keep asking for Big Paul vs Strong Mark, and a Hook gauntlet match...
  11. I'm hoping it's that Mexican death match promotion that does shows in a junk yard ((Zona 23?)
  12. I think this is genuinely everything that's been announced for tonight: Casino Tag Battle Royale. Thunder & Mercedes vs Hayter & DMD? I think? Hangm'n Hungee & Reynolds vs Bay Bay and reDRagon A MASSIVE announcement from Uncle Tony. Seems like this might be a really good show to actually test the "they'll give us what we ask for" theory! So, whaddaya wanna see? Bryan? Kingston! Bryan & Kingston & Mox all bowed up and jaw-jacking? Bear Country vs 2.0? Miro returning? Legit Leyla takes the Deeb challenge? More from MJF and CM Punk? Wingmen vs Ass Boys? Hook in a gauntlet match vs all of QT's students? Mark Henry vs The Big Paul? Is the announcement gonna be about the PPV? The Owen? The West Coast tour? A streaming service? Including ROH and NJPW and GCW and PWG? Is Just Flips gonna haveta eat his own finger? speaking of which: What snacks are you going to have during the show? I've got bananas, yogurt... steamed chicken and chinese pickles with sesame oil... frozen microwavable gyoza, just in case... I am all ready for tomorrow morning.
  13. This is worth a download. It's definitely more fun than their card collection mobile game (which I nonetheless play every day). Strong Spirits (or whateve it's called) is 100 percent your typical mobile game, with too many currencies and some confusing and poorly -explained mechanics and so on... but it's a New Japan version of that, so funzies. You collect wrestlers in this one, too, but you can train them in the dojo and have matches with them, so that's more enjoyable than the collection game. After running a wrestler through the dojo until they fail, you can add them to your 5-man team and the match up vs other five-man teams. I got a three-star Misu so I am happy. The gatcha mechanic is pretty typical. I have got so many one-star Honmas and Makabes, haven't seen a Shingo or a Cobb or an Ishii yet. But:MiSu! (Also, Tana, Naito, Okada... So not too shabby) You get a lot of free "diamonds" early on. Presumably that will dry right up in a week or so. I think maybe the deal will be to keep running your best guys through the dojo roque-like style to level them up and get further in the story. You unlock new mechanics as you progress. No idea what "soul" or "titles" are used for, but I have a couple of each... Edit: also important info: matches play out automatically, you just watch (or skip through) them.
  14. Oh boy, Archer vs Fuego was great! I was hoping Archer wouldn't just toss him down the ramp and into the ring and pin him like he's just another jobber. And, indeed, they gave Fuego a full entrance and then he used speed, guts, and determination to take a tiny bit of the fight to Archer... but Archer still came across 100 percent as a monstrous force who easily absorbed and shook off everything Fuego could throw at him. Damned close to the platonic ideal of what Archer vs Fuego should be. Archer looks like a force of nature and Fuego earns our respect by giving his all in a hopeless cause. And that spot where Archer just punched Fuego out of the air was beautiful.
  15. My new favourite exercise: Sandbag get-ups. I can use them as a finisher even if my shoulders are too fried to do kettlebell TGUs. Fun!
  16. Really really good fast athletic guy vs fast athletic guy match. Really really really (almost surprisingly) good big strong guy vs big strong guy match. Goofy shooty stuff from the Canadian guy ? but Wardlow's deadpan reactions are always great. Deeb being nasty. Nice classic pro wrestling title match set-up (and I think the women's title is the one most likely to change hands at the PPV (followed by, maybe, the tag titles) and I think Rosa would be a great champ). Ladder match qualifier was non-stop fun from the Henry pre-match interview on. A guy I know who was at the show said, a few days ago in a group wrestling chat, "Gordi's gonna love Rampage!" My friend asked him if he meant that (Orange vs Bowens) was an Osaka Pro style comedy match and he said I'd like that one (which I totally did) but that there was also a big man match that he thought would be exactly my cup of tea. Yep. Plus the Rampage preview I found on Thursday didn't list that match, so I didn't even know it would be Wardlow vs Comoroto until I read Andy from Kansas' post this morning, and marked right out. Week in, week out, we keep getting stuff like Danielson vs Garcia and Wardlow vs Comoroto, and, like, according to the guy I know who was at the show: Leyla Hirsch vs Willow Nightingale and Archer vs Fuego... we don't even have to ask for it.
  17. I am already looking forward to seeing Orange Cassidy taking a giant swing, with his sunglasses on, relaxed and enjoying it.
  18. Well... Apparently if we complain on here about not being satisfied with what we're getting, it might very well lead to us getting something very very good indeed (Like for example Dragon vs Garcia). Soooooo... Sammy Guevara(c) vs Andrade El Idolo – AEW TNT Championship Match They've built to this really well and it should be really good, but... uh... probably just gonna be a bunch of AHO shenanigans! Give us more! Serena Deeb 5 minute challenge uh... Less than 5 minutes of Deeb, presumably? Give us more! Orange Cassidy vs Anthony Bowens – Face of the Revolution Qualifier Pretty easy to see what either of these guys would bring to the ladder match, entertainment and excitement-wise but... how about some big guys slapping meat or something? Thunder Rosa and AEW Women’s Champion Doctor Britt Baker DMD Contract Signing Segment The whole build here has been fun, and I'm looking forward to Mercedes running in for the save here... but that's only three matches! Booo! We demand a big men clubbering beefy type hoss fight, too! Let's see how that works.
