  1. It’s a tossup, but Ric looks better than Jarret to me. Ric looks fairly average for 77, Jeff looks bad for 55. If I had to hazard a guess, the road and a lotta late nights drinking to excess have taken their toll on Jarrett more than Ric. Guven Ric’s lifestyle, I am a little surprised Ric has made it to 77. Also surprised JJ and Karen Angle are still together. shit, I am almost Jarret’s age. I feel old.
  2. If I was going to put the title on an African-American wrestler, it certainly wouldn’t be Gresham. Nothing against the dude. But he’s not a big name and his size is a definite issue. I’d put the ROH belt on Hobbs. Maybe Lee. Heck, I’d probably book Swerve to go over before Gresham and I don’t particularly like Swerve. As for character, he’s not wrong but I dunno what Gresham’s character is either? Small guy with octopus mask doesn’t seem like a main-event character. Eh, I think Claudio’s a good choice for ROH champ and I’m a fan, but it’s quite likely he’s in the position he is in both AEW and ROH because he was in WWE. Tony Khan seems to have 500 wrestlers under contract. I don’t think Claudio would have been signed much less gotten a strong push right out of the gate if he hadn’t built up his rep working for Vince. That said, he does have an ROH connection and he.’s probably one of the better WWE-castoffs signed.
  3. Mad about doing a job or something else? Claudio seems like the better choice to me. Besides already being under contract to AEW, he’s the bigger name by far. And, in terms of kayfabe, Claudio is a much larger guy and probably the better in-ring guy. Not sure it.’s going to matter to network execs who is RoH champion when contract negations begin, but Claudio is more likely to make a favorable impression.
  4. I’m probably in the minority but I feel like there’s way too much Kingston on the show and he’s generally involved with the worst stuff (deathmatchs with underwhelming endings). I guess the crowds respond to him, do you can’t blame TK, but, yeah, I’m not seeing whet the rest of you see. I liked King during the BLKOut days and the prolonged CZW feud with Hero, but that was fifteen years ago. Not sure I want to see a Sammy-Kingston feud and I definitely don’t think Kingston should win said feud.
  5. Will be interesting to see the reactions if Charles Barkley really signs on with LIV. if LIV can really keep spending money like drunken monkeys, they might get over the hump and become legitimate competition.
  6. I’m trying to think of a reason Gresham should go over in the title match and I got nothing.
  7. Not my thing, tonally, but if you enjoyed the first film, the trailer looks like more of the same.
  8. If the dj didn’t play “We Gotta Get Out of This Place“ by the Animals while people headed for their cars in the seventh inning, it was a missed opportunity.
  9. It will be interestingly to see how the company develops over the next year or two. I think we’ll see small positive changes - announcers seeming more natural; changes in the lingo; experiments with pushing guys who are small, don.’t have a good look, etc. I am not convinced the product will get noticeably better. Maybe it will, but it’s really unclear who replaces Vince as the creative director. Pritchard? Trips? Heyman? I’m not too interested in those options or any of the others I can think of. I feel like Stephanie and Paul might course-correct and try to implement their vision of NXT on the main roster, but I’m hoping they don’t. Super-Indy NXT worked well when the indies had a lot of untapped talent, but worked less well after Samoa Joe, Zayn, Claudio, etc. came and went. Did anyone really want to see the Undisputed Era or Johnny Gargano pushed hard on the main roster? I like Cole and Gargano more then most but I never thought that was going to work. Heyman has booked some quality stuff over the years but he’s also booked a lot of awful stuff. Personally, I didn’t think the good stuff in ECW is worth sitting through the garbage. I’m a big fan of his year in OVW and, to a lesser extent, his time with the Smackdown Six, but he hasn’t done a lot of booking since and that was 15-20 years ago. Quite possible he’s out of touch too. I thought his short time running Raw a few years back was bad. It will be interesting. I think Vince is probably done forever with both management and creative, but he’s still the largest shareholder so until he sells, it is still his company. I’ve come across quite a few companies in my job that basically catered to the wishes of the largest shareholders regardless of who was CEO and regardless of how determined management was not to be their puppets. At least some of Vince’s vision for the company will probably remain intact until the McMAhon’s sell their shares or Vince dies, I think the commonly is too profitable and too diversified to collapse anytime soon, but a sharp decline wouldn’t surprise me. Vince has done a terrible, irresponsible job of preparing the WWE for a future without him in charge.
  10. Ask Kurt Busiek. I actually did not know Ross was a Thunderbolt. Haven’t read the title since Busiek’s initial run.
  11. During the recent MJF TIHNG, Dave and Bryan did a 13-minute segment that ended with Dave saying “Well, I can’t tell you what the story behind it really is because I don’t know what the story behind it really is” I really want those ten minutes back.
  12. I guess it’s better to be a smug person with a message board account and far too much time on their hands who wants us to know they’re far too smart to get worked like the rest of us. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter either way. Brock was on the show. He’s most likely doing SummerSlam Story’s over.
