OK, maybe Hurt Locker was a bad example, but that doesn't excuse the Academy from all their other bad decisions. I used to agree with George C. Scott, God rest his soul, that the only film award worth a damn is the New York Film Critics' Award, but apparently they're just as stuck up their own asses as of late. Come on, film critics. Don't make me count on the fucking People's Choice Awards.

Let's be honest; the only reason Heath Ledger even got a nod for Best Supporting Actor, much less the win, is because he died. That's not an indictment of his acting skill, but an indictment of how out of touch/pretentious the Academy is with their decisions. I used to have "watch a movie before it gets picked for Best Picture" on my bucket list, but scratched that off once I saw how stuck up its own ass the Academy was for picking stuff like Hurt Locker and fuckin' The Artist and decided it didn't matter.

I know this place isn't the most Disney-friendly, but I've been taking in the new series of Mickey Mouse five-minute cartoons, and I gotta say they're fantastic. They really captured the old school humor and style, updated the animation, and made it look like a love letter to the 30's. It's like John Kricfalusi didn't lose his talent and took his act to Disney. Soooooo good. My favorite's the bullet train one.

I know dudes have been bandying around their indy projects around here, so I thought I'd hop in. My buddy works for a promotion called Eastern Pennsylvania Wrestling Entertainment out of Allentown, and they're doing a free iPPV show today at 2pm. He was up until 2am getting the setup right, and he's really got high hopes for it. http://www.8bitx.com/event/old-school-wrestling-ppv/ If you guys give it a look I'm sure he'd be thrilled. I can't really justify buying new unless you're dirty-ass rich and it's a new toy to show off to your friends. I drive a '98 Ford Escort that I got from my late grandmother (stepfather's mother, technically). It needs an assload of work done to it and I might webuyanycar.com it and use the money to get a newer (but still used) car with less problems.

Texans fans are pretty embarrassing; they booed a 12-4 team last year, they leave early, get into fights during tailgates.A lot of the "fans" appeared in the last two years. There's the die hards who've been around since the david Carr days, and then there's the relapsed Vince Young fans.Owen Daniels' injury is a 4-8 week recovery, but he was put on IR to return, so he's out 8 weeks. Might mean Schaub will throw to Hopkins for once.I've always heard Houston has more Titans fans than Texans fans. Is this still true?Also, Philly fans never did this to their QB. Holy shit.

The show was clearly set up for them to win Nationals. So you're right in that it should have ended after that. But between Murphy running good ideas into the ground and FOX wanting to hold on to any show that's remotely decent, and we have what we have today.The worst was when they took serious issues and turned them into one-off bits. Texting while driving (Quinn's accident), the Bieste domestic abuse thing, that one girl who passed out on diet pills, and of course what seems like ripping pages out of Outrageous LGBT Stereotypes for Dummies.Though the shooting episode was the last straw for me.

Mine too. Don't get me wrong, that was a dickhead thing to do on her part, but you probably could have taken it better, and besides, if she was doing something like that then clearly she's not worth the frustration.

Glee should have called it a day after Season 3. They'd won Nationals, a lot of them were graduating, and Ryan Murphy is a dipshit with ADHD that can't focus on a project to save his life. It was the perfect high note, but after that... sweet Jeefus. (cue some smart-ass comment on how it should have ended after the first few eps of season 2)

I have nothing to add to Andrew's plight other than that I've been in his shoes before (saying/thinking some mean things about women that I regret and will not repeat here), so while I see where he's coming from, it seems like he's acting on some kind of "she's chubby so she should be willing to let me go all up ins because I'm doing her a favor" entitlement complex. I've never met him, but going by his posts here, it seems like his problems with women and people at work/finding work are related.

I need to stop going on wrestling fan groups on Facebook. Too many people on there think Davey Richards is anything other than terrible. Being in charge of the kiddo made it impossible to hop in on that CWF iPPV on time, and I'm sure it's just about over, but I wish them and especially RA and Stuttsy the best with it. Any chance of it going on replay?

The public transit sucks, the municipal employees working without a CBA for almost five years sucks, the sports teams suck, the public schools really, REALLY suck; you know why there are so many drug addicts here? They need dust just to cope with the fact they live in this dump.

FUCK YOU School District of Philadelphia for being so awful that there's no way in hell that I'm letting my daughter go to school there. FUCK YOU City of Philadelphia for requiring my wife stay in the city for her job (she's a 911 dispatcher). FUCK YOU my wife's refusal to let our daughter go to a parochial school (even a liberal Lutheran school), and MY refusal to let her go to a public school in Philly, because this isn't the sort of thing you can compromise. FUCK.
