Headbutt spot aside that was a hell of a performance by Saya. She really tore it up with Chanyota. Her Ishii influence keeps becoming more and more apparent.

I'm not as well-versed in joshi as everybody else here but I think I've got a top three. And because I'm me, they're all gorefests.
3. Hokuto vs. Kandori
2. Kudo vs. Combat retirement match
and #1 with a bullet...
1. Aja vs. KAORU.
I recall picking up bootleg copy of the FMW 5 5 1996 tape at an IWA MS show and my friends and watched it after we drove back late into the wee hours. They were doubtful about how good a women's death match would be. Those doubts were erased very quickly.

Just watched highlights of Ibuki Hoshi vs Mifu Ashida for the ICExInfinity Championship...good lord Hoshi made mincemeat out of Ashida's chest with chops. It looked like she made a good showing of herself, but she paid some heavy dues in pain.

So on the Samurai TV anniversary show, there was supposed to be an "elders vs. second generation" match, with Kyusei Sakura Hirota, Haumko Hoshi, and Ayako Sato against Ibuki Hoshi, Kizuna Tanaka, and Arisa Shinose. Kizuna suffered an injury and was unable to compete, but she promised she'd bring a suitable second-generation replacement.
She brought...
I'd say that was suitable.
SpoilerThese little teases keep me hopeful for a possible part time return.

QUEEN VALKYRIE ended up beating Ibuki Hoshi & Kaho Matsushita for the vacant International Ribbon Tag Titles, with Kaho dropping the fall to YuuRI. Ancham said that she wants an Ice Ribbon team to challenge them and try to take the belts away, but no challengers have come forward just yet.
Ibuki rebounded two matches later and successfully retained the Infinity Title against Mifu Ashida, but Mifu lasted just under twenty minutes and has been getting rave reviews for her performance, with a lot of comparisons being made to Tsukasa Fujimoto. The potential is definitely there, Mifu has looked great for someone who's only had ten matches. The company itself, thankfully, isn't drawing the comparisons to Tsukka (that's way too much pressure to put on someone). Hopefully Mifu can continue her progression... it'll be fun to see what she does next.
As for Ibuki, her Ribbonmania title defense for 12/31 is already set, as she was challenged by Kaho Matsushita. For the next challenger to be set two months in advance is pretty unusual, but Ribbonmania is a banner show for Ice Ribbon so it's nice to see the main already set. Ibuki and Kaho had a strong series of matches in the spring, so bringing it back with higher stakes is certainly welcome.
I appreciate the Ice Ribbon updates and analysis. I mostly just catch the digest clips on YouTube so more context is appreciated. Good to see the company able to move forward despite not having some of the bigger name talent of the past. I have been doing a historical watch and just got to the time Team DATE debuted. Seems like a weird little experiment that just didn't have legs to last.

But then there's the curveball of Hiroyo Matsumoto showing back up after being gone for almost all of 2022, and participating at Hamuko's Mother's Day event this year. I wonder if it's just a one-time appearance or if there's more at hand.
Having seen ZONES and Matsumoto team up in Oz Academy it would be cool if they became a semi-reguler team across different promotions. I think they vibe with similar power styles and attitude.

They understand their target audience?
Fair enough. Guess that ain't me. Although seeing Natsuki Taiyo work outside of her usual referee role was cool.

The whole thing felt like a weird fan boy playing dress up dolls with his favorite joshi. The whole vibe was just felt off to me instead of it being fun.

VENY vs Utami should be great, but I am equally excited by the prospect of Kaho Kobayashi and AZM mixing it up High Speed style in the six woman tag.

The new American joshi company the news sites have been teasing finally announced themselves and their first show officially.

Looks like a Lucha Underground type of thing.
They have a lot of great talent on board, but I would say I am cautiously optimistic. The LU approach can be a lot of fun or embarrassingly bad.

ZONES, you mean? She's pretty rad. The look is there and once the rest starts to mesh I think she'll be the best of the three.
Yes...not sure where Spaces came from.

Chi Chi is... well. I'll be polite. I've seen several of her matches now and she is definitely a rookie. Needs a lot of seasoning.
I would agree. I do think the effort is there, but I found SPACES and Sunny to be a bit stronger just to compare her to her Evolution peers.

I'm officially sick of the Mina Shirakawa push and at this point just want her to go away. I don't know what happened to cause this but... it happened.
I used to like her in a way but the super push has turned me off. Her winning the Wonder belt just made me think of Billy Gunn winning KOTR for some reason

I feel the same way unfortunately. I really enjoyed her turn to a more technical wrestler working over the knee in matches. Then the injury happened. Since her reinvention as the leader of Club Venus, a unit I also don't care for all that much, I have lost interest.

Regarding the rookie debuts at New Blood I thought Aya was solid, but was really surprised by how polished HANAKO looked. There is some potential for a really fun tag pairing with her and Lady C in the future.

Somebody tell Billie Starkz that Mei St. Michele should not be a base to do a top rope senton to the floor on. She is tiny and will not catch you.
Yeah that was for sure a spot the wrestlers at ringside should have helped on.

I know it probably isn't everyone's cup of tea, but amidst all the goofy fun of the latest Baka Gaijin show, Chris Brookes and Maya Yukihi had an absolute banger of a match.

I had a blast watching the All Star Junior Festival. So cool to see so many companies represented and some lesser known talent given a showcase to shine. Also you can really feel how much the crowd is enjoying being able to cheer and shout again. Korakuen was rocking.

Blindsided by this announcement. Hate to hear it, but glad it isn't due to injury. I hope she has a healthy and happy next phase of her life. Thank you Himeka.

Maya Yukihi, Ram Kaicho(w) and Maika Ozaki are now called Rebel x Enemy because everyone needs a team/unit name in Stardom.
Rebel x Enemy has been a unit for a couple of years...why wouldn't they go by that name in Stardom as well?

There was no ultimate. She just said Waka was missing something and needed to figure out what it was herself.
Seems like Nanae Takahashi will play a role in Waka finding her Passion.

Stardom Goddesses Tag League Finals
Spoiler7Upp winning was disappointing for me as a fan and it seemed to be met with apathy from the crowd at the show. Neo Stardom Army just isn't that interesting to me or well defined as an invading unit. I enjoyed a lot of the matches in the tourney and particularly liked BMI2000's strong showing, so the finals were definitely underwhelming.

I didn't think the cast of Taxi liked Kaufman that much to want to defend him. Danza went to college on a wrestling scholarship, made it to the New York Golden Gloves finals(not sure which class) and had a 9-3 pro boxing record, there's a very good chance he could have handled Lawler.
You have to take it all with a big grain of salt of course. The whole thing would have a bad idea. Danza kicks Lawler's ass and it kills Memphis, Lawler pulls out Danza's eye it kills Memphis. Lose/lose situation.

While it is a great get for Stardom, I am really going to miss her in other promotions. Especially Oz Academy where she gets to have fun heeling it up in Ozaki-gun.
