  1. I dont' know if there is more to the interview but all this really says is that he was beside himself when he got the part. I think its just as possible that he broke down because it was a HUGE role for him and could easily lead to more roles like that. Not too mention the payday and other things.
  2. DC TV has been killing it. The movies have been about 50/50. The Batman Trilogy was great, Man of Steel, Green Lantern not so much. I think its the opposite way with Marvel although some people have mentioned SHIELD getting better but what little I've seen of it it couldn't get less dull and uninteresting so there was only one way to go.
  3. I agree the Flash is similar to smallville which I couldn't really get behind. I think I just find the Flash character more interesting and with the chance of Arrow crossovers for me it seems like it should be fun. I'm a huge Constantine fan and I still haven't watched the pilot I need to acquire it soon though.
  4. I think thats my concern with Marvel Agents of Shield is that its just a bunch of faceless no name people or z level heros. With Arrow and now Flash and possibly Constantine and me not even really liking Avengers that much I haven't watched it. Now I'm sure I will at some point but I've not seen or heard anything that interests me when it comes to the show.
  5. I've never seen Avatar. I've never seen an episode of Seinfield. Never seen an episode of Sons of Anarchy.
  6. I caught the last half of Captain America on July 4th and I have to say that movie is in very serious contention for the best movie in this Marvel Universe. I think what puts it over the edge for me is that I buy into Red Skull as an adversary than I ever did Obediah. Outside of Iron Man being RDJ improv for two hours I'm not sure the overall feel to that movie is as solid as the first Captain America. Now that being said I haven't seen Thor 2 or Winter Soldier. Captain America just for me captures the perfect feel of what its going for.
  7. So over the weekend I watched Escape Plan, Awkward Moment, Neighbors, Zero Charisma and Wolf on Wallstreet. Escape plan was dull and I'm still not sure how it really made any sense. Why even convince this guy that this is a "job" if you're going to show up in a black van, taze him and send him off anyway. Seems like it would be LESS traceable if you did that. I'm also not clear on how Arnold's daughter in the movie is the girl to set this whole thing up to break him out. That entire thing doesn't make sense. Why would the partner who is hooked up with the guy running the prison even be involved with her if she's not really involved with it. Also if Arnold really is this guy that they all want in prison and they think he's just a guy with knowledge of the guy. So if they know enough to know he knows the guy how do they not know that he's the guy? Anyway pretty much none of the movie made sense for more than fifteen seconds. Even at the start Sly is capture and before he's even admitted into the prison he's all giving away his release number to get the fuck out? If this guy is the baddest prison break guy ever and the entire thing is predicated on the warden of these places not knowing who he is then why would he attempt to blow his cover right when he got to the prison. The entire movie was just pretty awful and its a bummer since isn't this the first time they have co starred in a movie together? Outside of Expendable cameos? Awkward Moment wasn't funny at all but it seemed like a harmless, pretty accurate details on guys that just hang out, play video games and fuck around with a "roster" of women. Outside of that it was mind numbingly boring and predictable with just a few, brief funny moments. Neighbors was awesome. Zero Charisma wasn't too bad except for the weird ending. He freaks out during the first game night at Miles house and then it seems like we just rush to the end. His mom for some reason just up and sells the house so that her daughter who she never sees can get rid of debt she has so she can marry some guy then Miles turns into a bad guy kinda, and then the movie just sort of ends. Really fun movie ironically enough it had more "awkward moments" than the movie with that in the title did. In fact the movie seemed to be a string of these awkward moments and I never really knew where they were going with it but it was fun and interesting on how awkward watching Scott was until the random last 20 minutes. The Wolf on Wallstreet was not what I was expecting and there was no way it needed to be over three hours long. I thought it was a can't miss movie and it missed pretty badly in my mind. Honestly it didn't feel like there was hardly any story to it and it was mostly just "watch Leo and Jonah play these eccentric characters in the backdrop of the wacky coke induced 80's." Which might have been a fun hour and a half movie but it was not a three hour movie and it was not the epic Leo/Scorsese movie that I was expecting.
