  1. That beer cracking open is the stuff of legends. I say go with the Doc for extra disappointment.
  2. They beat Raw in the demo I believe multiple times. Since then, WWE has come on big time and AEW has fallen off slightly. They're still doing relatively well but I miss those days and it seems now that Vince's rot is out of the way, the window on that happening anytime soon again is closed.
  3. Whatever happens, I hope Hobbs and Starks go separate ways for 6-8 months before a rematch. Let them grow as individuals before pairing them again.
  4. Wasn't he injured? They could have a Mean Gene UPDATE kind of segment to let us know of such things but time is tight already. Page is going to be with Stokely's project, isn't he? I do miss Dan Lambeezy ngl.
  5. With people throwing MJF and Adam Cole as possibilities, I'm going to feel sorry for Josh Woods or whatever Ethan Page equivalent they have as the joker.
  6. Feel like you're kind of screwed either way with this match. Hobbs should've beat a legitimate name and not just job boys on the way to losing if that's what's going down.
  7. I'm not of the opinion that one magic bullet storyline can turn this around or elevate AEW to the next level (if that's even possible, I'm starting to doubt it). It's just consistent, good booking from top to bottom. Even right now, there's still some good stuff going on. Hobbs and Starks has been built well, even though the QT shit sucks and was unnecessary. Danielson aiming to liberate Garcia from the clutches of Sports Entertainment has been awesome full stop. Think the Jungle Boy/Christian feud stalled a bit and was the opposite feeling of so many of the rushed matches on Sunday's card, but still solid booking overall. MJF, HOOK, Garcia, or one of the other next generation of guys could be big stars but it really does feel like they are not going to be pulling 2 million viewers regardless of how good the show is and who they bring in. I do think it's a wrestling war though. It's not very close at the moment but there's still competition and people will sign with the opposition.
  8. For the scenario I put forth, I was thinking something along the lines of if Ricky could get Hobbs up for Roshambo, Hobbs eye rakes him and hits the spinebuster but I'm not so sure Ricky can get him up. That's a lot of man. But yeah, either way, this has to be a razor thin margins kind of win for either guy so whomever loses can look okay in rehab.
  9. Dog, why do you have to be so dramatic all the time? Now that we're back in a proper promotion war, guys will jump back and forth for years to come unless AEW falls off big time. He could've brought Wyatt in if he really wanted to play da jokah bb. It's not going to be big surprises that get AEW out of this rut, it's going to be long-term solid booking.
  10. Jeff Jarrett is a wrestling god.
  11. Starks and Hobbs really feels like one of those matches where both guys need to win and neither should lose, which isn't ideal. Neither has a tonne of momentum going in terms of big Ws. Starks feels like he's on the verge of something special but with his popularity, passion, and promos he'd be able to regain his steam better than Hobbs, who really needs to crush people. He's a pretty good talked but he isn't going to get over or build up a tonne of momentum with his talking. It's ass kicking. You can rehab either guy but it feels significantly easier to rehab Starks, especially if Hobbs uses a shortcut when things are desperate to pull off the win. I'm saying Hobbs should cheat to get the advantage and then break Ricky's back. What do you think happens? What do you think should happen?
  12. I was just asking about brother's health in one of the AEW threads. Heartbreaking. One of the best to ever do it and not many worked better in the moment with emotion and reactions specific to their circumstances. Kick out, Tenryu! Watching he and Fuyuki vs. Yatsu and Nakano from '91 right now.
  13. Deep cut that i understood! I was so fucking hyped for Sid vs. Gigante, so so ridiculously excited. And then OMG and Sully come in and there's zero stretcher. Such disappointment.
