  1. CM Punk and Owen Hart both back in the landscape of professional wrestling in 2021. I really am not trying to be morbid here, but man - that Brodie show may have changed the course of the entire business judging by some of the comments Punk made. It's so sad what happened, especially with the Rochester show looming next week, but damn it all Brodie and AEW changed the business. For the better. That man, that heartfelt tribute show - everything.
  2. Very glad they're doing this for Owen, should be an awesome thing. To be honest, kind of wish it was for Brodie in the same breath though just because what he has clearly meant to AEW as a whole. Either way, nice to see people being remembered and honored for their contributions to the business. Legend.
  3. I think what you are thinking of is their title rematch which if I remember correctly they said they weren't ready to use yet because they had that feud with PnP going. Now I could be wrong on that one, but I'm pretty sure I do remember them mentioning a title rematch in their clause.
  4. Oh yeah, that reminds me of my favorite line from the night. JR: "Some call him a blister on the ass of life" (referencing MJF) CM Punk: "Wow, ho oh, we got it like that here on TNT?"
  5. Spoilered for size, open for a surprise.
  6. -Loaded card for next week. My god, what a show that'll be -Giving the people Kaze Ni Nare, thank you -Tons of shits -Rosario Dawson is in the Nightmare Family... Oh and the Gunn Club are fixing to run the table
  7. Can't wait to see AEW's version of Team Rocket in 2.0 once again. Always a good night with some Matt and Jeff on my TV.
  8. Hate the name Bron Breakker, but think he looks like a million dollars. That's the guy Vince saw and said "there's my next big thing" and rightfully so. Nice job by him to keep LA up for the gorilla press slam. Didn't catch all of the show, but I like the overall looks/aesthetics and colors. Despite it maybe looking a little Nickelodeon, I personally really liked it. I don't know if it will be appointment television, but a nice little thing to watch here and there.
  9. He wrestled Sting on PPV in his first match back. I'd say that's a pretty nice push. Also, Anthony Ogogo had something going before his eye surgery. Granted, Cody beat him - but to be fair if he was going to have surgery and they found out after it would be weird to put Ogogo over and then just have him disappear.
  10. What about Ricky Starks? He's been getting groomed pretty well.
  11. Yeah Khan talked about this recently on Busted Open for the lead up to All Out. Khan credited Bear Country, Kris Statlander, Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, and Leyla Hirsch with being recommended by MJF.
  12. That was me who called them out on that. I usually get home from picking my GF up at 9:30 on Wednesday nights and EVERY TIME I would come home for a little stretch there, it felt like there was a women's match on. My complaint with that was more so that I wanted "unpredictability" instead of leaving at 845 and getting back at 930 and knowing exactly what segment would be on - but your point remains true still.
  13. Well, let's have some good discourse then. What do we think the idea for Rampage is for the future? Do you think this is more a kin to Sunday Night Heat or are they going to try and turn this into the next SmackDown? Because it feels to me like early era Sunday Night Heat where they try to make it appointment television (which I think is possible with all the stars they have), but it's also in such a weird slot in my opinion. Friday night at 10pm til 11pm is such a hard time slot to bring in all these 18-49. If you're in college in that age, you're probably parting on a Friday night. If you are older, you may be out at the bars or getting ready for the weekend.
  14. Exactly. It's no different than people on twitter trying the whole "AEW fans are tribalistic" - while you then have those same fans suck Vinces nuts over every single minute decision he makes. Look, I've turned about 3 non wrestling fans into fans through AEW. I'll stream the shows I'm watching through the discord so they can watch with me and after about two years of them digesting occasional AEW and WWE, guess who they prefer? AEW. And the reason being the storylines make sense. My buddy said "MJF goes from being GI Cody (that's what he calls him) friend to where he is now. You can see clear story progrssion which you don't get with WWE. He said and I quote "they try to hit you over the head with the same information so much, you don't see anything new" and I kinda understand what he means. Granted this is a different scenario because if those casuals have any questions they can ask me, but I just love that AEW is what's gotten them to actually enjoy what we all love. I also showed them Beyond the Mat on Friday and him seeing Jake Roberts then vs. now gave him a whole new appreciation for Jake. I dont know what that has to do with any of this, but yeah. I'm just happy AEW is even getting my friends interested. That just tickles me pink. The more the merrier.
  15. You know who I think would be perfect to beat Miro? A freshly turned face Wardlow. Granted, we may need the MJF vs. Wardlow feud first, but a face War-dog may just be what the doctor ordered.
  16. I mean to be fair we are also on a message board... We can only talk about Hook and Colton Gunn so much. That's when we move onto the JR commentary conversation or now the video package (lack of) debacle.
  17. It's also not like Suzuki just randomly showed up on Dynamite - this had been billed for three days. The internet is also a thing that like 90% of people have and 100% of people on here have. If we can type out thirty paragraphs on our beef with the Suzuki thing, it IS possible to take 10 seconds -> google.com -> Minoru Suzuki. Just to be fair though.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rrUHeY83Ao So for some reason the link isn't embedding here which is sad - but I stumbled upon this ESPN Outside the Lines from 1999 titled "Pro Wrestling's Hold on America". It's a 47 minute piece, but I really think a lot of you would enjoy this little road trip back to the Attitude Era with everything going on now. Vince has a line about six minutes in about the fans "they dictate to us, not the other way around"... Man, if only.
  19. I will take anyone over Tommy DeVito at Syracuse. Give me Garrett Shrader 3x on Sunday at this point - I can't. Every. Single. God damn. Year. I often wonder if our program will ever turn it around again.
  20. July 7th was his match against Matt Sydal. Two months is still bad, but better than four at least. This is what I said in the other thread when I brought up Sammy having like 10 matches in a calendar year. I'm all for rotating people around, but after talking with my buddies yesterday, look at the at least upper midcard talent AEW has now. Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, MJF, CM Punk, Darby Allin, Hangman Page, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Miro, Christian Cage, Cody Rhodes, Malakai Black, Andrade El Idolo, PAC... And that's not counting fringe guys or people who will be up there soon (Starks, Sammy) or are on the fringe (Archer, Kingston). That's 20 guys I just named who could realistically (outside of maybe Starks and Sammy) challenge for the AEW title. So back to the main point. That's.... A LOT of mouths to feed. Like a metric ton. It's good to have that much talent but to be fair I also don't want to wait 3-5 weeks to see one Miro match either or ect. Plus, AEW in my opinion is putting too much of the new toys out there. Do we need to hear from Cole and Bryan on back to back shows? They did it with Punk where he was on 4 straight shows. You know I love those guys and all, I just want to see more of those who don't get all the time.
  21. The Big 12 just needed Dana Holgorsen back. Not a bad collection of teams, but if you're losing big guns like Texas and Oklahoma - does it even matter? Feels like college basketballs Big East after Syracuse, West Virginia, Louisville, Pittsburgh, ect left. Time will tell, but I will try and be optimistic about it.
  22. If this were my list, I'm okay with all of these except Brock Anderson, QT/Comoroto, Private Party, and Shawn Dean. The rest I agree are pretty much expendable (Sorry Jack Evans, TH2 just never took off) but those people I'm trying to save are relatively younger. If you really made me get rid of at least one of those people I listed it would be Private Party as I feel Top Flight has taken over the "we're the future high flying tag team" spot from them. Speaking of which, once Darius comes back that would be a hell of a feud. Also, I think Janela will have a job for a while just due to his GCW ties and being a quasi "talent scout" for them. This is random, but if anyone knows who Shane Mercer is - that's a guy I'd love to see in AEW.
  23. Damn, missed opportunity to change his name to Adam Lee... Adamle...
