  1. The latest The Orville episode might have been the best of this season yet. The story was as classic Star Trek as it gets: There was some earlier stuff of this season that was a bit hit and miss (too much Moclan stuff, using one race both for comic-relief/Klingon-rites-parody as well as investigating sociological issues, just does not work; the romance between the doctor and Isaac also did not really work for me, it went too far too fast, seemed to be a big stretch and was not necessary for the Kaylon two-parter), but they seem to be on a run with the last three episodes right now.
  2. I think the only Bandido match I have ever seen was a 4 tag team elimination match in Dragon Gate where he an Flamita stunk up the place. The only thing they did was throwing out big spots without any rhyme or reason to almost no reaction of the crowd.
  3. Thanks for posting that spoiler without using spoiler-tags (stating that there was a title change at the last taping already is a spoiler, considering that there was only one show left of that taping to air and that show only having one title match announced is just the icing on the cake).
  4. After some suggestions I got Dragon Quest XI and I love the heck out of this game. The game is as old-school as it gets. I have seen people calling it a SNES game for PS4. I would not go that far, more like a PSX game for PS4 (with PS3+ level graphics). From a gameplay point-of-view they streamlined a lot of mechanics that often lead to frustrations: you can within a second (plus a loading screen) revisit (almost) any place you have visited in the past, all party members get EXP, independent if they are in the active party and there (almost) no random encounters (except when travelling on sea). I am 80 hours or so in the game and am considering if I should go for the platinum. There seems to be only one trophy, that seems to be time consuming to get, the rest is quite fair.
  5. The last episode was really weird. I think that this season peaked somewhere in the middle and dragged on towards the end, as if they ran out of ideas halfway through. One thing: if the chumpstain challenge is not worked (and so far I never had the feeling that it was), then the Tommy Dreamer quiz had to be really frightening for Christian.
  6. Ganz was also considered one of the best German speaking stage actors of his generation. He was the holder of the so-called Iffland-ring that should signify the best German speaking stage actor and is passed on after the death of the holder to his chosen successor. He also had quite some notable movie roles before Downfall, for example in Werner Herzog's Nosferatu or in Wim Wenders Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire). Looking at the list of director's that he worked with it's almost strange that he never placed in a Michael Haneke film.
  7. Why are they trying to sell a Best of TakeOver 2018 DVD / Blu-Ray set on a WWE Network show? That was a very weirdly placed commercial.
  8. A big problem is that he already had some bad injuries before he even was signed and was already somewhat broken down and he probably just is not a guy who adapted that well to physical limitations.
  9. Does he? Are six years on the main roster, where for the first year or two I would expect him not making a ton, enough for fuck you money? I suppose it depends how he plans to spend the rest of his life. If he has fuck you money, good for him.
  10. Either that or after the first couple of spots they could have had officials enter and show her out.
  11. Sadly the two Rumbles seemed to have been booked by different groups that barely talked to each other. Otherwise they would have realized there inconsistency with Nia entering the men's Rumble. Becky was not the one laying out Lana plus she needed an official (Finlay) to give her the okay to enter the Rumble. In addition with more talk we would not have had two Kofi spots in EACH Rumble (with the most impressive one being the first one (Naomi's one)).
  12. I agree, that Game of Thrones stuff probably seemed funny on paper but the only funny thing was "Al Snow". The podcast thing was okay but not more. It would have been better if they had somehow made an "All American Boys" joke.
  13. I am not sure if I would blame the actress. Vulcans in Star Trek have been way more often on the "miss" side (I realize that the character is actually human, but the character is represented in mostly acting like a Vulcan). Which other regular characters are on the show that are worth a damn? Saru is decent and Stamets is okay. Tilly is just annoying and I there is that woman at helm whose only character is that she looks like some Borg-reject. Regarding the Orville discussion: the first couple of episodes of the first series were quite heavy on Star Trek parody, later they tunes it down. Though there are still the occasional scenes and gags that feel more like Futurama than Star Trek.
