I used to think Jordan Oliver easily had the most-punchable face in professional wrestling. But the more I see of Will Ospreay.....

At least Oliver knew his face was punchable and has is capable of not being a dork.

Establishing an upper-midcard belt and bringing the TNT title more in line with the WCW Television title is the right move for the long run. Gives the glut of upper-carders something to do and establishes a tier system for the too-large roster. Dumb name, though.

I see this as more like AEW's version of the SWA belt.  I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up the least important of AEW's non-ROH belts.

Scorp looked like he pulled a hammy or his groin in the main event. The men’s side is about to be all interim champs, all the time.

Can always bring out Joe, or have Yuta defend his belt.  Even call in Gresham?

Kidd Bandit. Might be retiring in January.

This one hits me super hard.  I'm a trans veteran, I know both of the big stressors they go through.

Honestly, Bandit was living what seemed to be the life I could have had if I had different luck.  Now I find out it was a monkey's paw.  This one hurts and put me in a bit of a dark place.

Oh he is having way way way more fun than those 2 tweets.  They may have to physically push him back on the plane to Japan if he keeps this up

Just promise him some hololive and you'll get him back.

extra post about House of Black vs the Blondes from last night:

Is the upside of "these babyfaces are so brave that they're calling out dudes who will kick their ass" enough to make up for the downside of "these babyfaces are dumbasses who are calling out dudes who will kick the shit out of them"

Also the brawling part of their exchange was noticeably slow, like they were fighting in a movie.

They've gotten their ass kicked a bunch of times, the fans don't even like the Blondes that much, and they've done nothing to show that the results will be different.  THey're basically dumbasses getting what they deserve.

I am feeling more and more than TK is overextended in booking and the cracks are showing now.

  7. Pillman segment was entirely pointless and a miss.

Main event was just there really.

    Hangman's new theme

Good first hour, still pretty good show overall, but definitely some swing and miss this week.

Good show!  So was the whole thing done to pull a double turn?  Dan Lambert is a face now?

The twist with MJF is he dialed the wrong Morrissey on his phone and next week the guy from The Smiths shows up to get powerbombed.

Never saw Dusty or Tully dress for a streetfight like that.  And thank God.

I figured Dax would win as he's been cemented as the singles wrestler of the duo.  Really good match.  Loved all the callbacks as @The Natural mentioned.

Sammy's flippy out of control dives that are impossible to catch are going to definitely hurt somebody.  He landed on nothing tonight AND it appeared his foot hit Scorpio's head afterward.  Looks like shit and still hurts is a bad combo.

Fireball!  If Jericho's next reinvention is as Paul Jones to Eddie's Boogie Woogie Man, just stooging and showing ass all over, the place, I'm cool with it.

AEW is sneakily moving to lucha tag rules for their multiman matches and that's awesome.

Crowd was insane for Yuta!  Nice.

Deonna Purrazzo!  Swerve everybody and let her keep the belt.

Wardlow hits the running rana and I can hear the Deadlock boys popping from miles away.

Props to Archer for getting way up on those powerbombs better than Butcher did!

Thunder Rosa smiles as she watches a TV sideways!  Noooooooo

    LOOOOOOOOL AEW GALAXY

Don't let Vince see that jacked up pic of Cass.  He'll re-sign him like Test.

I think Lambert is going to betray Sky and we get SCU reunion.  He seemed unhappy about Sky keeping his word with Kaz.

I'm sure that the tech has only gotten better since the Tupac hologram came out a few years back.

I'm just saying, Booker T and Cena already used elements of one iconic Hasbro IP to varying levels of positive effect. Seems like someone should go back to that well.

You really want to give someone a Twilight Sparkle gimmick?

Sorry to snip your reply but I didn't want to multi-quote reply and I did want to at least give you the notification that I replied.

So the current relationships that were in place were sort of hamstrung by Japan's covid restrictions, I think. Japan had one of the stricter re-entry policies, if I remember correctly, where if you came back from anywhere, you had to isolate for (I believe?) 14 days. Now, if you're vaccinated, there is no quarantine as of March 1. So basically, all those relationships that were in place pre-pandemic? They either had to bring people over for significant periods of time to make it worth their while, or be stuck flying over to work a show or two, then be in isolation. For example, Maki Itoh came over to work a week's worth of shows, but it was well-timed because it was during a gap in TJPW's schedule because she only missed one show as a result. TJPW runs so frequently that bringing over the folks they had wasn't really an option on a regular basis, so really... do you scrap that relationship by going "well, it didn't work because of a global pandemic and strict re-entry to your home country" now that those restrictions are lifted? Or do you actually give it a shot now that you can?