  14. Fite.tv + VPN = $20 US. That's an easy decision for me. If I were paying $50 CDN, it would be a different story and I'd have to give it more thought. I've regretted a couple of AEW PPV purchases. Hardy concussion show fucked my stoned ass up for real and I found this year's Revolution to be deflating with the weak crowd, bad stretch in the middle, and less than stellar main event on paper though it was adequate in delivery. Despite that, they bat at a significantly higher percentage than any other company I've followed with their big shows, barring the recent golden age NJPW stretch. Then again, putting on straight forward good wrestling matches is a way easier target to hit than the crash tv/big storyline extravaganzas Khan aims for, and they were usually pretty damn top heavy with exceptions like G1 shows. edit: to clarify, you don't need to use a vpn while watching the show, just in ordering off of Fite. Super easy.
  15. I like that his promos are different. Perhaps the content can be a little myspace convoluted nonsense at times and should be a little more direct and consistent, but I particularly like his calm, confident delivery. His presentation is great imo, it's his in-ring quality that is pretty inconsistent for me. I too really hope things are better now, his back isn't an issue, and there's a long-term plan for him. He is very talented but more importantly unique and that's big. I'd like to say he's world champ material but it certainly doesn't look like Tony believes that to be true once he started trading wins with Cody. I'm repeating myself, but I'd love the Andrade, Miro, Pac, and Black universe to start mixing it up with the other big names. Khan is also great at heating up acts to the upper midcard level, and we've seen this from the very start with AEW, but how many people has he elevated to tip top main event status? Even Hangman has been left jerking it in the back while the big boys fight over the title since May. I love rigid hierarchies because you can tell so many stories with incremental improvements in underdogs but sometimes it can backfire when you don't pull the trigger or fully commit.
  16. Fightful on rumoured release requests: What do you all think Black's ceiling is? Is he a credible world champion? I'm not so sure, at least not in a company with as many world class guys as AEW and with how infrequently the title is shifted among them. When he came in and squashed Cody they definitely seemed to angle him for big things and then it all petered out. I wonder how much of that is by design and how much is injury driven. I enjoy him but sometimes I find it difficult to get a gauge of just how good he is. Even on the indies it was like that. Seems like he wrestles to his opponent's level quite a bit. That EVOLVE tag with Hero was a classic though.
  17. That's a deal that may work out for both teams but damn three raw dog picks plus three good players for a guy with some pretty glaring holes, as much as I like his scoring ability is wild. Jazz absolutely maximized both of their star players and have a great platform for their rebuild. Unleash 35 minutes a game Jordan Clarkson, lfg!
  18. Sorry if already posted but he sure sounds like he's going to be Preston Vance Esq 3rd with Rush and Andrade. https://twitter.com/Pres10Vance/status/1565369414136074242?t=9PwAZs1bC_lSF7HXR-5A4w&s=19 Board broken and won't imbed.
  19. CM Punk Strikes Again! One more guy on bad terms with Punk leaves the company and we can use the death knocking on the door meme. (This is fine though. Fish filled his role well but O'Reilly should be a singles guy or teaming with Cole.)
  20. My heart will come out from my chest if Tenryu shows up for no reason and guh punches Danielson. How's Tenryu's health btw?
  21. Loved pretty much everything but the Morrissey thing. What the fuck was that shit doing on a scramble to get under the trap door go home show to a ppv? Lmao. Feel like they could've leaned even more into Ospreay out doing Omega but that ruled anyway and I think while there may be some bigger drawing matches possible, Ospreay vs. Omega feels like the biggest deal in wrestling. I hope Ospreay settles in AEW longterm because then they've got most of their stars covered w the next generation. Ace Steel with the money promo for a main event ppv is not something I expected. He better not get any slack for dropping the f bomb in there. Don't love the build but this was a fun salvage job and it sure is different. Because of that and the talent it's compelling.
  22. Between this and the ladder match participants, I take back every slanderous word I've said about Khan. This, of course, is me thinking about the ladder matches in my head rather than the sloppy, disjointed mess of a match they usually turn out to be in AEW. But this match should rock. Rush can throw one of the young'uns around into the guardrails like he did Blake Christian.
