  1. The opener was finisher spam nonsense, but the post-match with Drew/Punk and Priest’s cash-in was great.

The six man and Styles/Knight were certainly matches that happened.

U.S. Title 3-Way was really fun, though the hokey random “influencer” in the Prime bottle gimmick has certainly run its course.

Bayley/Io ruled, MOTN for sure. Very cool to see Bayley get her WM moment.

Main was better than expected after the fucking slog last night. The absolute nerfing of Seth seemed unnecessary, and can’t help but wish it would’ve been Austin instead of Taker, but overall it definitely delivered.

Star of the night, John Cena’s bald spot.

It's got to be REALLY depressing to be Jericho, be playing a face (Not sure why he thinks going back to the terrible Lionheart moniker and old music will help...might as well go back to "Christian" Chris Jericho...), wrestling in Canada, and getting booed and having them cheer Hook over you (Not that Hook is bad or anyone uncheerable, but this is Jericho in Canada!).

I think he's turned heel on so many people recently that no one is buying this face run as anything but building up some goodwill before another turn, as well as the allegations against him creating a tidal wave of aminosity/indifference. I think the best thing for him would be to form another faction with under-appreciated guys/gals or maybe a reunion with Callis and go after the tag titles. Or maybe have his new faction invade and take over ROH and move him into a special attraction/manager role.

Others have certainly mentioned it before, but he’s very very very overdue for a break from TV. A long one. His character is beyond stale and every turn and character tweak only makes things more muddled. Even him putting over young guys now is largely met with shrugs and never really serves to elevate anyone. Keep him around backstage, even on commentary if they must, but the audience definitely needs time to (hopefully?) start missing him again.

I'm not sure how we arrived there. There's not a single imposing or intimidating thing about the Best Friends, and I believe their importance to AEW, with the exception of Orange Cassidy, is vastly overestimated. If that means I want to fuck Miro... I could do a lot worse, I guess.

I realize this is your schtick when it comes to Cole, the Bucks, etc. but it’s just such a weird fucking take.

As a 42 year old relatively beefy guy, there’s plenty of dudes I don’t find “imposing” or “intimidating”. Top Flight, Kommander, Fenix, Swerve, to name a few. I sure do like watching them wrestle though. Not being a fan is fine, whatever, different strokes, but having that reason being because you wouldn’t be scared to fight them is really bizarre. It’s fake dude.

If legit that Okada contract is almost indefensible from AEW... but screw that go get that bag Okada!

It’s not your money, so, who gives a shit?

Why are wrestling fans so obsessed with the financials of billionaires?

Sting retires, Danielson goes part time, Mox goes on vacations with his built up PTO. Instead of the Smackdown Six, who do we have as the Elite Eight in the next year or two? The wrestlers To y Khan will revolve his main programs around.

Swerve, Okada, Ospreay, Jay White, Takeshita, Daniel Garcia, Rush, Darby

Throw him in. There's too many ppl protected as it is. Nobody wants to see King get lost in the 'In Action' vortex - home to the likes of Will Hobbs and Wardy.

You’re right, I don’t, especially since Brody is light years ahead of both those guys.

I went from being a dedicated, vocal and educated fan of UFC (and MMA in general) to never watching, nor wanting to watch, that shit, in a span of just a few years. There were minor issues for me (like Dana cosying up to Trump and Joe Rogan gradually getting douchier), but the main factor was their not severing ties with that POS Conor McGregor when word started to get around here in Ireland that he had, on at least two occasions, perpetrated serious and extremely violent sexual assaults on women (and bear in mind these alleged rapes took place years before the 2023 NBA bathroom incident). Promoters need to stop treating their drawing cards as teflon. They've done wrong? Fuck 'em. But, y'know, corporate greed and all...

100% same. Had been an avid fan since I was a kid, renting the old pre-Zuffa UFC tapes from my local video store. Started to tune out a bit after the ESPN-era started bc it just become way too time consuming to keep up with all the shows they were running, but still happily gave them my money for the bigger PPV cards and still paid attention online. But these days between Dana, Rogan, Colby, Strickland, et all it’s turned full on MAGA chud and I have absolutely no interest anymore. I still like fights, but absolutely will not support that company in any way.

Along those same lines... Black Taurus recently popped up for a couple matches in AEW. He had been regularly working for AAA and Impact, but was not under contract. Apparently he has either signed with or will be regularly appearing for AEW/ROH going forward and no longer taking AAA bookings, so AAA went after him for using the "Black Taurus" name.  Some future AAA lineups are out advertising a "Black Taurus", so either he is being false advertised, or AAA is going to put someone else under the mask.