  19. Howsabout I gives you ten things I liked? 1 - How they just started out with the ring full like an old-school TV Battle Royal, which also serves to make it more distinct from the upcoming Casino one. 2 - Santana mugging right into the camera. 3 - Matt's continuing erratic behaviour. 4 - Bux/FTR face-off and the crowd reaction thereto. 5 - Nick's surprise elimination. 6 - Beretta and Orangey Boy doing a little "Kofi and Big E in the Rumble" tribute. 7 - I can't read my own handwriting here. Yes , I was literally keeping notes, kind of... I think it was something about the Hungee/Tully thing leading to an FTR guy being eliminated, though. That was a good moment. Creative. 8 - Crowd reaction for the Sanatana/Trent face-off!! 9 - "Johnny Hungee" chant! 10 - All of reDRagon's heeling - Fish eliminating Dax, KOR dumping Matt, and then the whole aftermath with Hangm'n. I rate battle royals! (Scott Keith reference). If RR '92 is a ten out of ten, and anything where Andre wins is a nine, that was a solid eight, maybe eight and a quarter. ? Other thoughts: I miss singing along to Makakai's old theme. GNARGGHFARSTTZ!! SPENGRAFFTNDSH!! Evil Penta!! Cool! Wonder if this version will taunt less... Or more? Brody King hitting that "Akeem on HBK" clothesline there! I'm increasingly convinced that some AEW guys really do lurk on here. Or, they just consistently think about the same wrestlenerd stuff that we do. "Malakai has one of the prettiest German suplexes in the world" - message from my frined during this match. Hell yeah! "You're not my guy, Buddy!" - me, to myself, when we got the Kings or Maybe Knights of the Black Throne or Thorne new member reveal. Don't think I have ever seen anyone block the mist before. Very creative finish. I mean, it must have happened somewhere before because there is nothing new under the sun, but I enjoyed that and didn't see it coming. JR gonna JR moment of the night: Buddy clearly has second thoughts, in a way that has to be part of the story being told here, then does it anyway. JR: No remorse! No second thoughts! Buddy, Malakai, King vs Evil Penta, PAC, and Fénix will be amazing. That Jericho promo was definitely stronger stuff than calling someone a square-head. Pretty easy to read between the lines there and be excited for where this is heading, too! Tenryu shout-out! ? TBS title match being heel vs heel didn't really affect the drama of that match. Jade vs Tay should be really fun! Limitless vs Powerhouse, please! Good Lord there is so much to look forward to. Who should be next in the "Dragon has a tekkers match vs a young technical wrestler who owns BattleArts tapes" series? Is the world ready for Dragon vs HOOK? They're both busy with other things, but it kind of has to happen at some point, right? THAT's how you end a pro wrestling TV show! That crowd! Sounded fine on my headphones, particularly the entrance pops. Made everything 20% better in my opinion. Maybe I'm just used to Japanese crowds being quiet while enjoying top-notch tekkers.
  20. Tag Team Battle Royale – “Winner Advances to the AEW World Tag Team Championship to face Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus in a Three-way Match at Revolution” I guess we're all (mostly?) hoping for or at least predicting that the other two teams in the three-way match will be The Young Bucks and reDRagon. I, personally, would also happily accept Bear Country and Chaos Project, but I think that's a less likely outcome. Will we see either of those teams here? Will we see FTR, Santana & Ortiz, Best Friends, Private Party, 2.0, The Butcher & The Blade, MOTY, Ass Boys, Factory, Dark Order, Team Taz, Wingmen?? Does @The Natural want FTR to win? I'm looking forward to finding out! Eddie Kingston & Chris Jericho Face To Face Confrontation Some folks here and elsewhere (not me, but some folks for sure) seem to be getting tired of Chris Jericho's act. Nobody, anywhere, seems to be getting tired of Eddie Kingston in any way. A feud between these two could be just the thing to bring out the best in Jericho, on the mic and in the ring. House of Black vs. PEZM & PAC Will we get to see the next member of The Kings or Maybe Knights of the Black Throne here? Will Fénix make a surprise return? Will we just get a straight-up tag match with ZERO!!! ...shenanigans? Whichever way it goes, I'm down for it. TBS Championship Match: Jade Cargill (c) vs. The Bunny Speaking of shenanigans: It's two heels facing off for a belt! Will that lead to shenanigans? Will The Bunny bring some nasty violence to the TBS Title scene? Will she do that thing where she flirts with the camera and then gnashes her teeth? That was cool.
  21. And I heard that he's kicked GofD out of BC. Maybe to make room for another tag team? Bucks back to BC? Redragon?? Butcher and Blade??? FTR?!?!! It's actually not easy to think of guys from AEW who are unaffiliated heels who might fit in to New Japan and suit the BC cheat to win style. I'd love to see Miro in the G1, but I don't think he needs Gedo interfering in his matches, for example. Dang, pro wrestling is exciting right now. Anything seems possible.
