I liked that Swerve and RVD started their match with a counter-argument to the old argument "When RVD throws a chair at you, don't catch it".

As Swerve so considerately demonstrated, if you don't catch the chair, you just get a steel chair bouncing off your face. You haven't really improved your position.

    1) Catch the chair = get the chair kicked in your face

    2) Don't catch the chair = get the chair flying in your face and probably kicked in the face afterwards

    3) Push the chair away = get kicked in the face

This looks like a no-win situation, for sure, unless you duck. And even if you duck, you'll probably end up getting a rolling thunder.

I hate how fast TK always makes matches official. I'm starting to think that he knows beforehand what the wrestlers will throw out.

It's all in the reflexes. Probably just one mouse click away. They must have every possible match combination graphics ready somewhere, though. Those come up super fast as well.

  3. Lots of intersting stuff this week. Jeff Hardy lived to regret the conversation backstage before the match with Mox.

Jeff: Ok, Mox do you have any specific plans for our match tonight?

Mox: I think I'll just play by the ear.

    Jeff: That sounds great.

Hangman vs Toa was fantastic. Another template that I just love (along with PAC vs Claudio/ PAC vs Hangman architypes)

I have to watch Wardlow vs Komander and Jericho vs Fletcher again

Toni's commentary was batshit as usual, Deonna vs Taya was good, the finisher was brutal!

Renee must hate selling her soul like that, with Nicholas and Matthew. Darby is focused on the tag titles, I could see this ending two different ways, but both are different kinds of bad. I think Bucks ending up with the tag titles at Revolution would be the even more bad, but more interesting option. The other is that Bucks screw Sting and Darby out of the tag titles next week.

Bang Bang Scissor Gang is popular for sure, but I have a bad feeling that now two sets of trios titles will be wasted when they could be used to add excitement to lower card young teams facing each other. There's really no reason Top Flight Action shouldn't have one of those right now.

RVD and Swerve with a wonderful main event and unless something goes tits up, as Timeless Toni would say, in next week's match between Swerve and Hangman, we will get ONE top contender for World Title. I'm so glad there is no precedent where they would force an unwanted 3-way as a payoff. What?

Also, HOOK with a chair and a D12 T-shirt. Good for him. A match against Cage is what he needs to bounce back from the Joe loss.

  4. Yes, regular bench today, albeit a bit shorter workout than usual due to work. Started with 12x164, then 7x252, 6x263, 5x269, 3x274, 3x280 (one clean rep and two decent gym bro level), 6x252 and 52 reps with 164 within 4 sets.

Between sets I did some standing double dumbell curls with 26,5's, 31's, 35's and 39,5's. No time for abs.

My union will be on strike for the next two days so that's it for the week.

Looool fucking Scandinavia.  I’ve only been there once but experiencing dusk but still light outside at like 11pm on Aland freaked me out.

That place freaks us out as well, don't worry!

  6. Well, the Trapbar went some parts very good, others not so much.

Started with the deficit lifts 5x255, 2x365, 1x459. At this point I ran into trouble and next lift was 481 off the ground level with Versas. Okay, that sucked, so onto the blocks and straight to 3/4 blocks at that. 2x581,5, 1x654, then off the full blocks 2x749. Shoes on, the 843,5 failed, shoes off, got one. In total, did 4 singles with 843,5, then 3x749, 6x665 and 12x570,5 using rest pause. Then two sets of shrugs with 459 and 359.

I tried to go for a second rep on two of the 843,5 singles but failed both times.

So, some lifts went better than last time, others not as well as last time.

Not sure what I will be doing tomorrow? Bench, maybe?

  7. This week started, as usual, with incline dumbell bench/ hammer curls, instead of Trapbar. 7 sets, between 6 to 9 reps (mostly 8), two sets with seat straight up, three with one notch down and two with two notches down. 7 sets of hammer curls, everything was with a pair of 88's, like it has been for a couple of weeks now. The resistance band lat pull downs and chest flies were also involved, along with some light curls on the incline bench and lateral raises to the side standing up, but using the same light dumbells as with the curls. Moderate ab work for the finish.

I'll stretch my legs and get a meal in and then I'm off to do the Trapbar today.

  8. I remember first reading about Mongolian Mauler in an independent wrestling magazine I bought from a trip to Germany back in 1992. He seemed to travel around the world wrestling in all sorts of places, but it was probably mostly Europe and Japan in addition to US.

Then, I remember the results in PWI seeing he faced Brian Pillman in WCW in '94 and was like "Oh, it's that guy with the black eyes!" Too bad nothing came out of that brief run. I would have probably watched his stuff given a chance.

