The real telling point of Friday's episode was when "redneck liberal" Trae Caldwell came on and was all "the people in the South and Midwest have real problems and the Democrats do need to help them and speak more directly to them, instead of leaving them to just fend for themselves" and MTV News' Ana Marie Cox was all "Well, these people can just fuck off and die of starvation, these people are white so the hell with them." It's a definite example of the oncoming civil war the Dems are facing.

Very surprised to read Kevin's hope for 2020. I'm personally getting a very strong "George McGovern 1972: Party of Acid, Amnesty, and Abortion" vibe from the current Democratic Party. I would fully expect the Dems to tear themselves apart over the next 4-8 years as the Bernie Socialists try to seize control of the party and push for a more radical, left wing agenda and the remaining Establishment and Centrist Democrats push back and try to hang on to power, all while the Republicans continue to control the Senate and House. The Democrats may win the White House in 2020 ala Jimmy Carter and Watergate, but I can see the actual power in Washington remaining with the GOP for the next decade or so as the Democratic Party wanders through the wilderness ala the Walter Mondale/Michael Dukakis years.

I loved Robert Vaughn. One of those rare charactor actors like Christopher Lee or Donald Pleasance where they would take any job for money and would turn in a competent, quality performance no matter how bad the script. You want him to play the villian in BASEketball? No problem, so long as the price is right. You want him to fly over to England and spend two weeks going on morning chat shows to promote the release of The Man from U.N.C.L.E on Region 2 DVD? If the plane tickets are first class and the hotel accomodations are nice, you've got a deal. You want him to advertise your ambulance chasing law firm? Just make sure the check clears. Rest in peace to an actor who truly embodied the term "professional."

This is the problem with Millennials, they think that simply Tweeting about something will bring about radical social change. You have to take physical action to change the system itself to make things better. Martin Luther King gave many speeches, but he also staged sit-ins and worked within the legal system to force change. Simply sitting on your ass and not voting, or taking a knee during what was originally a British drinking song, does nothing.
