  1. Love that we drafted him right before Justin Jefferson /s Now they get to play together, how cute.
  2. I really hope Ricky Starks gets a nice push over the course of the next year up into the main event scene, because I would like to see some "AEW originals" if you will push their way into the top. It's nice to have CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, etc. on your roster, but do not let it stunt the growth of the performers who could be the stars of tomorrow. I just don't want them to wait too long while someone's hand is hot by trying to appease to the other big names they've brought in. A main event scene with MJF, Ricky Starks, Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, etc excites me more than the current one we're at. I'm not bashing it, but I'm ready for some of these guys to really get a push up into superstardom if you will.
  3. I think what he's saying is that 24 hours ago they changed the option from you having to buy a combo pack (Dynamite, Rampage, and All Out) to just being able to buy an All Out ticket. 800 tickets were remaining when they changed it to just a single ticket buying option, and when they did that they only sold 100 more tickets. Now this is just my interpretation, but matt is saying that this doesn't look good for AEW because this isn't even a full NBA or NHL arena they're trying to sell out. It's smaller, which should in turn make it easier. Edit - Damn, we posted at the same time. I should've just kept my mouth shut -_-
  4. I can't disagree, Britt vs. Jake Hager does sound pretty damn interesting. I'd love to see him writhing in the Lock Jaw.
  5. Spoilers from Rampage that could pertain to All Out
  6. FWIW Tony Khan liked that tweet, so make of it what you will.
  7. www.twitch.tv/aewgames Showing off gameplay for Fight Forever right now (ft. Colt Cabana and Evil Uno). Uno also said they will have some matches at the venue this weekend, marking it as the first AEW matches on European soil! Wonder if they count towards the records.
  8. I thought the reason signs went away was because cell phones became popular and people can't hold a sign and a cell phone at the same time (I mean you could, but it may be a little difficult). Probably also coupled with the fact that wrestling isn't "pop culture cool" anymore so people don't think their buddy and their buddies buddy are all watching to see the sign.
  9. We are also talking about the World champion of a promotion though, and it's not just any person - it's CM Punk who's been known to stir up trouble. If this were about Luchasaurus or someone, sure I'd agree with you. However, if the reports are true and Punk isn't willing to put over Hangman Page and goes as far as to call him out on TV and make his character look "weak" in an unplanned spot I'd say that's a big deal. That's AEWs first real "homegrown" champion in Hangman mind you. I'd like to think that carries a little credence in the AEW lore.
  10. You really think that outright saying "I will not lose to (insert name here)" who is also the champion at the time mind you is... okay?
  11. I second the bolded part, and that's where the basis of my comments came from. Punk, despite wanting to main event WrestleMania and all that jazz just seemed like a guy who wanted to make good music for a bad record company. Now he just genuinely comes off as a prick who believes his own hype... SEVEN years after last fully competing. "I won't let him beat me" is the most 1980s quote from the wrestling sphere. Like, I didn't think that was still a thing. How ironic it's Mr. Think of the Future pulling that shit out.
  12. You know, it would be really ironic if the guy (CM Punk) who's whole mission statement upon debuting was about the fresh young new stars AEW had that he couldn't wait to work with. However, if you do want to believe and go tin foil hat - I don't believe that Hangman Page was one of the names Punk ever mentioned. This could lead to a couple of thoughts. A.) Punk really doesn't care if he works with Hangman B.) Punk had the foresight to think about a scenario like this (which I doubt since it seems so convoluted) C.) Punk just completely forgot about him It does seem odd to me that if Punk has heat with somebody it's Adam Page of all people. By all accounts he is one of the nicest, just genuine guys out there. Not to mention (and idk if this would even matter) Hangman is very outspoken on a lot of political stuff that him and Punk seem to agree on which I'd have to imagine a guy like Punk respects. But this is pro wrestling, so who knows. The ABC above would lead me to think that it's a shoot, but outside of that context I just don't see any reason why Punk would hate Page or refuse to EVER do a job to him. Does Punk think he's 2022 Hulk Hogan "that doesn't work for me brother"? I just can't buy it, him and Khan seem to be like two peas in a pod too much for him to be disgruntled here like he was back in WWE.