It's also very weird how the time between summer of '92 and spring of '94 seemed like a really, really long time. From summer of 2022 to a few months from now is just "a few days at work and gym , plus a trip or two." Time is weird.

History is full of people doing good deeds for the wrong reasons. Robber barons building hospitals and universities all the way down to people doing charity work to impress a romantic interest.

Jimmy Saville did a shit-load of charity, all his life, for instance. And he did that to "balance the scales of devine judgment" or something similar, by his own admission.

  10. Seal-Row day with some conventional deadlift thrown in this evening. Skipped the light stuff and went to 264 straight after 154. Then 286 and 3 sets of 303. When coming back down, I did a set with 297 and 286, which went surprisingly well after the 303's, which obviously weren't clean. Then one more set with 264, then onto deadlift. Legit off the floor level, I did singles with 330 and 374,5, then 2x440,5, which is a record, I have only got one a couple times before. Then I  used half blocks for a single with 484,5 (also a record), then one more 440, 375,5 and 330.

    So yeah, that was nice.

Thursday I basically had zero sleep despite all the trying on a few different occasions. No workout tonight. I did get an extra 15 kilometers on the bike today so there's that. I will do Trapbar on Monday, if I feel recovered enough by then.

  11. All 3 title matches were good. Really impressed with Fletcher once again. Fletcher vs Ethan Page should be really solid. Listen up, Fletcher vs Vikingo in a couple of months, OK?

Top Flight looked good against Butcher and The Blade.

For the first time, Athena is being put in a position of being an underdog against Nyla. Let's see how she can handle that? Billie wanting so bad to avenge her boss was brave. Stupid, but brave. Lexi was being the voice of reason, once again.

    So, Abadon. OK, then.

  12. Rough week so far, with 3 workouts in. Started the week on Sunday evening. Did the incline dumbell bench/ hammer curl combo with nothing but 88's. Warm-up was a set of 6 with the seat two notches down, then put it straight up for the next 3. Got 11, 8 and 7 reps. Then, one notch down for two more sets, 9 and 7, I believe. A set of hammer curls after each one as well as a set of resistance band lat pull-downs.

Regular bench on Monday evening. 12 sets overall. Starting from 164 to 269 and back down to 154. Did sets of 5 going up and various different number of reps (between3 and 10) on the way down. Did regular dumbell curls and lateral raises to the side between bench sets, along with pushdowns and slow reverse grip curls with EZ Bar. Some ab work for the finish.

I knew that tonight had to be leg day or bust, so calf raises and squats on the machine it was. Started with the squats doing 5x139, 5x234, 5x278, 5x372, 6x416, 7x467 and 5x467. The set of 7 with 467 went surprisingly well, the 5 after, didn't.

Two sets of calf raises with 467, two with 416 and then one with each of the other weights used with squats. A better ab work session in the end and this is where we are at the moment.

Theoretically, two more workouts to go.

  13. Yeah, this interests me as far as the fate of WWE Network is concerned. I guess I need to wait and see about any additional info on the current library. If, for example, the back catalogue of PPV's and old tv episodes doesn't move over to Netflix and WWE Network just stops being a thing in 2025, I may have to binge on whatever I have time for during 2024. But I'll wait for a bit if we can find out more.

@Craig H Yup, WWE is cancelled after the end of season 3 (without a proper conclusion), or after 6 seasons if they'll get super lucky.

  14. Awesome episode! I need to watch the main event all the way through, but so far it rocked all the way!

GYV looking great and you guessed it, Frankie Kazarian turned on Young! That was uncalled for!

Maclin vs Nemeth should be good! Nic Nemeth had a really good theme song, better than his old one, anyway.

Exciting times in Pro Wrestling, overall!

Yeah, watched the main event until the end and it was spectacular. D'Amore promo at the end was very inspirational as well! I have a feeling I'll be watching that match again soon!

  15. Holy hell, what a week of wrestling on AEW! Collision was pretty insane! Looks like next week won't be any different! Copeland complained that veterans don't take him up on the challenge and next week he gets Suzuki! Good progression there!

Main event and Garcia vs Matthews were the highlights for me, but Sydal being awesome, opener and Copen Challenge were all good stuff! Amanata is really getting some exposure here, too. Match against Rosa was decent enough for sure!

  16. What's with these great Rampage episodes recently? Opener and main event were both thoroughly entertaining and two matches in the middle were worth their time as well. Stokley, Lethal and Ruby all had their ongoing stories slightly advanced, so this was all in all very enjoyable.

Mox vs Taylor on Collision? Holy crap! There has been so many interesting "filler" matches recently, and it's really good direction.

If you want to feature someone, why not put them in the ring with someone interesting. Hangman vs Workhorseman for last Saturday, as a great example.