As far as me saying AEW doesn't care about women's wrestling... I mean, I've been on record stating the problems I've had with the way they promote it. One match per show. Literally in the cooldown slot almost every show. Sometimes it's just a squash match. If you want to disagree with me on that, that's fine, but they have been using the same booking formula for almost two years now. As someone who almost exclusively watches women's wrestling, I'm quite annoyed by that. It almost feels like they have it on the show because they feel it's good for demographics and because one of the EVPs likes it, but given the choice, they'd rather not. There's occasional anomalies, but on a week-to-week basis, the women are an afterthought.

You can dismiss my opinion and say "well that's just how you feel", but seriously, look over the last couple of years of AEW shows and tell me I shouldn't be a little bit miffed at that as someone who watches for the women.

I literally don't think it matters who gets brought in from other promotions, working a seven minute match through a PIP commercial after a 12+ hour flight and dealing with the politics of who's putting who over isn't exactly appealing.

The thing I've heard is the one match per show was a network request not to have too much women's wrestling.  This is why I'm very intrerested in ROH-AEW and what they do with women, as they won't have that limitation there.  It definitely is annoying and does make the women feel like an afterthought.

Maki also did some US indies I believe while she was over there.  Really want to see a rumored teamup that's supposed to happen next time she comes over here.

Putting Hanger and Jay back together could be dangerous. They had a gonzo match back in 2018. Frightened to think of what they might try to do with higher expectations now.

I'd be fine with Jay taking the belt off of Hangman and then losing to someone else like Mox.  Just to show it can happen.  Jay's not going to hurt the belt's lineage at all.

the scary thing is that I'm 44 and not only know, but have friends that do.  I'm aging backwards.

Apropos of nothing at all, but I didn't realise until today that they're named The Baddies Section because it's TBS.

Hopefully they let fans apply to be part of it.  I have a vtuber friend who is smoking hot who wants to be part of it (she simps for Jade)

Actually, looking it up now he did use the exact font JYD used!  I feel like an idiot because trust me, I was around in the 80's.  Visually it fooled me at first and I still want to believe he was trolling the rednecks in the crowd.  That or I'm too deep into politics......

So now I'm wondering why Trump jacked JYD's style!?

I was disappointed in that match becaue I was expecting it to end up as crazy as the Battle of New Orleans.  I knew TK and Eddie knew about that one.

Overall a great night of wrestling, but given how hot that crowd was for everything they liked, which was like 90% of the show, it’s hard not to focus on how SILENT they were for what they didn’t like.

Everything about that Marina match was bad. I would imagine her glacial pace was supposed to conjure thoughts of some methodical killer, but in reality is just came across as her looking like she didn’t know what she was doing. The less said about the “Baddie Section” the better, though I could totally get behind the idea of Red Velvet and Kiera Hogan as part of Jade’s entourage.

Agree with most here that the Singh debut wouldn’t have been so bad had they not done the lights out gimmick, but even still, dude is going to stick out like a sore thumb on this show and I can’t see any future crowds reacting any differently to him, especially as part of this nothing angle with Lethal and Sonjay.

The baddie section is over with a vtuber friend's discord (they regularly watch AEW and love/Simp for Jade)- though Red Velvet makes no sense there given her feud with Jade.

Singh needs to be in ROH to have any sort of chance.

To reinforce wins and losses mattering, I’m hoping to see Shawn Dean get a TNT title shot on TV soon. Would add more gravitas to these MJF losses.

Scorpio Sky calling Shawn Dean a stand up guy worthy of a title shot would be great.

Funny how just a couple posts ater, someone mentioned The Mountie and Repo Man, 2 wwf guys given new gimmicks.

Did they ever say The Mountie was Jacques Rougeau or was he always just The Mountie?

Early on I think they said he got Mountie training in his time between runs at one point.
