  1. One match is all I ask for. One specific match. Jeff Cobb/Samoa Joe. Please.
  2. Speaking of themes, last night it hit me just how great Miro's theme is. Those horns going off at the beginning signaling that someone is about to die is just awesome. We all know this, but I'll be damned if theme songs isn't one of AEW's strongest areas. You have a mixed bag of some incredible licensed songs, coupled with nice tweaks of some classics like Sting and FTR, then with the cavalcade of original songs that Mikey Ruckus and company come up with. When I was younger, I loved listening to the wrestling themes, but as an adult now, I feel like I can put a lot of these on and just jam to them cause they're quality.
  3. Didn't Cody explicitly state in a promo one time that he wouldn't turn face? AEW has always been the inside baseball promotion, so something of this ilk - if anything - is right in line with AEW in my opinion. Edit - I meant to say Cody wouldn't turn heel, but let's be honest. It's funnier if I keep the mistake in.
  4. To be fair, didn't this whole MJF money deal thing start with the Ariel Helwani interview (which was back in March) - prior to the Kota stuff surfacing? I don't think any of that started til about mid April at the earliest.
  5. I'm gonna be honest, I'm surprised a few of you disliked the MJF stuff. I thought it was absolutely fantastic TV and had about 4 people in the discord watching who couldn't give two shits about wrestling. That's crossover appeal right there, that's talking chops. MJF just cut one of the best promos I've ever seen and in the words of Forrest Gump "that's all I got to say 'bout that".
  6. Daddy Magic is my spirit animal
  7. No way they put a live mic on him with all this stuff going on if it was a shoot, right? Right? RIGHT?!?! *thinks back to Cody*
  8. Can we take a second to appreciate all the great things Jericho has brought and done in AEW? Stadium Stampede, Anarchy in the Arena, the Wizard/Demo God/Le Champion, ooooo a little bit of the bubbly. And he's getting Danny boy and 2.0 over as well. He might be a guy I need to place on my Mt. Rushmore just for his mind and longevity of being at the top.
  9. I am so so SO HAPPY that 2.0 got a major spot on a PPV and were a part of a classic. Back when they signed in the summer, I hopped all in on their bandwagon and to see their progression along with Daniel Garcia. That's why I love wrestling. Seeing the small guy get elevated and get their moment in front of 17,000 fans. ?
  10. Cesaro to interfere in the Joe/Cole match? Any thoughts on that? I was thinking Cesaro teams with Joe to help take out Lethal and co. but maybe the Up Up Down Down connection comes to AEW? Claudio in the Undisputed Elite as their bodyguard type guy? Whole lotta thoughts - just trying to think of something else besides MJF.
  11. Yeah but now we're replacing a Cody guy with ANOTHER Cody guy. That might not be the best case scenario at this moment in time.
  12. MJFs up for his new contract when he is 28 though, hardly old in the business of professional wrestling. While I don't disagree he may be underpaid, Khan has explicitly stated he wants to keep Max AND is willing to pay him - but he has to take the extra time on the contract as that's how it works. The guy has been given the keys to the kingdom - promenantly featurd week in and week out Sounds like MJF wants to be a prick and get paid AND dip in 2024 too by all accounts. I mean how else can you read that situation. Let's not forget this has been a 3 year build with a guy I'd imagine he has some relationship with. Maybe MJF worked his way into a shoot?
  13. I just don't get it. Here's a guy in MJF who, albeit hasn't been given the absolute best or concurrent storylines in the world - but has been absolutely pushed as one of their top stars. He's currently the only person to hold a win over CM Punk. He main evented All Out for the World Title with Jon Moxley. You couple that with, what seemed like a really good relationship with Tony Khan at the beginning and, well, that leads us to here. My only correlation with WWE for MJF is that Prichard worked in MLW with Max before he went back. Now while they may have had a good relationship, you've got a billionaire who seemingly worships the ground you walk on that you're buds with. Said billionaire pushes you as one of the faces of his company. Said billionaire is willing to give you more money, but only with a contract extension (which I've never heard of it working any other way in any form of a contract). I don't really see what his complaint is here. If it's the fact that he's not World Champion, I got a news flash for him. His time will come and he will be a multi time champion. He even won the Diamond ring 3x in a row. Wardlow isn't exactly a spring chicken either. He's 34 to MJFs 26. I don't know why Max would have that much beef even if it was putting over Wardlow at the PPV. Isn't that the heels job? It's not like Max is jobbing out every week. Granted out of Max's 11 total losses in AEW, 4 have come in his last 5 matches since December 22nd. A trios loss w FTR to Darby, Sting, and Punk, the two shenanigans to Shawn Dean, and the Punk loss. I really just hope it's an elaborate work. I can't see what MJF would be so sour over unless he really is trying to leverage a big deal with WWE. BUT even if that was the case, surely MJF realizes he can't really be MJF over there. No way Vince allows him calling people fat hicks and stuff of that ilk. I just don't know, it's such a bizarre situation.
