  1. They were also the only mainstream game in town at the time too. We love 'rasslin and just want some good graps. This is consistently trying to belittle an owner who has done pretty close to everything in his power to treat the wrestling business with as much respect as a new owner could and try to bring it to the glory, respect, and enjoyment it once had. Brodie Lee, Owen Hart memorial, KultureCity, and I'm sure many more I'm forgetting.
  2. Genuine question bruv, do you enjoy AEW or do you just try and facilitate news in as negative of a way as possible for strife? It's really odd that a majority of the time I see your posts, they are always in some negative connotation. Especially when it comes to Tony Khan, because I'm starting to feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day and let me tell you something, I'm not THAT old yet. If you aren't a fan of TK, that's fair - to each their own - but at some point trying to dress up a quote as something it's not is kind of off putting to a lot of us. And I guarantee you a majority of posters on here will agree that you do exactly that.
  3. I was listening to Bischoffs podcast today and he was talking about if the Fusient deal had gone through, they wanted to set up the Power Plant in Las Vegas for a more centralized location where the training area could turn into a make shift studio. Which made me wonder. Could a major promotion run exclusively out of Las Vegas? Every week you have your one or two shows from the studio, maybe travel for PPVs or something. The amount of tourists/visitors helping with the attendance? I know it's not a 1/1 example and sports are different (loyalty, etc.) but the Raiders have seen a rise in attendance (moving from around 88-90% of a filled stadium in Oakland to around 95% in Vegas). I just feel like wrestling could fit like a shoe with Vegas as we have seen with PPVs in the past.
  4. Daniel Garcia in the shades looking like a badass. Chris Jericho in the trench coat with a bat... Looking like Sting.
  5. LA Knight has megastar written all over him. Admittedly I wasn't too familiar with him prior to WWE as I hadn't seen much (if any) Eli Drake in Impact, but I'll be DAMNED if I am not impressed by him on a weekly basis. This week, good example. Howdy goes to come out on the ramp or whatever and instead of just standing there and staring, Knight drops a few more kicks to Wyatt down in the corner. I genuinely think he could be a main event player in the future for them. Why in gods name Vince wanted him as just a manager blows my mind.
  6. I'd honestly replace Claudio with Joe. I think Joe has the name value and has been a world champion in numerous other places (TNA, NXT) so he has that big name that comes with him. Not a knock on Claudio, but for the fans eyes - I would think Samoa Joe would be a much better "name" to be at the top of the RoH hierarchy. Plus it gives the guy who beats him a "holy shit, he beat JOE" push as well. Plus AEW has MORE than enough hosses that they would suffice. Wardlow, Powerhouse Hobbs, BIG BILL, Archer, etc.
  7. Two guys I'd like to see end up in AEW at some point; Tony Deppen and Mike Bailey. I know Deppen has wrestled a bunch on Dark, but I think those are two guys that are worthy of main roster spots in one of the big two companies.
  8. Why is it that AEW always hit me with the perfect nostalgia punch? God I love TK so fucking much.
  9. I have a rabbit hole theory that it was because Linda going to be selected as the leader of the SBA by Trump. Roman was suspended in 2016, right before the election time. All I can think is that they wanted to cross all their Ts and dot their Is to make sure nothing could come under fire. Maybe even makes her/the company look better saying "see, we don't care if it's even our biggest star. We care about integrity (lol, i know)". I know its an out there theory that probably isn't true, but looking at WWE landscape in 2016 that's the best I can think of.
  10. Yeah I don't recall the specifics of it either and am not trying to derail the topic. Was just thinking of situations that may be comparable. Also had no idea about a Ricochet tug video either. Wonder if it's rated 5 stars?
  11. To be fair... Are we thinking if Riddle or Rollins were caught spinning their meat on OF they wouldn't be fired either? I mean we don't have a male to example to counter this with, but Paige did have a sex tape released and she wasn't fired. So idk. Whole situation is intersting to say the least.
  12. Damn it, life can end just way too quick. Two days ago, 48 hours ago everything seemed normal and now here we are. Man revolutionized the game with the air raid and had some of, if not the most entertaining soundbites in sports. The world of college football is in a better place for having Coach Leach in it but today it took a hit. A true legend. And also a great guest spot of Friday Night Lights.
  13. Velocity from 2002-2004 was arguably one of my favorite wrestling shows ever. As a kid, there was something magical about some late Saturday night wrestling. Followed by Confidential!
