  1. When are we gonna wake up and just burn this corporate model of capitalism to the ground?
  2. Since when have luchadors who dropped famous mask matches been allowed to re-mask? I guess another little grain of integrity in wrestling has been swept into the dustpan of history.
  3. Yeah, I saw that they already did a table based on whatever we're calling the previous Godzilla Vs. Kong movie now. I guess I'd spring for a re-do of the Jaws table if they've managed to acquire genuine vocal samples from the film and y'know the actual fucking score. I've no idea what caveats were in place when they licenced the film but couldn't include the Jaws theme in any way.
  4. I loved the previous iteration of Pinball FX but the last version wanted you to double-dip and buy all the tables you'd purchased AGAIN so I said adios to that shit.
  5. Pretty sure Bop 'n' Wrestle (or Rock 'n' Wrestle as it was known, here in the UK) on the C64 was my first exposure to wrestling in any form, unless I'd already seen some random Saturday afternoon World of Sport. I don't remember the music at all, but I do seem to recall really garbled, crunchy 'speech' effects during moves.
  6. They dropped the ball bigtime by not mentioning the 1993 televised in-ring interview prior to his big Wrestlemania comeback match, where he poured out his heart RE head collapse, divorce and apparent end of career, before saying something like "I didn't know what to do", only for a particularly compassionate fan in the crowd to yell "Kill yourself!".
  7. I've never seen the match but for some reason always had it in my head that Steiner was trying out a flipping version, like a moonsault fallaway slam if you weel.
  8. That Footloose tag sounds really good. I've never been clear on what a blockbuster supplex is; is it the move also commonly known as a fallaway slam, IE Scott Hall's 'sack of shit'.
  9. I got a chuckle out of the still they showed of Hogan and Beefer around the 40 minute mark, a front row fan leaning into shot holding a 'BRING BACK G.L.O.W.' sign. Hey, he got his wish, sorta.
  10. This all sounds good to me. I don't suppose they've brought back the chain wrestling from 2K19? Because that would be a big incentive to me buying now and not waiting months for a major price drop.
  11. The great documentary 'Memphis Heat' is up on full on YouTube. I have no idea if it's been officially authorised for upload or not, so maybe jump on it now in case it's gone later. Memphis Heat 2011 (youtube.com)
  12. YouTube is littered with fan-made sizzle reels of wrestlers, including at least two I've seen of Williams looking like a terrifying monster in AJPW. If WWF had wanted to, they absolutely could have gotten him over two fans with maybe two 30-second spots of highlights; build the threat around the possibility of Doc landing the backdrop driver on Austin's recently broken neck (don't forget, Austin never had to take the move, just get waistlocked and fight for the ropes a few times), maybe bring in someone non-cartoony as his mouthpiece, and you've got the makings of a solid six-month run at least.
  13. Is this an actual term we're using now? Cause I like it. Definition please.
  14. The exact moment I flipped from thinking Warrior was cool to thinking he was a dick.
  15. IIRC it was WWF Warzone that started that (thankfully short-lived) period of wrestling games using stupidly complicated Mortal Kombat-style input. Dreadful times.
  16. A bit that always struck me as poignant from Foley's book was an anecdote from just before he and Gordy went out for their Kawasaki Dream match, when Gordy said something to the effect of 'please don't let me look bad out there', essentially acknowledging that he was painfully cognisant of his own deterioration from his pre-overdose abilities.
  17. Oh wow, thanks - I didn't think it had made it to an official epub release.
  18. Man, good luck finding an affordable copy. I thought I had a PDF of it but realised recently that I was sadly mistaken.
  19. RE: WWE2K I think last year I played maybe an hour or two of one of the two storyline modes and then never returned to it. Partly because I discovered that GM Mode is the best thing ever and partly because I've always hated the company's stupid scripted storylines approach to television, never mind videogames. It seriously just seemed like page after page of insipid dialogue and social media references broken up only by tapping a button for the next line of lame dialogue and now and then an uninspiring match between uninspiring made-up wrestlers. Okay, that's awesome.
  20. Kamala could pull off a helluva jumping splits back in the day.
  21. I've always assumed the voiceover was pretaped, but who knows?
  22. Saggs looks no more than maybe five years older than he did in his early 90s heyday. He did a recent shoot interview in which he seemed really decent and grounded too. Even back in the day I always got the impression that his partner was probably a bit of a millstone around his neck, like (to make a wholly inappropriate literary reference) Knobbs was Lennie to Saggs' good-natured and tolerant George.