  8. I'm about to but I'm concerned. I love Constantine but I'm afraid they'll fuck it up.
  9. Is Atlantis any good? The premise sounds right up my alley.
  10. I still to this day have no idea how he garnered any following at all let alone made any money in writing.
  11. I feel like I watched the whole damn movie which I guess is best since I wasn't going to see it anyway.
  12. I spoke on this before. I think a large problem with Star Wars is that a lot of people that dislike the prequels to the degree that they do are people that were KIDS or even teenagers when the first ones came out. When the first set of Star Wars movies came out I wasn't even born but its under my impression that it was just INSANE as far as special effects, the the scope of the movies. Didn't it damn near invent the big budget summer blockbuster flick? So as a kid watching that and then watching it hundreds of times over the years. You mentioned being in college around the early 90's. So of course when the prequels came out you were like "I'm watching a giant toy commercial" but if you were 12 or maybe even 15 years old the chances of you saying "I'm watching a giant toy commercial" would be close to zero because your mind doesn't work that way. Honestly in the history of the universe how many times has someone said "you know I idolized this certain subject as a child and now that I'm 30 years older and you've added onto it I like the new stuff BETTER". It doesn't happen that way. Look at pro wrestling, movies, music, etc. How many people today say "Man the music these days doesn't compare with when I was a kid" meanwhile kids absolutely love the stuff. I think its just a matter of age. How many 10 or 12 year olds that saw the Prequels watched them and thought "man these suck" obviously not many since the movies made a ton of money and kids bought a ton of toys. Its all just a matter of context. Do older people hate the movies? Yeah sure but lets face it even if Lucas made a flawless movie you're still not going to get the same feeling watching it as you did when you were 12 years old. As I said before. The movies debuted five years before I was born and I didn't watch them until the remastered VHS tapes came out when I was like 10 or 11. I thought they were ok but I wasn't running out to buy Star Wars toys. The first movie is ok if not a bit dull in parts. The second movie is pretty cool and I did enjoy it from the first scene on. The third movie was no better than Phantom Menace as far as toy commercial spots go. So yeah being removed from the media by about 15 years before I watched it the movies weren't the insane, end all be all flicks that people who watched them when they debuted felt they were. The originals were slightly above average movies and the prequels were adequate summer blockbusters.
  13. I don't hate any of them. In fact I don't mind any of them. I have my complaints about all three but lets not pretend like the first three movies are flawless. I think a lot of it has to do with the people who aren't fans of these movies grew up with the first set of movies and I have rarely seen anything from movies, to wrestling, to music where people say "I like this stuff that came out 20 years after the things I loved as a child". I don't mind them. I actually watch them every couple of years when Spike runs their Star Wars marathon.
  14. The end of Toy Story 3 and there was also a time when Juno was in theaters me and my wife were months away from expecting our first child and I balled like a baby during the delivery process. Fucking Juno made me cry.
  15. They are saying that it may delay the release date until Memorial Day which would leave Disney without a tentpole for Christmas of next year. I was pretty amped up about the movie until I learned that Ford is apparently the main focus of the movie. I really don't care to see a 70 year old Han Solo as the main character in a Star Wars movie. I was hoping for a focus on NEW characters. I didn't care if it was from the EU or something completely different but its been almost 40 years based on the same core story.
  16. I watched the Flash pilot it was pretty good. Better than the Arrow pilot.
  17. So after watching two of the Netflix original series and hearing so much about Amazon Primes original content I googled what was coming up. For Amazon not a lot looked interesting but Ripper Street caught my eye. I read about it on wiki and it says that it got mixed reviews at best. It compared it to whitechapel which I also googled and didn't see how they could be that similar. From what I gather one takes place while Jack is committing the murders and lasts for two seaskns. The other is about a modern day copycat and lasts for about a third of that. So is Ripper Street worth checking out? Does it have any redeeming qualities?
  18. I just finished the season and I thought it wasn't near as good as the first season. The first season had me going through each episode waiting for the next. This season was really dull. I know I'm not supposed to like V but I don't enjoy a show where we go an entire season without the villain getting ANYTHING done to her. I mean V felt like Triple H circa 2003 for me. I have a lot of complaints about the show but my biggest complaint is that I think the show has too many stories going on. We go multiple episodes not seeing storylines advanced at all. Hell I'm struggling to really figure out what Piper did all season. She did some investigation that seemingly went no where. I'll come back for a third season but it won't be a day one watch for me. I waited 12 episodes for what exactly? I heard great things about season 2 and I loved season 1 but I was pretty let down. Maybe part of my issue is that I binge watched this and Game of Thrones at the same time. Atleast now I'm looking forward to Hemlock Grove the other only Netflix series I watch. I wasn't impressed with the ending of the 1st season but the second season can't bore me anymore than this season of OITNB.
  19. How many fans actually dislike Laurel? Last time I saw a random poll most still preferred her with Ollie than Sara with Ollie. And I don't blame the actress so much as the bad writing of the character for a good chunk of S2. Also if I'm being honest Ollie had way more chemistry with Shado and Felicity than he did with Sara or Laurel. Sara had more chemistry with Nyssa than she did Ollie. Also they avoided the pitfall of killing Sara off for now so I'm not sure why you are worried there. Ollie didn't leave Laurel to date Sara. He cheated on Laurel with Sara pretty much as self-sabotage as he wasn't ready for commitment. She wasn't even aware of them dating until after Moira revealed Sara was on the boat to the family. Again though your statements do go to my point of the bad writing for Laurel's character. She forgot and forgave way too easily. Yeah and thats where I was with it, not only did she forget and forgive but now he's banging her sister again and I'm a million percent sure that they will wind up getting back together. So then he will have double dipped the sisters TWICE and be on his third round. I agree its just bad writing of her character and maybe bad writing to have them hook up at all. Or even him hook up with Sara again. I think a long road to redemption showing that he's a changed guy, etc etc and THEN they get back together but even then I'd be all like "why are you with the guy that cheated on you with his sister" I would think that would be a top three unforgivable offense and especially in the world of television it would be impossible for me to have sympathy for that character or even root for that character. Anyway all that bitching aside I was highly enjoying these bad guys of the week storylines. So they have never really made any effort to make the Count a credible threat for more than one episode at a time (when he could have easily carried an entire season as the big bad) and with Slade I'm assuming going to die that leaves what Merlin again as the big bad? I don't think I know of a single credible villian outside of the Count, Merlyn and Deathstroke. So having made one a jobber, killed one, and last I checked atleast making one more of an anti hero than straight up villian I'm curious to see where else they go with this. I'm assuming Merlyn will be the big bad again in Season 3 unless there is some other big bad that I don't know Arrow has.