  14. I think in an ideally perfect world, we would get TWO hours of live Rampage every week playing and then having RoH taped before that which would inherently increase the value of Rampage as a must see show. Issue with that is - AEW has a hard enough time of keeping Rampage in a stable one hour slot so I don't know if WBD is THAT happy with them. Then you have the problem of basically going head to head with SmackDown, but that's also the problem with back dooring yourself to only Friday nights and having your main show be in the middle of the week. They've limited the days they will do business because of the NFL to Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday essentially with no TV for Monday or Thursday (even though I think Thursday would work, but is back to back days of live wrestling too much?).
  15. I like the idea of taping Ring of Honor with the AEW shows as it will at least "familiarize" the AEW fans with some of the lesser known RoH talent. The only thing that I won't like about it is the fact that you can't really separate the look of RoH and AEW because you're going to be using the same entrance set, ramp, etc. as you would for your main show. There has to be some level of separation between them, and I'm not sure how they could really swing that - but there has to be a clear line drawn between RoH and AEW and you can't have them feel like the same product. Wednesday: Elevation 7pm-8pm/Live Dynamite 8pm-10pm Friday: RoH TV 8-10pm/Live Rampage 10pm-11pm The only reason I say that is I don't want everyone getting burnt out by the time the main show comes around. There have been so many times (including the show I attended last year) where the crowd was dead by the time Rampage came around because we had an hour of Dark, then two hours of Dynamite, and then an hour of Rampage. Four hours is just so much. Or, maybe expand that Rampage to two hours and turn it into your version of SmackDown which the roster can support now. Then you get an hour of RoH tapings and two hours of Rampage. The benefits of taping RoH with AEW would be so obvious that I'm sure TK would have to be thinking of it. You have all your production crew right there, easier to coordinate schedules and probably much cheaper on the finances in the end. However, I can't recall two "separate" promotions taping shows back to back - even NXT never running the same arena as WWE - let alone an hour before the main show.
  16. PWInsider (and a few others) are reporting Sasha Banks is set to appear at WrestleKingdom next month. Can 2023 trump 2022 in for wackiness in the world of pro wrestling?
  17. Joe's been on Dynamite a fair bit with that TV title and now TNT title as well. RoH "stuff" has kind of been kept off Dynamite but Garcia still shows up and is the RoH Pure champ, FTR show up and are the RoH Tag champs. I think that's where the problem lies. Everyone who's a RoH champ is an AEW guy so it just leads us to a bunch of blurred lines. Now play that track Robin Thicke.
  18. After this last little issue with AEW, I'm all out of time for CM Punk. Really happy with what he brought to AEW and the MJF storyline, but the backstage drama and bullshit seems to always center around that man. Almost every place he has ever been, there's always stories of him being a little pecker. Whoever said the Elite ARE AEW is 100% spot on. AEW just feels like AEW with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. They are what CM Punk wanted to be, except their revolution blew up a little bit more than Punks.
  19. I'm underqualified and only joking, but my point does stand that I love this side of wrestling talk. Also, Jade to confront Bow Wow on Dynamite this Wednesday.
  20. Believe it or not, I'm actually studying business in college right now - so half of this stuff is right up my alley. Hey Tony, if you're reading the message board right now - I am available.
  21. 1. Why does he look like a goof? 2. Who cares? The things people try and parce with "well he should've done x..." is getting kind of absurd now.
  22. Never understood the hate for Khan; unless people are just jealous they aren't in his shoes. The guy has done so much for wrestling as a whole. Say what you will about the quality of shows and whether they're your cup of tea or not - but he's done and tried to do nothing more than bring all wrestling together. If I was in Tony Khans shoes, I'd have done the same exact thing and I bet there are tons of wrestling historians/fans on here who'd share that same sentiment.
  23. Credit to SRS on Twitter. Spoilered for size, but complete rundown of the Full Gear media conference call.
  24. I'm kind of surprised that a lot of you don't see Saraya as a star. I know this isn't the greatest metric but she has more followers on Twitter (2.7m to 2.4m) than Sasha Banks and a healthy 6+ million followers on Instagram. Had a movie made about her and was one of the pioneers of womens wrestling being taken seriously. Also she didn't say she headlined the Tokyo Dome, she said "I've DONE Madison Square Garden, I've DONE the O2, I've DONE the Tokyo Dome" which she didn't... but she did do the Beast in the East show a couple of years ago from Ryogoku Kokugikan . A long shout from the Dome though.