  14. No, it's not. I was watching the first episode of season 2 of Discovery yesterday and that thing was soooooo boring. I don't know why I am still watching Discovery, at this point it reaches hate-watching levels. There has been boring Star Trek in the past, but then it was filler episodes that looked like they did not cost much to produce. This one was the season start and looked expensive as hell. There are no characters worth emotionally being invested in (hell, there are hardly any fleshed out characters at all) and the story is just a whole lot of nothing. I have hoped with the Klingon bullshit gone, the series would improve but nope. The season preview clipshow at the end looked even worse than this episode which is saying much.
  15. If the PS3 / PS4 UI / feature set is considered user friendly I shudder to think how other Network apps work.
  16. Come on, If you give up now you will miss all the fun of spending hours of literally farming magic (which you will never end up using because the game system punished you for doing so), finding out that the worst thing you could do is farm EXP early on (even though it does not matter, as even the supposedly extra-hard bonus boss is relatively easy to beat) and enjoying the complete and utter mess the "story" of this game is (a program doing machine learning on Anime could come up with a better and more coherent story and more interesting and relatable characters).
  17. I know we are not supposed to talk about politics here, but I am currently watching the Brexit vote in the UK parliament and I don't think I have ever seen anything as bizarre as the proceedings there. The speaker of the house is a miscast standup comedian ("The house must get calm, zen!") / town crier ("ODDAAAAAAAH!", "DIVISION", "LOCK THE DOORS"), a first round of vote is done by shouting as loud as you can and the final vote is done by walking through one of two doors (unless you want to abstain, then you have to pass both doors in succession).
  18. Nigel's story shows how weird life sometimes can be. If you hear of a wrestler who has to retire young you think about concussions (which was everybody's assumption back then), neck injuries, back problems or destroyed knees. Nigel not getting signed due to an (apparently not even serious) shoulder injury and getting fired due to Hep B seems to be out-of-the norm. He is by far not the first wrestler catching Hep B (Jumbo, Abby and Bob Orton Jr. come to mind, Waltman has Hep C, I think), but still. It's really interesting that they did a documentary for Nigel, who is not a (pushed) performer, not even a former WWE wrestler. There could be multiple reasons for this (e.g. Nigel is REALLY well liked, there are plans for an in-ring comeback or simply someone in charge thought that this was just a great story to tell). Also as an aspiring indy wrestler you could draw the wrong conclusions from this documentary (always lie in your physical).
  19. That Tommy stuff is the kind of humor that I usually don't like (the kind of humor that only Vince finds funny), though somehow this works perfectly on this show. Tommy as the young girl almost had me in tears. Dzring the Okinawa scene while they went through the "oh, you speak Japanese" stuff, internally I was going for "please let him be called Kendo Nagasaki, please" and then they went their. So obvious yet (or maybe therefore) still great.
  20. If it's 81 "Hart Brothers" has to include Bret, right? I thought that there were issues with the rights to Stampede stuff if Bret is involved in the footage.
  21. I thought XIII-2 was a better game than XIII as it gives you much more freedom. Never having played XV (which I probably never will do) XII is my least-favorite FF game, the whole thing is so bland, no remarkable characters, a story that is both uninteresting and hard to follow at the same time. I am in the camp of IX being the best in the series, though I can also see people who did not like it as much. There are clear pluses (great presentation, charming characters, characters with completely different skillsets (the only PSX FF game to do so), addictive minigame (Chocobo hot-and-cold), nostalgic classic-fantasy setting, story that splits and joins in the early parts similar to VI) and minuses (no gameplay related innovations, story getting weird in the latter part of the games, no great bonus challenges like the weapons in VII, trance system is a bit random).
  22. Does that story work out time-line wise? Amazon only has the paperback version of the book and dates that at October 2005. I doubt that the hardcover version was that long before to fall into the WCW era.
  23. The highlight of the latest episode was Edge not knowing which Uso Naomi is married to. Stephen Amell's bit about how he began his Hollywood career as a fluffer was also great.
  24. So far I have seen the first round matches (as part of my new-years-resolution to watch more Japanese wrestling) and it's mostly short comedy matches (including a match where at the end all four competitors wrestled bareass, I did not think I would ever see a full-moon Space Flying Tiger Drop).