  14. I just watched the Ruby/MJF/Powerhouse part on YouTube and I absolutely recommend you guys go out of your way to watch it.
  15. Doesn't that seem kind of absurd though for a PPV event right? If people are purchasing your show, what does it matter what time the basketball game ends. The people aren't going to be buying the show at 9:45/10pm just for the main event.
  16. That would make a 12 match card with only Hookhausen vs. Sterling/Neese as the only announced Buy-In match. I would've said that Jade/Anna should be on the Buy-In, but I actually think O'Reilly/Darby would be an excellent pre show match. I mean just three years ago at the first DoN our pre-show matches were the Casino Battle Royal that Hangman won and Sabian/Sammy. It's okay to put some real star power on the preshow.
  17. Yeah, this Great-O-Khan loose in Vegas allows me to forgive him for the botches last night. Shit, now I want MORE Khan.
  18. Man, I really hope AEW is able to get Sasha. She would be such the biggest star in their division and matches with Rosa, Deeb, Cargill, Britt, maybe even Mercedes Martinez. And I keep getting this tag of Willow Nightingale and Sasha in my head that could just take over the wrestling world.
  19. I just looked it up, because I was curious when they dropped the Jeeves portion. February 2006 - 16+ years ago. Man do I feel old.
  20. I'm so glad this got brought up because I no bullshit was just thinking about this the other day. The amount of talent that AEW has, they could easily put on a PPV every two months if they wanted to. Hell, they could do one every month if they really wanted to. But with that being said, the three months gives the perfect amount of time in my opinion to advance storylines without rush and allowing others to have a place on your show. If you do a PPV every month, you HAVE to have all those guys on pretty much every Dynamite - and that leaves less room for some of our favorites. Plus, they have kind of expanded the PPV to 5 with the Forbidden Door in June. That for me seems to be perfect; 4 of your own PPVs and then 1 supercard for the global promotions/NJPW/whoever else may dip their toes in the future. It makes the PPVs feel special as we only get one every three months and I appreciate that. Also, themed Dynamites are indeed the best. Jericho Cruise episode from a few years ago was so much fun, Grand Slam was a joy, give me more "unique environment" Dynamites and that's the formula.
  21. Anna Jay vs. Jade Cargill for the TBS Title has been made official per the AEW twitter. Also appears it may be a main card match as I see nothing denoting it being a Buy-In match.
  22. I really, realllllyyyy wish they had chosen a better name than Anarchy in the Arena. I wonder if Anarchy Rulz is available, because that would be a tip of the cap to ECW AND still fit into the stipulation of the match. This PPV is shaping up to be another all timer. I for one am stoked at Wardlow getting a big time PPV match, Starks/Hobbs getting a big time title match, and 2.fucking0 in a HUGE feud with some Daniel Garcia. That's without even mentioning the main event and the Owen matches. Rosa/Deeb should be good, but I'm not gonna lie - the feud hasn't reeled me in as much as I had hoped.
  23. I second this motion, but even if they don't - they are presenting him in such a way that he will no doubt be a bigger star upon returning to Japan. That type of stuff will be good for the ecosystem of professional wrestling globablly if Khan can continue to get excursions and put them over without sacrificing his own stars in the process.
  24. Funny enough, my dad has worked for a local TV station as the sportscaster and he isn't under any sort of a contract - but the contract thing is 100%. I just got off the phone with him to see what he thought on this, and they CAN release people on grounds of declining ratings and such. They do have severance packages and stuff of that nature, but a quick five minute talk with him showed me it really is a lot similar than I thought. There's a lot of neuance within it though, because a few companies own a lot of stations so it allows for people to talk with other stations who are under their current owners companies umbrella.