  20. Yeah T4 put me to sleep I wanted to like it but I just didn't.
  21. I don't think that Sara is way hotter than Laurel but I agree she's a lot more interesting. I still maintain that even for me a guy who doesn't really give a shit about the love triangle its hard for me to get behind Laurel wanting anything to do with him what so ever outside of a possible acquaintance friendship. I mean he left her to cheat on her with her sister and while doing that as far as she knew she died. I cannot imagine how in the world anyone would want to get behind someone willing to forget ALL of that and begin sleeping with him just months after he pops back up and pretty much from the get go the writers start pushing the dialogue in a "will they or won't they" way. I agree she's the way better character but I don't think she's more attractive. In fact I think that out of Felicity, Thea, Laurel, Sara and even Moria hell even Digglers gf that Sara is the least attractive girl on the show. I don't like whatever the fuck they did with Laurel's hair though they made it blonde or some shit.
  22. I don't think he treats her like shit but she acts like a love sick puppy around him constantly. I think a tough part of this story is that Ollie broke up with Laurel to sleep with her SISTER who then DIED as far as anyone knew while they were running off on a boat to sleep together. So then he comes back home and even though I can't imagine an earth where not only to you sleep with a girls sister but she DIES while she's with you that you could ever date the other sister again. But here he is sleeping with her just months seemingly after returning to Starling City. THEN surprise the sister is here again and he starts sleeping with THAT sister again. I have not seen the ending of the season but I'm betting that The Black Canary dies and they start back up the Laurel love story again. Its the thing I like least about the show. They wrote themselves into a corner making Ollie commit some pretty disgusting acts in his "previous life". It takes a lot away from the show in my opinion. I guess they just aren't very good about being subtle that Ollie is gods gift to women with three women constantly falling over themselves for him on this show. Maybe thats where the CW aspect of this show comes into play because outside of that its really not like the other CW shows.
  23. I think Diggler gets treated like shit. You got Black Canary, you got Arrow, you got even Laurel who does bad ass fighting moves of her own and then you got Special Forces Diggler. Who is ALWAYS in trouble and to the best of my knowledge has never bested a single villian. I love the guy but I'm not sure what purpose he serves when he's playing special forces in distress all the time. Also the chick playing Black Canary is maybe the least attractive woman on the show including Moria. I have one episode left and I feel like this Slade thing has draaaaaaged. I felt like watching Ollie sign over his CEO status to Isabel was like watching Sting getting turned on by ANOTHER of his best friends. You've seen it coming since the first scene.
  24. My daughter wanted to watch a "Batman" movie tonight and so I asked her which one and she picked the Joker. So we watched TDK and since I've seen this movie so many times and I really wanted to finish my season of Arrow tonight with a six episode binge watch I wasn't that interested in the movie. A few scenes I never understood. When Lucius goes to China and he leaves his cell phone with security. He has another cell phone on him, it goes off, the guy gets upset and he just turns it down. I guess my first question would be if the guy freaks out about him having a cell phone and he's not supposed to have it why would he be allowed to just shuffle it right back into his pocket? Secondly when he comes back down stairs to get his phone the guy tries to give him the other phone and he shows he has his phone. I always understood this to be because he wanted that phone to stay put there so they can do the blackout thing. However why would he need a second phone to get that point across? Just tell the guy thats not your phone and move on with your business. Earlier of course in the movie the sky hook guy flies Bruce Wayne presumably into China. How in the hell would a guy from Arizona fly some random ass plane into CHINA and drop off Bruce Wayne. How would another guy or the same guy I'm not real clear then fly back into China and not only pick him up but pick him up as BATMAN? I think my other complaint is that the Joker makes this big deal about unmasking Batman and a large part of the movie is built around the whole "killing someone every day until you unmask" only for him to turn around and say he DOESN'T want him unmasked. I understand its the Joker and all it just felt like a strange twist in the movie that I never fully enjoyed. Of course going back and watching this movie its really fucking long. The first 3/4 of the movie outside of the weird China scene for me it feels like every scene is important and it doesn't drag. Then seemingly right after the big explosion thats where the movie starts to lose me. It feels like after that the Joker almost becames second banana. He turns Harvey which I get is a big deal and then thats kinda it. He has an anti climatic fight with Batman and then we get 20 minutes of Two Face. For my money I would have liked to see things go a different way after the explosion. Anyway these are the things you think about when you watch a movie hundreds of times. Just random questions