  13. You know what though, that 3 week stretch for Hurricane probably made more fans for him than almost any other time during his run. Some guys I think are just what they are. Shane Helms is a good wrestler, but you gotta have openers/lower midcarders and as a comedy/character act he worked perfectly. Nothing wrong with having a little place as fodder. Similar to Dolph Ziggler. Not everyone can be Roman Reigns or The Rock and sometimes it's okay to be Scotty 2 Hotty or Gangrel.
  14. I don't think Will Hobbs is the type of guy to break into others cars, but what do I know.
  15. You have to cut time off of the other matches, but I think the real answer is simply that AEW needs to expand their TV time. If I was TK, I'm thinking that my company is finally at the stage where it can sufficiently produce 4 hours of live (being the key word) TV a week. You can do taped if you want to, but just know that the ratings are going to suffer - so I think the answer is live. Then you get into the problem of where do you put that additional hour of TV time, on Rampage making it a 2 hour live show now competing head to head with SmackDown or expanding Dynamite to 3 hours. I've got a pretty good idea of what the consensus would be on that. But to the main point, there's more than enough of a roster built up in AEW now for them to expand even further. You could easily add another hour of TV and I bet you there are still gonna be some talents that will be having a difficult time making TV, because their roster is just that deep.
  16. I can't get enough of the enthusiastic chest bump Mox does at the end to Claudio as they leave the ring. BCC is really starting to find their footing.
  17. I've said it for a while and I will say it again - AEW's biggest problem is 2 fold. 1.) Their roster is so bloated right now. They have the WWE effect where we want 800 guys to be pushed in 10 spots. I went through the roster the other day (and would encourage some of you to do so as well) and look at everyones records. Out of about 90 active wrestlers (that in and of itself is a lot for 3 hours of weekly programming), around 70-75 have winning records. How exactly does that really help anybody get over? That's almost 50/50 booking except with giving those guys wins on Dark. How many guys get pushed on Dark and get a beefy record just for one TV match to lose and be booted back to Dark? 2.) Long competitive TV matches give you less time to get more talent on the show. When you have a 2 hour show that runs about 1:40 with commercials, that leaves you with 100 minutes to get as much on TV as possible. If AEW had WWE's 5 hours of programming a week, it might work - but even then I don't think it would because AEW doesn't have the gravitas that WWE has for fans (not the hardcore fans) to tune into 5 hours worth of programming a week. Let's be honest, with only 3 hours of TV every week, how do you manage to fit (here we go) Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, CM Punk, Hangman Page, Bryan Danielson, Miro, MJF, Adam Cole, Jungle Boy, Darby Allin, Will Hobbs, Hook, Ricky Starks, Andrade, Eddie Kingston and the list goes on and on. I don't know if this is by design either, but I feel there's no direct "world title scene" if you will. Yeah we got the main eventers up there (pretty much everyone I just listed) but who would you classify as a good TNT (comparable to IC Title) holder? You have so many people you could consider "above" the title, but not within reach of the World Title. Darby should've realistically been a real challenger with a feud for the World title by now with how much they pushed him when he was TNT champion. Instead, he's fallen to the back of the line while the other shiny new toys come in. And don't take this as AEW slander since I love AEW with all my heart and want to see it succeed - but it's clear that the waters are a little more murky than they used to be. Maybe part of that is taking the time to put the spotlight on NJPW or Ring of Honor and thus diluting your own brand in the process. Like say TK hadn't bought RoH when he did, I think we would be in a fine situation right now, but it's just crossing too many streams at once. Focus on AEW being AEW, you can do your Forbidden Door shows and stuff too, but then compounding that with RoH integration as well?
  18. Guy still looks exactly the same. Doesn't age at all.
  19. Oh, I never said he wasn't a big deal, but it's nice to have diversity atop the card and a Japanese wrestler would not only be perfect for AEW, but could help with potential expansion out that way if they want to become a global powerhouse like the WWE. Chess, not checkers here.
  20. Look, if WWE is trying to bring back and bring in some people that's awesome. It'll help the product. You can take MJF even if you want to, but don't you damn dare take Takeshita.
  21. Spoilered for size, but I will say Sasha wasn't the only person doing this according to twitter. That must mean her and Danhausen have a good rapport since he got to be right next to her though.
  22. I've never felt more at home. Honestly never would've guessed, but just makes me love this place more.
  23. Hey, One Piece! Edit - If even 3 other people on this board know what that is, I will genuinely be shocked...