His socials say “Taurus” and “Taurus Rivera”, maybe one of those will be his name in AEW?

Short version is, supposedly the deal between AEW and CMLL is that the CMLL talent can't be on the same show as AAA talent.

Now, what starts to make the answer longer and rambling is who and what qualifies as AAA talent.  AAA really only runs 25-30 shows a year, their TV tapings. So, they actually have very few wrestlers under contract. Of all the "AAA wrestlers" that appear on AEW, only Hijo del Vikingo is under contract to AAA.  Pentagon, Fenix, and Bandido are all under AEW contract.  Kommander is straight up freelance, as is pretty much any other lucahdor that had shown up to AEW previously.

Fairly certain Kommander is under AEW contact as well.

  10. That crowd was so hot for Hangman/Swerve, set the vibe for the whole night. So awesome.

I’ve been pretty bored with the BCC for a while now, but this CMLL feud coming out of nowhere has ruled ass so far.

Main was great. Definitely telegraphed the title change with Sting’s kids being there, still super fun though. Just really hope it doesn’t all end with the Bucks holding the belts again.

As for titles/tournaments, I’m betting next up is women’s tag titles with that being featured on Collision (given that they’ve started running two women’s matches there). They’ve already been selling a Julia Hart-Skye Blue shirt. Also gives Britt something to do.

On one hand, the last fucking thing this company needs is more belts, but, I certainly would give a lot of the women more to do (in theory). Plus they’ve got a lot of them quasi-paired up already anyway.

Stat/Willow, Saraya/Ruby, Julia/Skye, Tay/Jay, Britt/Hayter, Mercedes/Diamanté, Athena/Billie, Nyla/Marina, etc. Throw in some combo of Shida/Riho/Emi or Red Velvet/Kiera/Leila Grey. Have a monster heel team with Megan Bayne/Kamille if they bring her in. They’ve certainly got plenty of options.

  12. I don’t really care about D’Amore one way or the other, but for a company that finally seemed to be back on the right track and getting some positive buzz again, this seems very strange.

Seems like most there had really bought in to what he was doing, will be interesting to see who else follows him out the door.

  13. Add Mick Foley to the list of gross Attitude Era stars whatabouting all the “great memories” Vince helped create.

“He sure was [a part of my favorite WrestleMania moments]. Man, he was a huge part of it. His belief in me made all the difference in the world, from just being another guy to being one of his main guys during that Attitude Era, and anyone who’s listened to a single episode knows the fondness I have for Mr. McMahon, but…I don’t know all the facts. But man, it’s really ugly. I feel some very similar, just like that dead inside feeling, the way I had in 2007, after the Benoit murders. Man, I hope it doesn’t take away from people’s amazing memories of all the things that Mr. McMahon created or helped create, including my character and the programs that I was in. He was such a big part of it. I wish he’d really just stepped aside the first time we heard a little hint of these allegations. I believe you brought up the RAINN hotline [on other podcasts]. I was a volunteer on the hotline for two years, so I know the great work they do, and if somebody has a workplace difficulty or has a difficulty in their personal life, or have been the survivor of an assault, then RAINN.org is a great place to go to look for help,"

Seeing Ortiz in the Collision main reminds me, what's Santana doing since coming back?  And is it any better or more successful than he could have been just being cool and sticking with Ortiz? Ortiz is now just slotted as being a lower carder who will get a TV match now and then.  But Santana doesn't even have that.  Meanwhile, I feel like together they' d absolutely be getting more TV time.

I totally understand wanting to bet on yourself to see where it gets you, but as Dirty Harry said, a man's got to know his limitations.

Yeah I mean, it’s pretty clear any plans TK had for them were as a team, and rightfully so. Had Santana not gotten hurt and then had the alleged falling out with Ortiz I have no doubt they would’ve had a tag title run by now. But as singles guys? What’s the value really?

  15. The team was winning in spite of Griffin. He was bringing absolutely nothing to the table and was in way over his head with this job, obviously a mistake to hire him in the first place. Strong rumors he was clashing with Giannis, Dame, and others. Dude had zero respect from the room. For a team with championship aspirations, it had to be done.

Edited to add, Horst also brought in Terry Stotts in the off-season to help with Dame’s transition and to be a vet assistant to help Griffin along but Stotts didn’t even last the summer before he threw in the towel.
