A bit late with my 4 current wrestlers which represent what I enjoy at the moment, found it so hard to cut down to 4 as I have 6-8 (and I only really watch NJPW, AJPW, GLEAT and some local Australian stuff), but here goes..

El Desperado: Surprised he didn't make the list of guys having an amazing 2022, always tells a great story and can feel his passion in the ring. Might have my favourite moveset in wrestling currently and I'm a sucker for an awesome masked wrestler.

Hiromu Takahashi: Possibly the most charismatic wrestler in the world, he has the ability to just draw me into his matches through his fire and character. I think its his insanity and randomness that I enjoy the most with him.

Shingo Takagi: When I think of who in the companies I watch looks like the ideal wrestler, to me it is Shingo. He looks like a badass and backs it up with some incredible hard hitting matches. I do agree that sometimes things can feel too choreographed but that is a very minor criticism.

Matt Hayter: Robbie Eagles really isn't my Australian representative on my list! Matt Hayter is a wrestler out of RCW in Adelaide that does wrestle in Melbourne a lot, so this is really based on live experiences so I don't really know how he translates on camera. He's an absolute blast as a cocky, arrogant shit-heel. Decent in the ring but his character heel stuff is off the charts (at least live).

I don't think I ever appreciated El Desperado until the last few months. He's had a great year.

    For me,

Kevin Owens: He gets put into some of the legitimately dumbest segments on WWE television, yet to me, he never is worse for it. He reminds me of the people guests on the Muppet Show. He's still himself, even though he's put in an environment of sheer lunacy.

Shingo: I think he does everything well in his matches.

Nakamura/Boogs: The WWE-ized version of Nakamura is kind of boring, but teaming him up with a sidekick/bestie who looks like Freddie Mercury who shreds the guitar on their way to the ring shouldn't be this entertaining. I could watch them forever. It is definitely a case of the sum being greater than the parts.

CM Punk: One of the things that that has impressed me the most about his comeback is how he sticks out, for all the little things he does in his matches. Not that he's phoning it in, but it doesn't seem like he's trying to kill himself in every match.

I'll give an honorable mention to Cody Rhodes. Like he's done changed anything, character/promo/work wise. But a new change of scenery has done him wonders.

This version of Randy Savage with awful painted black hair and a mesh tank top that has ridiculous white stars on it vs. John Cena in 2005. All my money. Take it.

Everything about this era of Savage was ridiculous and amazing at the same time. It's been an eternity since I bought a wrestling figure, but I proudly have one of this on my shelf.

Yeah, MLW has a point in that WWE probably did ask Fox, who owns Tubi, to kindly do them a solid and remove MLW from their platform.  Does it rise to the level of something that can get its day in court?  And, if so, can MLW fight that court battle?  This is America.  It's not about who's right.  It's about who has the stomach and the wallet to fight it out.

Conspiracy theroy: Andrew Yang is funding this.

They could split the 2-hour NXT into two programs, with the Main Event, and 205 Live bumpers, as well as change the announcers. Would the international partners get upset with that if they tried it?

Quite honestly, the international partners might not even notice. Especially if they load it with Raw/SD recaps.

The iconic version of the Cactus Jack shirt doesn't say "Wanted Dead or Alive", that's the sanitised version. The proper version just says "Wanted Dead".

I never knew/noticed that. I guess it's time for me to hand in my Mick Foley fan club badge.

Agree that the Hurt Business was ended way too early. No one in the group was ever that interesting to me, but somehow as a well dressed unit they became the squad. even with this stupid Goldberg match going the way it most likely will, it would have been fun seeing the old man spear Benjamin and Alexander on his way to victory in some contrived match interference spots.

So, FTR are managed by Tully Blanchard, and Arn Anderson is the Coach of everyone in the Nightmare Family. So, bring in Barry Windham as the Head Trainer of the Varsity Blondes, and then hire Paul Roma to manage Peter Avalon & Ryan Nemeth. 4 corners match: FTR vs Rhodes/Johnson vs Blondes vs Wingmen. A Horseman in every corner!

And with Ric Flair as the referee!

I've figured out why the AEW ring looks different. The actual mat surface is 20x 20  like WWE's rings, but the turnbuckles are longer and the ropes are shorter. So the inside of the ropes bit of the ring is smaller, and the aprons are bigger. So they can do moves onto the apron better, and that Blade to OC top turnbuckle powerbomb was safe.

I've been wondering that for a while. It looks bigger and smaller than a WWE ring at the same time, and your description explains why.

Yep… They’re identity is about as stable as WCW‘s in the early 90’s. Once they were a ECW clone. Then they were an ROH clone. When they came back they were a throwback to JCP mixed in with 90’s WCW Saturday Night. After that they were like “Hey fake shoot fighting is cool” so they did that. “Now we are 1980s WWF“, and uhhhhhh… also Lucha Underground?

…And people complain about Shawn Spears identity crisis. *Pfft*

They did give us the Filthy Island special set in the back woods of the Von Erich ranch. It felt like it was a missing episode of Trailer Park Boys and I'll be forever grateful.

Who were those 2 masked guys that came out as 1 entrant? The Sentai Death Squad I think they were called. Because they were terrible. Both looked like it was the very first time they had ever been in a ring.

Yeah. Storyline wise, they are CONTRA's nameless/faceless goons. I assume they're just local guys or anyone available.
