MARCH 2021 Discussion of Wrestling.

And just to be sure I have this right, he turned face, joined the Mysterios, they dropped the angle, took him off tv for a few months then brought him back to join up with Rollins again. Without even trying to explain it, or write a story or anything. This is why the almost the entire roster is a bunch of dudes. They give you no reason to even care, because it's clear they don't. -

NOV 2020 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

I stopped watching WWE a few years ago because at some point most of it felt insulting to me, in the way that it seems like they don't care about the audience. For example, I listen to one review show a week about the weekly programming and apparently WWE is doing the same old SS schtick about "the one time a year". An entire year of people moving back and forth from brand to brand and drafts and whatever else and now SS matches with no stakes and nothing on the line and who would care? It's obvious most of it is just last minute, thrown together dogshit, like 75% of the show. They don't care. In an effort to limit social media, I watch AEW in a vacuum and I rarely go into the threads on here. Funny thing, thing, this pandemic has made me want LESS interaction with people, not more. -
SEPT 2020 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

Remember when Ryback debuted and the crowd clowned on him by chanting "Goldberg"? Then the WWE gave him a winning streak like Goldberg. Then he started getting over like Goldberg. Then he was getting the biggest pops on the show. Then they squashed that like they do with everything else, but my point remains. That big meathead Ryback got over as hell, and I'm pretty confident his winning everything was the biggest reason. -
I'm shocked that USA hasn't figured out that that they are basically paying Vince to be a dick to his competition. If I'm paying for the show and I can easily get more viewers on Tuesday, you're doing it Tuesday.

'My least favorite suplex is when it was called a suplay by Watts or Solie or the amateur wrestling smart mark who sits next to me at work. I know it's grammatically correct but it sounds terrible. -

My guess is Vince got up yesterday morning and realized he's spending all this money hoarding talent he can never use and like most greedy billionaires he wants all the money, Not just record profits. -

Well then there is that Kota Ibushi "match" where he went through an apartment and umm, wrestled a bunch of people. Unless someone slipped me a hit of acid and I dreamed that. -

WWE is like the rich couple whose relationship is falling apart and the solution is to buy new cars and a beach house. -
I can't imagine a bigger difference in using old, established names on a show then the one between Jericho and JR. Jericho has established himself as an all-timer, really a unique career and has added so much to AEW. I know they have JR for the name value, but he comes across as an old, out of touch grouch. When the hell did he decide it was ok to talk about business exposing stuff? Bill Watts would punch him right on the throat if he heard that crap. At this point, they just don't need him and it's time to cycle him "down the card".

I'm officially adding the Macho/Hogan/Liz heel/face dynamic to the DVDR bingo. Right next to Sid and WWE women's performers. (Not being critical, I'm here for all of it). -

I think he may be linked to these things, but I think he was the perfect picture for the counter culture movement of the 90's. It went from the glitz and glitter of the 80's to the grunge, no nonsense straight forward approach. Rock music would be my best comparison. -

I think so, but it was always booked in the traditional way of giving direction and letting the wrestlers go perform and get over the stories. It slowly morphed into the sterile, plastic robot show it is now. -

I think it was just a regular metal case, not too heavy. But if you think about it, if it hit you flush on the flat side, that is not a big deal. Anywhere else might suck though. Which leads me to a memory stuck in my head somewhere: I think maybe it was during the JJ/Horsemen angle, and Mongo was going to hit JJ with the case in a match against Benoit. Debra held the case back which made Mongo hesitate, and he accidentally hits Benoit. Except instead of hitting him with the flat side he blasts him with the edge of the case and puts a nasty gash right on Benoit's forehead. -
The greatest jobber bumpers were the Mulkeys, y'all are voting for second place.

One thing about Juvi, that dude was always way over with the crowd in WCW. Even in throwaway cruiserweight matches he would get the crowd into it.