  13. I kinda hope this leads to a replay of the MJF weekend. Bryan and Dave are doing a show Sunday and Alvarez says something like “So what ‘s the latest?” And Dave says “why don’t you tell me. You know more than I do” then proceeds to drag Bryan over the nonexistent (?) plane flight and other details about the story. At the time, Dave was being a smug jerk. This time, Alvarez might deserve it. He has been wrong several times lately.
  14. So now they Vince is apparently gone, what’s the over/under on how long it will be till people start hating Tony Khan? I give it nine months, but I’m probably being optimistic
  15. The story about Brock walking out of SDL is probably not true.
  16. Probably. i don’t expect Vince to ever do a wrestling podcast, but, if he does, I really hope he gets talked into reading a MeUndies commercial.
  17. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him try that, but…. my problem with conspiracy theories are people can’t keep secrets even when they want to and everyone has cell phones these days. We live in a really big wi-fi fish bowl. Very little happens to public figures without someone taking a picture or being willing to leak it to the media, but yet I’m supposed to believe that the government has been amassing alien technology for decades and that Bill Gates’s rules the world with a shadow cabal. Odd that a dozen people take my picture if I trip and stumble at dinner (this actually happened) but no one thinks to take a cell phone photo or call CBS News about their work at Area 51. if Vince still has any involvement at all with the company, someone will be telling Meltzer or Satin about it within a matter of weeks.
  18. Probably. Markets close at 4 PM Eastern Standard Time. Vince’s tweet is time-stamped 4:05 and the official statement went out about that time. They’re hoping the sell- off will be less reactionary on Monday and that the news cycle will have moved on to a fresher story. I used to work on Wall Street. We saw a lot of bad news dumped late Friday afternoon. I’ll believe Vince is really out of creative when I see it, but that tweet doesn’t read like something Vince would ever say, so maybe this really is it.
  19. Her’s the last tweet I tried to embed. https://twitter.com/bleedingcool/status/1550497386149171202?s=20&t=KBegdWgBumgWodcfRo9xcg Interestingly, it wouldn’t embed for me an hour or two ago, but it works fine now. Like I said, it doesn’t happen every time. I also tried to embed a random tweet when I started this thread (basically so I could get the wording of the error message right. late,y, it seems like I get an error more often than not.
  20. What is Earth 0? The main world most DC comics have been set on since…. CoIE? Or something else? I still think of the main continuity as Earth 1 (One), but Google suggests that is no longer the case. Do “Crisis” events still sell well? I mostly find runs too tied up in crossovers and special events to be skippable. The crossover elements tend to be less interesting to me than whatever was going on the book before the plot lines got detailed. Marvel’s doing this right now. I am kinda intrigued by Gillem’s Eternal and X-men books and Ewings X-men title, but the ongoing plots seem likely to be back-burnered or dropped entirely so the books can focus on the A-X-E.
  21. Does anyone else have problems embedding tweets? I’ve been having an issue for a couple months now. Doesn’t happen every time, but I frequently get an error when I try to embed a tweet. After I click “Paste as plain text instead”,’ I get an error message saying that “the link could not be pasted because an of an unexpected error: error: undefined”. Anyone else have this problem? It seems to crop up frequently, so it’s getting kind of annoying. I mostly notice it when I am on a mobile device. Safari is the default browser on all my devices so I wonder if it’s a browser issue. Thanks.
  22. Wife and I do. Wife is thrilled. We never felt Ryan Eggold and Freema Agyeman had much chemistry and never quite bought their characters getting together, yet they were pushed hard as the show’s super-couple.
  23. Dark Crisis’ full title is Dark Crisis on infinite Earth. It’s being billed as on “official” sequel to CoIE. Somehow, I’m less interested now than I was before. And my interest level wasn’t that high to begin with, I like Joshua Williamson’s writing so I will pick this up eventually, but it may be awhile. My backlog is already really long with older runs from the last 30-40 years and not a lot of Marvel or DC is interesting me right now. Both companies have a reasonable of writers I like (Taylor, Gillen, King, etc.) but I end up not being too interested in their projects. A lot of writers I like are working with artists I dislike on concepts I don’t care about. Honestly, only two Marvel/DC books are on my “must read asap” list: Flashpoint Beyond and Miracleman: The Silver Age. It may be years before I get around to reading John Ridley’s Batman work or King’s Batman/Catwoman series (and I’m fairly interested in both of those; big fan of Ridley’s work on The American Way.
  24. If a normal-size human or a big guy like Jake Hager can get out by squeezing (or not; it looked like you could step normally between the bars), then there are quite a few sizes and species of sharks that can get in. Most sharks are smaller than Jaws.
  25. I almost turned off the main - hardcore matches aren’t my thing - but glad I didn’t. The visual of the JAS stepping between the bars after Tay fumbled with the keys was amusing. Ruby getting suckered by evil Anna Jay and tossed into things is probably the best use of Ruby. the NXT goomba who got cut for failing a drug test fell upward. Scratching my head how he rated an interview segment and tv spot. I wonder If I could get a contract if someone told TK Vince released me. Ok show until the main. Kinda glad Jericho won, but it seems to indicate this feud is going to continue and it really shouldn’t.
