  1. I watched it and it was fine. Maybe it's because I've seen more Progress now so it didn't feel as special or maybe it's the lack of star power (Zack Gibson and Travis Banks are good but they aren't Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate good, as shown by the fact that I couldn't remember which guy was which) but it just wasn't anything to write home about. I think the show will be better though.
  2. After watching Alexa Bliss more closely (after the discussion last week) she definitely needs to work on her in ring. Those knee drops were at best a gentle breeze on Nattie's ribs. Natalya hit some good stuff though (she's been pretty good the past few weeks). And Nia is a face again? Whatever. Nobody knows what's going on in that angle. Good to see some progress with Sasha/Bayley though. Hopefully it sticks. And yeah, that main event was the epitome of WWE style "epic" wrestling. The guys hit all the same moves as they usually do, but this time they're more tired than usual. Snooze.
  3. I just listened to the What Happened When for Slamboree 1993 and Tony made an argument that if they were ever going to put a world title on Arn, it would've been that moment. I wonder if the Horsemen hadn't reformed that same night whether AA could've had a run as champ, even if it was only transitionally.
  4. Maybe he can wear a cool protective mask!
  5. Their kids are going to have so many abs.
  6. What an odd and intriguing line up so far. I haven't seen Jody Fleisch since he wore that super uncool mask in Michinoku Pro 20 years ago. He must have some sort of 1080 degree Brainbuster by now.
  7. One of the main reasons I enjoy Pete Dunne is because, like Bret, he does his signature moves (including the finger break, which I normally hate) but they’re worked into the story he’s telling. If you watch his last few singles matches on NXT you’ll see a different application of the same moves every time, even if it’s only a subtle difference. That’s what separates a good wrestler from great. Seth Rollins is a phenomenal performer and an amazing athlete, but he’s just a good wrestler because I can’t remember an individual match he’s had in a long time. They all blur together.
  8. I get that, and if her entire role is to transition the title to Ronda then that’s fine. But imagine that same cash in scenario with Sasha and I’m way more interested. It’s just preference really. I guess Sasha has her “feud” with Bayley while Alexa wasn’t really doing anything.
  9. As AJ/Nak was happening I kept hoping they’d pay homage to They Live by leaving out the weapons and just have two dudes kick each other’s asses until one can’t stand up, complete with groin attacks. And I’d still leave out that first table spot, but otherwise I loved that. Also, I agree Braun doesn’t jive well with the briefcase well but if he calls his shot for Summerslam tonight that would be A) awesome and needed and B) nobody has to worry about anyone cashing in for 12 whole months, which is nice. Oh, and as an Alexa Bliss fan, she didn’t need that.
  10. Is it sad that I immediately recognized Reno from the back of his head?
  11. Maybe I misinterpreted, but check the post right before mine. "Going to WWE" implies signing to me.
  12. I wouldn’t be too sure Meiko is signed to WWE just yet. She’s one of my favourites and I hope she gets a shot but she’s already 38, works crazy stiff, and has more of a Toshiaki Kawada-like presence more than the charisma of someone like Asuka or Kairi Sane. If the MYC really is to celebrate women’s wrestling around the world and not just tryout new signees, they could give the win to a talented outsider and Meiko fits that perfectly.
  13. Don't think this has been posted yet.
  14. There may be backstage/private reasons not to like him, but my main issue with him is he's sloppy and unsafe and seems to think that makes him a better wrestler instead of worse. Plus his crust punk, purification through violence gimmick is corny as hell.
  15. Man, you can't pay me to watch anything with Sami Callihan or Eddie Edwards so that main event was a time saver. Not sure I'm into Z&E at all but it's something new at least. LAX and Tessa continue to be awesome though, and I'm on board with Su Yung's army of witch brides. Solid show overall, and they keep improving.
  16. Joesev would be a great team. Good show tonight, especially after that Raw. I marked out for Becky's win too. She's one of those wrestlers who can go from losing regularly to believable title contender in one match. Cass' suit seemed a little better?
  17. I thought I was suffering from wrestling burnout but after reading this thread I think it's just Raw or WWE burnout. It's amazing they have so many wrestlers I want to see but can make a show I don't care to watch. I think it might be time for me to go back to not watching live so I can skip through half the show.
  18. Yeah, that's totally fair. Put it down to my own personal wrestling bubble, I guess.
  19. Last week's Doughboys with Gillian Jacobs from Love and Community has a fun side conversation about PWG. Spoiler: they're all bummed it's not in the Legion anymore.
  20. Whoa, I wasn't complaining and I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. It was just my gut reaction. Sorry, bud!
  21. Adult humans still big into Disney or Disneyland weird me out.
  22. Funnily enough, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are headlining a festival in Toronto today and I'm going. It's been a while since Fever To Tell but I bet they still bring it.
